I am linking up with Deb at Readerbuzz, Kathryn at Book Date, and Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
Hello everyone! I hope that you are all doing well!
Books:

Last week I read The Haunting of Ashburn House. I tried to read a Gladys Taber but sometimes when I am all dysregulated and my brain is not calm, I can’t concentrate on calm things. So I switched to horror and it did the trick. This one gave me the creeps too! It was more of a jump scare book, like you are just waiting for something to pop out of the shadows and get the character, and I was pretty freaked out. But I was able to relax anyway while reading it, go figure.
This week I am reading an Agatha Christie.

Screens:
Billy and I watched Only Murders in the Building. I love that show! And it was so cool to see Renee Zellweger and Diane Wiest in it! Billy and I also liked the Steve Martin bird parts – maybe as a subtle nod to his role in The Big Year?
We also started watching The Artful Dodger. It’s not bad! We are only a few episodes in but we are both enjoying it.
Tonight our movie flashback with Wyatt is The Goonies! I know a few of you have mentioned this one, and it is high time to watch it!

As for posts last week, I think I had three!

In-Betweens:

Today we went to the kite festival on Belle Isle. We generally get there early, and set up on our blanket under the shade of a giant tree. Which we did today. It is so relaxing. We kicked back, had some watermelon (of which the outside was thoroughly scrubbed lol), watched the kites flying overhead, and listened to the band that was playing. When Wyatt began to get restless, we headed to the big field to try to fly our kite, but try as he might, Billy could not really get that kite to fly. He tried though for at least 30 minutes while we cheered him on, and we all decided after a while that we were done with the kite flying. We had a really nice morning!
And that is about it from me today! I hope that whatever you do today, that you do something that makes you smile!
I love flying kites as well so this looked like a lot of fun. I hope you have a beautiful week ahead Erin.
Thanks Jodie! We had a great time.
That sounds like such a fun morning! ☀️ Even if the kite didn’t cooperate, it sounds like a wonderful day filled with great memories. Wishing you another week full of smiles. Happy reading! 📚🤍
We did have a good time! And thank you Kat!
Sounds like a great day at the kite festival, even if your kite wouldn’t fly! There used to be a man on the beach in FL who flew a different (or so it seemed to me) kite every morning for the month or so he was there. One morning he let me try to fly it! What fun!
Oh that is awesome!! He was probably having so much fun. It was a really nice morning. The guys painted and drew, I just enjoyed people watching and kite watching. It was a good time.
Sad Cypress has such a pretty cover — especially for that title.
I’m glad the kite festival was fun, even without a flying kite.
I know I love this cover! Lol. And it was a really good time!
OH I bet Wyatt is going to love Goonies! I have such a hard time flying kites but I do love to watch others.
Lol he tried so hard! We ended up just saying enough trying for today and went back to watching, which was nice and enjoyable too.
The Goonies! 💟💟💟
Scrub scrub scrub those fruits and veggies! They were talking about salad mixes being a big problem, so even though I washed our spring mix, I decided to have Sebastian use it as greens in pasta sauce this week so it was also cooked. Ha! 🍝
I love kites. I should look for a kite festival near me. I’m glad you all had a good time. 🤗
Have a wonderful new week! 🌤
Oh my gosh, this stupid parasite. I am so annoyed!! We feel like weirdos scrubbing watermelons but I think it is better than catching that parasite! Yuck!
We had such a good time.
I read one by Darcey Coates and liked it! I have the audio of this one too. Just need to make time for it. Sad Cypress is a good one! Looking forward to your thoughts. Have a wonderful week!
I am enjoying Sad Cypress so far!
I read one Darcy Coates and didn’t like it, but I am glad that I gave her another try. I am excited to see she has quite a few haunted house type books!
Love the Goonies and the truffle shuffle! It’s one of my all time favorite movies. I just wish they’d left out some of the words so we could have shown it at school! I hope Wyatt just roared at it. Oh, this dang parasite. I hope they can figure out where it’s coming from. I don’t even want to get tacos! I cannot fly a kit to save myself and I’ve tried! Have a wonderful cool-ish week, Erin!

Hahaha the truffle shuffle! Yes! Wyatt did really like it!
Ugh me too!! It is so annoying. I love berries in the summer and now I can’t eat them! I ordered a taco the other day but I got it minus the lettuce and tomato. It was a very sad taco.
Thank you Marsha, you too!
Ahh The Goonies, I remember it fondly, I hope you all enjoy it!
Thanks for sharing your week, happy reading!
Thanks Shelleyrae!!
I love haunted houses and scary stories, so that one is definitely going on my to be read list.
It was pretty good!!
I haven’t flown a kite in years, but I remember them being very tricky! It looks like it was a beautiful day anyway😁
What a fun day! I don’t think I’ve ever flown a kite … tried a few times, but have never gotten one up and soaring.
Yay for book-jumping to find the one that works <3 I have to pick up a quick paced thriller every so often just to jostle my brain 🙂
The kite festival sounds fun, even if the kite itself was a bit of a dud. I pulled Sad Cypress out of my Christie pile but haven’t started it yet! Book report, please!
Shame about the kite not flying, but sounds like a fun time all the same!
Hope you have a good week. Agatha Christie books can be very fun reads.
The Goonies, what a classic! Glad Wyatt enjoyed it, too.
I hear you about sometimes not getting into a calm book although my way out isn’t horror.
Actually, I understand about it being difficult to read a calm book when you’re not calm. I love Only Murders in the Building. Your day at the kite fest sounds lovely.
It’s like my brain isn’t calm so it can’t focus on something calm. Lol. I love Only Murders too!
Sometimes I have to shake things up when life is more difficult than usual. I’m glad you found something that works. Thanks for the photo of the kite festival!
The Goonies!!! Sing with me!
Say goodbye, look to the sky
Set your course on into the night
Say goodbye, hold your head high
Wherever you’re goin’ it’s alright
Yes!!
I’m late commenting! That first book does sound good, and I do enjoy waiting for jump scares. Isn’t it crazy what can calm us or help us be able to read when our minds are racing? I hope this has been a good week!
