Hello everyone! Last week I took an unscheduled break from just about everything. I think the past 8 weeks finally caught up with me and I needed to take some downtime. It was nice to be lazy with Wyatt after the months we have been through! We had a play date with his cousin Mermaid Girl, and I had a grown up play date with my friends, who I haven’t seen in months in person. It was so good to see them. Then Saturday I had a video chat with a friend who lives in another state and that was fun as well! I feel much more refreshed after all of that.
Reading:

I am slowly meandering my way through Hill House Living by Paula Sutton. Sutton has a famous Instagram account, Hill House Vintage and her life looks so gorgeous. I am also reading through my favorite book again, Watership Down. I like to take my time with this book. And this time I am also listening to it as well! I have never done that before and it gives it a whole new feel. The audiobook I am listening to is fantastic, the reader Peter Capaldi does the best voices and is just a very talented reader. I highly recommend it! I am doing a read some/listen to some method. This will probably take me to the end of the week so nothing new here.

Watching/Listening:
Billy and I have been watching Beyond Paradise, which I love. I love that it is different than other British cozies in that there is not a murder every episode! It is set in a small little coastal town in Devon, and to make it more realistic I guess the mysteries are all different types of crime. I love this departure.
We are also watching Ted Lasso, Miss Scarlet and the Duke, and My Life is Murder with Lucy Lawless. It’s been a good week of tv! No movies this weekend yet, we had a surprise visit from my dad last night instead of movie night, which was nice. We are getting ready to join in on Lisa at Boondock Ramblings “Spring of Cary Grant” though, and are planning on watching Houseboat tonight.
As for listening, I am listening to Watership Down.
And that is it from my corner of the world! How are things in your neighborhood?
Sometimes we need some downtime to regroup and just relax. I’m glad you had a chance to do that. I hope you have a great week!

Beyond Paradise will be another for my growing list of shows to look for! I’m really appreciating everyone’s comments about the tv shows so I can look for them. Ted Lasso sounds like something I would love to watch. When we talked about moving I was very excited about the prospect of cable or streaming.
Glad you could have some chill out time with Wyatt.

Hill House Living reminds me a little of the Brambly Hedge Collection and The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady, both of which are on my to buy list. They both seem like they might have a similar vibe. And I may have to try that show Beyond Paradise.

I have Brambley Hedge on my list too! I own The Country Diary and I love it. 🙂
Yes, try Beyond Paradise! After Death in Paradise though. 🙂

Ha! It would have helped if I had read your blog before I asked about the Cary Grant movie.
I am going to have to read Watership Down finally. Also, Peter Capaldi was Doctor Who (number 12) and in a very funny, crude, and irreverent show The Thick of It (he uses the F word every other word so I only watched one episode with very wide eyes. lol!) Why am I telling you this? Because everyone needs to know that I know a tiny bit of TV trivia.
We need to get back to Beyond Paradise.

Lol!
I had no idea that Peter Capaldi was a famous actor. LOLOL. No wonder he does such an amazing job reading the book. It is like being transported to the downs.

Did you see the live action Paddington movies? He’s also Mr. Curry. 🙂

I’m just settling down to watch the last Beyond Paradise episode as soon as I look at a few more blogs. I’m sad there are only six episodes. I hope they do another season.

Oh, I just finished the House in the Cerulean Sea! What a wonderful book! I couldn’t wait to finish it as I wanted to see how it ended yet I didn’t want it to ever end. I’m now reading The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches and This Time Tomorrow. How are you liking My Life is Murder? We really liked it. We just finished Daisy Jones & the Six…don’t know if I liked it or not. Have a fabulous week!

I love that you are following it up with the Society of Irregular Witches because you will love that one too!
I really am enjoying My Life is Murder! I am not sure I want to watch Daisy Jones and the Six. It has never appealed to me, the book and now the show.
Thanks Marsha!

It’s kind of neat! Sometimes I will listen while I clean or whatever, then make sure I end on a chapter ending so that I can pick up the book right where I left off easily.

Cary Grant is one of my absolute favorite actors so a spring of his movies would be fantastic. He’s so incredibly versatile. I love Peter Capaldi and I imagine his narration would be fantastic. David Tennant is also great and continues the Doctor Who theme! Glad you took a break – you definitely deserved it!
