Hi everyone! This past week Wyatt and I have been enjoying a break from homeschooling and maybe just all work in general and it has been awesome. Billy even took two days off work which made the time even better. We’ve been having little mini adventures, lazy days, and just plain having fun living life.

I am all over the place with reading right now. Like picking up books but skipping around from this one to that one, like a butterfly visiting flowers. I have been reading Watership Down most frequently, taking my time with my favorite book and not speeding through it, which when you have read a book this many times would be quite easy. It’s so familiar, every bit, and I want to take my time with it instead of flying through. I have a bit left in a few other books too, and I am planning on wrapping all of those up before moving on to my next read, Beauty From Ashes by Lisa Howeler! She blogs over at Boondock Ramblings about her life as a homeschool mom (her daughter and Wyatt are very close in age which is super awesome and I love sharing stories back and forth with her), avid British cozy watcher, random musings that make me laugh from her wry sense of humor that is so much like my own family’s sense of humor, and her faith. She is also a very talented writer! Her third book in the Spencer Valley Chronicles comes out on May 10th and as part of the launch team, I have a copy to read now!

I can’t say we are watching anything right now of note – we seem to have gotten sucked into Murdoch Mysteries. We are on Season 7 now and we have noticed that the show is seeming to take itself less seriously. This different sort of feel, a bit more humor, makes the show fun to watch. One of the last episodes we watched even got sort of meta on us. We have been playing hard during the day the past few weeks too, and it is pretty perfect to just unwind to at night.

We haven’t had much wake up music either! I think because we have been lazy in the mornings these days. Lol. We did have one the other day, and Wyatt was jamming out to it – Grateful Dead’s Touch of Grey, one of my faves. Apparently Wyatt is a fan as well.

I did manage to post a few times last week!

  1. I’ve never read Watership Down and am inspired to add it to my library list.

I think it’s important to inject a few lazy days (or weeks) into our schedules every now and then. I did a lot of household chores yesterday, and I need to get outside and work in the yard, but I’m right now I’m enjoying a cup of tea and catching up with my favorite blogs. Life is too short to rush about.

    1. I really love it so much. 🙂

And you are so right! Lazy days are so important. We all need down time to recharge our spirits, mind, and bodies. And oo does that mean I am on the list of favorite blogs! If so thank you!

And yes. I like to take my time too. 🙂

I am the queen of lazy. I’ve been resting a bit the past few days because I felt so tired, cold, and a little achy. I feel better today and made myself hit the treadmill and ran the 1-mile part with no trouble, LOL. Now I’m trying to settle down and knit on a languishing shawl WIP.

  3. Well, life has been rather hectic, exciting, and scary all at the same time. We sold our house before listing it, are building a new one, and hope all of the dominoes tumble at the right time! As for watching tv…we just finished Bridgerton (ok, but not great except for the clothes) and continue to watch Picard (I just listen as I crochet as I’m not as invested in it as Nigel). I finished a corner to corner lapghan for a charity and have started another in velvet yarn for I don’t know yet! My goal is to get rid of lots of yarn with these little lapghans. I’m reading The Lincoln Highway but am struggling a bit with it.

    1. Wow you do have a lot going on!!!! I am sure everything will work out just fine!

We have not watched Bridgerton but I do feel like I would like the clothes and the music. Lol. And we watched Picard! It wasn’t too bad, but I feel like my husband was more interested than I was as well.

      Your lapghan projects sound fun!

  4. Mini adventures are good! Especially now in spring when things feel upbeat (although we could use some more upbeat weather lol, at least around here). I’m curious too about Murdoch Mysteries! I’ll have to check that out. Might be a show I’d like…

  5. It sounds like you all had a super spring break. We all need to step back and relax now and then. I especially like the idea of mini-adventures.

I’m eager to see what you think of Beauty From Ashes by Lisa Howeler. I think Lisa is the sister of Bryan of Still an Unfinished Person. And Bryan’s wife, Kim, blogs, too.

  6. I haven’t listened to Touch of Gray in forever. It was one of my favorite songs but I had kind of forgotten about it. I’m going to go find it. I’ve never read Watership Down but it is one of my husband’s favorite. Have a wonderful week!

  7. I homeschool as well, although we are nearing the end of our journey. My daughter graduated in 2022 and my son was supposed to graduate next year but we are graduating him a year early. We will be completely done next Friday…so many feels! I love when you can take mini-breaks as a family. Have a great week!

  8. Thanks for the book mention! As you know by the message I sent you earlier, WordPress either randomly took you off my follow list or I somehow bumped something on my phone and unfollowed you! I have no idea but I am playing catch up with posts now.

We like Murdoch mysteries for similar reasons as you, by the way.

      1. It’s so annoying!! It has done it to me a couple times. I was really worried about this one blogger and why she wasn’t posting. Turns out she was and I wasn’t getting notified. I did just notice it is somewhat easy to bump unfollow on the phone so maybe that is what happened. Who even knows!
