Hi everyone! It’s been a while since I participated in these Sunday and Monday memes; I just hadn’t been reading anything. Now though that the holidays are over, I have been able to enjoy reading again. Yay!
Read Lately:

My last book of 2022 and my first book of 2023! Legends & Lattes was the perfect book to end the year with – it was everything I needed and didn’t even know it (review). Outfoxed was a great way to begin the year, with a story of letting go of the past and starting anew. (Review coming soon!)
Reading This Week:

I absolutely love the Truly, Devious series by Johnson and was so excited to pick this up at the library the other day! The woman working the circulation desk told me it is her favorites series and that she ordered a signed copy of this book for herself, and is waiting for it to arrive to read.
Posted Lately:
I have been posting a lot for me. Lol. Some highlights I guess would be:
Our 2022 Movie Night Favorites
And then of course my usual chatty posts and updates.
Watching and Listening:
Billy and I have been watching so much Grantchester! We are almost done with it and have a few things we are tossing around to watch next – Wednesday, Shetland, The Mayfair Witches, to name a few. The Mayfair Witches is probably one of my favorite books ever so I am super nervous to watch the show. As long it sticks to the “spirit” of the story, although I already have some concerns, I won’t lie.
In movies we watched The Pale Blue Eye on Netflix and it was fabulous. Harry Melling (Dudders, Dudley Dursley) blew me away with his portrayal of a young Edgar Allan Poe! Of course, Christian Bale performed his role perfectly as well.
I’ve also been having fun catching up on my favorite YouTube Channels – Darling Desi, Alexandra Roselyn, Rachel Maksy, With Love, Kristina, and Roots and Refuge Farm.
And that is about it for today! Short and sweet. What’s been going on in your world?
I love lattes, especially the chai lattes at Barnes and Noble.
I’ve been reading Chinese authors recently, literary fiction. On my blog.

Outfoxed looks fantastic, a perfect first book for the new year.
I think my husband and I would like Grantchester. He loves mysteries.
Isn’t it lovely to find a book at the library that you can’t wait to read?!

I like stories with foxes so Outfoxed sound good.

Enjoy your week!

I really enjoyed The Pale Blue Eye! It was so good. Billy thought it was a little too slow. It was pretty slow at first but I feel like the story really started to pick up in the middle.

I have seen so many raves for Legends and Lattes. It’s so outside my norm but I’m tempted to give it a try.

That is exactly how I felt! I don’t read about orcs or anything like that. But, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved it!

Thanks Terrie!! I really like the Truly Devious series. I love the idea of the school the kids go to, Ellington. It is a really neat world Johnson has created.

Oh, Legends and Lattes was delightful! One of my favorite books from 2022.
And I totally hear you about not having time to read during the holidays. I love spending the holidays with our adult child and my extended family, but I’m enjoying having more reading time now that we’re home.

I loved all the family time but phew. Now I am happy to get back to our normal rhythm.

Ooh I read Truly Devious and liked it but never went on with it. Arghh. Hope you guys had a nice New Year. It was quiet here although we did watch Miley Cyrus’ show. Her and Dolly PArton were hilarious.
Shetland! I miss that show. I think I have a season or two to go. 🙂

It is so fun, and well done. It was very quiet here as well. Lol. I think I was asleep at midnight. Oops.
I love Dolly Parton!!!
We are a season behind as well with Shetland. The weather here has not been cooperating with us, we like to watch it when it is super cold outside. LOL

I must be on an eye theme!! I had just noticed The Pale Blue Eye, but we went with Big Eyes which is older, I think. I’ve just finished a couple of books so maybe I’ll hit my Goodreads challenge this year. I only missed it by a couple, but still!! I hope you’ll join in on the 10 on the 10th!

I loved the Pale Blue Eye! Billy wasn’t as enamored, he said it was a bit slow (it was) but the end got crazy!

We are almost done with Grantchester! I liked Sidney more than Will but Will seems like a better person and vicar…lol.

I’m the same way with adaptations. I don’t expect an exact duplicate but it does need to have the same feel and the characters have to be the same people. I want to try the Truly Devious series. I’ve heard such good things about it. Have a great week!

It’s really a fun, well done series!
And yes! I want the feel of it, the spirit of it but it doesn’t need to be to the absolute letter. 🙂
