Books, Screens, and In-Betweens

I am linking up with Deb at Readerbuzz,  Kathryn at Book Date, and  Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Hello everyone! I am feeling so happy this morning. Wyatt had his first baseball game with his Challengers team yesterday and he had so much fun. His happiness just made my weekend!

Books:

Last week I read one book and had one DNF.

I DNFd Hens Dancing. I just couldn’t get into it! Maybe I will try again later but it was a no go for me last week.

I did read The Sheep’s Tale, which was a labor of love near the end. I love John Lewis-Stempel, and he loves his sheep. I really like sheep too but this was just a bit more about sheep than I ever need to know. Lol. I am very well versed on them now though and learned some neat facts, and I could tell that Lewis-Stempel takes great care of his flock.

This week I feel like I am just hanging around waiting for the book I really want to read to come in from the library. I am waiting on Three Bags Full, as I have been for months, and it looks like it is finally my turn. I just need it to hoof its way on over to my library. I did manage to get hooked into a different one, even though I didn’t think it would be possible while I waited.

I have just started This Story Might Save Your Life and I am already sucked in. Also, the main character has a hidden disability, narcolepsy, so I will have to add it to my disability rep database project.

Crossing my fingers that Three Bags Full comes in this week!

Screens:

Not much right now. We are gearing up to watch the new season of Dark Winds though. I love that show! I can’t wait to watch it but Billy is making us wait until we can binge it. Lol.

We did finally finish up Young Sherlock and we loved it!

In-Betweens:

This week I take the “kittens’ as we still call them even though they are almost 6 months old and so big now, in for their rabies shots. They were not old enough when they were spayed and neutered so we are taking them to a shot clinic at the clinic where they were fixed. We also cut their nails so they are not such menaces! Lol. They are so sweet to their Nana Miso. She has a bit of kitty dementia and will occasionally randomly meow from somewhere in the house. When she does Max and Mouse immediately go to her and boop noses or comfort her. I love that they take care of her.

And that is it from me for today! I hope that whatever you do today, you do something that makes you smile!

  1. Three Bags Full sounds so much fun. I know what you mean about the sheep book — interesting — till you just want it done. The kits are getting so big and so adorable!

  2. The kittens are gorgeous – how lovely that they look after your older kitty! Amari is now 9 months old, but still plays a lot in the garden. Thank goodness we don’t need to worry about rabies injections! Have a great week.

  3. It’s so cute that the kittens go to check on Miso when she cries. Our one cat started doing that and the vet said she might have gone deaf. we finally figured she had actually gone deaf and was just meowing to try to figure out where everyone was.

That comment about the sheep book was so funny. I don’t know if I could read that much about sheep either!

    1. Awww! That is what I think too, that Miso is wondering where everyone is when she does that. She is usually alone in a dark room when she does it. I think she can still hear though.

It was a lot. I persevered though. I felt like if I didn’t I was being rude to John Lewis-Stempel.

  4. Now, I need to read the sheep book! I follow this woman on Facebook who raises mini cows, horses, goats, as well as regular size. She even shows the birth videos, and I am just mesmerized. Her name is Katie Van Slyke. She has a YouTube channel, too. I could watch those videos for hours. It’s amazing how the animal world is able to have those babies fairly easily. I do feel badly for those horses pushing out those great big foals!

I love that the kittens are taking care of their adopted mama, Miso. Jack really would benefit from a companion, but I’m just not doing it…unless I could get a mini goat…maybe I would then!

    1. Wait. No. Not the sheep book by John Lewis-Stempel. Not unless you want to actually raise some sheep. LOL. However, I am intrigued by that YT channel! So one thing I learned, ahem, is that in farms that are trying to maximize their sheep do things to ensure their sheep have bigger offspring, and get pregnant with multiples, all of which make it much harder on the mom. These sheep require help. On farms like Stempel’s the sheep are allowed to live like normal sheep, without any human interference with reproduction or offspring size, etc, and they can deliver alone. Also, primitive sheep that are not as fancy of a breed are more hardy as well.

They are so sweet with Miso. They try to help groom her, which she has decided she is done with now, they keep her company. They are just really good with her. And a mini-goat would be an amazing pet!
