My Cozy Fall Shopping List

So yes, I am a cliched stereotype. I love fall and wearing boots and drinking coffee and wearing plaid and all things pumpkin. I told my brother who likes to good-naturedly josh me about it that I fully embrace it and I am ok with it. I know who I am. And I live in the midwest – autumn here is amazing. Brilliant colors, brisk temperatures, fire and quilts and warmth and coziness, all that good stuff.

I have all sorts of favorites and wish lists and items I have bought or plan to buy, all fall and cozylike. And since in the fall I seem to gravitate away from my beloved bunnies and towards foxes, you might notice a theme. (and be prepared, I will probably make another post about all the Halloween things!)

This post contains Amazon and Etsy affiliate links.

I think we all know we need tea and a good solid mug to drink it from, and I have fallen in love with this sage green and fox mug from Pleasant Pottery, located in the Finger Lakes region of NY. And can you imagine how beautiful that area must be in the fall?? As for tea, Billy requests Earl Greyer every year, while I switch it up. This year I want to try this Apple Pie Chai, which sounds delicious, or the Apple Cinnamon by Celestial Seasonings.

I like to add little festive decorations to the house, like most people. We bring in a lot of nature items that we gather on our walks but I do also decorate with non-nature items too. Lol. I generally do a fall decorate, where it is less Halloween and more autumn, and add in some spooky things in October, which I can easily remove and leave the autumn up through November. I always have a banner up in our den windows, all year, and I love the colors and simplicity of this one from Matthew and Mae. But I also like this version with teal in it! Which do you like better?

I love the mushroom, leaf, and fox tea towel, also an Esty find. We use hand towels a lot around here although sometimes I am like “Wait! Not that one! That one is just for pretty!” I could see me saying that with this one for sure!

And, while not a decoration I am adding these note cards to the cart. I want to start sending handwritten notes out this fall and winter and these are so pretty!

Billy and I are painting our bedroom this weekend, and while I have most of what I need to refresh the room, I do love this print. I am thinking of adding it to our walls. It just makes me feel happy to look at it. I don’t know when or if we will get to Paris, but I like to dream of it. And November is a special month – our anniversary is in November as is my birthday.

A purse has become something more of a necessity. I have broken countless debit cards by putting them in my back pockets (and lost them sometimes too), I have to bring my glasses with me now, I have keys, my phone – ugh just too much stuff. Gone are my carefree days of just a phone and license and debit card. It’s time to grow up and actually carry a purse. This one seems like it will work wonderfully, big enough to carry all my junk unlike my wristlet wallet, but not huge and bulky in case I am holding Wyatt.

Finally, I wanted something fun to wear around this fall. I like to have my arms not all bunched up in layers because I often have to pick Wyatt up and carry him, and it is hard if my clothes are all bunchy. This poncho looks perfect for kicking through leaves, picking apples with my kiddo, sitting around a fire. I wanted something that was easily washable for the same reasons – I have a 7 year old, and sitting around a fire makes your clothes a little smoky. Or a lot smoky, depending. Although Billy likes this one.

Is there anything you are loving for this fall season?

Friday Favorites: Etsy Artists

It’s summer. Things are crazy busy with planning for the school year and with Wyatt and enjoying the season to the fullest… sometimes too busy for my introverted self. I recharge with quiet time, and right now I don’t get too much of that, with no babysitters or school or..anything. So when I do get a few minutes to myself and there is not quite enough time to read, I browse the interwebs – mostly Instagram and Etsy. And I have found some really great artists this way! I even have a few Christmas gifts planned – and in one case, ordered! I also really miss art fairs – walking from stall to stall, talking with the artists, buying special things for special people. Covid has really made it difficult for artists to get their work out there this year, and online is one of their only avenues right now.

Right now one of my absolute favorites is The Bee Tree Shop on Etsy. Her work and designs just call to my nature and creature loving heart! I love the message, the sustainability, and the beauty of these pieces. And, I just placed an order for a few Christmas gifts! I guess I am starting super early this year! You can find her store here, and Instagram here. She is super nice and also answers your messages really quickly as well, just an FYI.

This next artist is another favorite. I am redoing my office this fall and I feel like one or two of her pieces will be gracing the walls, even if they freak Billy out. Lol. I am thinking maybe two since I can’t decide between The Country Squire and The Botanist. You can find OhHelloCrow on Etsy here and Instagram here.

So, seeing all of these favorites together, I am sensing a theme. I might be obsessed with anthropomorphism. But this badger!!! This, this, my husband would love. I haven’t shown him because maybe it will end up under our tree this year. (and if you read this Billy just forget I wrote that!) Our little family loves foxes and owls and rabbits and badgers. And apparently I love British artists as well as British tv. Anyway you can find Jimbob Art here on Instagram and here on Etsy.

This next artist paints the most wonderful nature inspired watercolors – and I am in love with her camping playing card set! I need to order them – I guess Billy and I could play poker together until we get to use them with more than just the two of us. I might buy them with an eye toward using them hopefully next summer up north with my family. You can find Jennie Kilcup here and here.

And last but certainly not least is Katie Daisy! I have loved her work for years and years, and own multiple pieces by her, including her book How to be a Wildflower. Her work is so whimsical and colorful and inspiring – and now she has a larger product line, including t-shirts for kids and adults! You can find Katie Daisy on Instagram here and on Etsy here.

So what about you? Any artists out there whose work you are loving lately?

Friday Favorites

I think you might all know by now I love a list. I also love the idea of sharing what I am loving – and I hope that you will share some things that you love as well! It just feels so positive to me, and some days I just really need a reminder of the good stuff. I have started these posts before and then not kept up with them, or deleted them for various reasons. This week has actually been a pretty tough week, and I wanted to reflect on the things that made me smile or made laugh or made me think, or just straight up entertained me.

I have not had a lot of time to really blog or comment much this week, but I have been reading blogs all over the place. I like to read it all, too. I like to read about books and deep thoughts and what people are buying at the grocery store and what they are wearing. I am all over the map. I just like to know, I guess. But this week I read a blog post that really sparked me up, and that was What’s Nonfiction’s review of Quit Like a Woman. Fantastic review, and really got me thinking about so much. I had so many feelings on this topic!

These snowdrops that we saw this week! Our first true sign that spring will really happen! We have a bit of winter left, but I feel hopeful that spring is on its way!

I am also seriously addicted to Parisienne Farmgirl’s YouTube videos! I feel like I share her values, but she is so pulled together and classy and Parisienne about it that she is goals. Plus, her food that she makes looks amazing! I am hoping to do a deep dive of her channel soon to see if she shares any of her meal planning. She also makes me want to go thrifting and get out in my garden like right now. And now I want a plaid apron too.

I always do an experimental meal every week, one I have plucked from Pinterest and the one I just made was so darn good!! It is called Mediterranean Tuna Salad and it was so fresh and yummy, we couldn’t get enough of it. We liked it so much it is back on the menu for the upcoming week! We always rate our new recipes and have decided this is a solid five out of five, and would be great in the spring, summer, or as a winter pick me up when you need that taste of freshness and green. I should add I am not a fan of regular tuna salad, so the fact that I liked this is amazing. But, no mayo so that is probably key.

This Buzzfeed article on book nook shelf inserts that are so magical and lovely and whimsical – I am totally doing this. I am so in love with this little Fairy Forest! I love things that spark my own creativity and give me ideas!

marlasings / Via reddit.com – via Buzzfeed for me!

This kid. Playing cars together, and my son, who has a speech delay, told me that his Elmo needed a “Buckle, mom” after Elmo flew out of the car that I had so dangerously and precariously perched him on top of. But that Elmo, he’s a risk taker. See him all Game of Thrones on a dragon there. Still no buckle…

Tanglewood Hollow, always a favorite of mine – but this maple sugaring post grabbed my attention, especially since at Wyatt’s upcoming party we are doing a maple sugaring event..

What about you? Anything catch your fancy this week? What have you been enjoying?
