Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl
Today’s Prompt: Authors You Wish Were Still Writing Today (These could be authors who have passed away or retired/are taking a long hiatus from writing. You could also spin this and share authors who have switched to a genre you’re not interested in.) (submitted by Rebecca @ Top100Books)
This was a tough one.
Authors I Picked Because I Think We Need Their Light In The World:

Authors I Picked Because I Would Love to Hear Their Commentary or Insights on Today’s World:

Authors I Picked Because They Are Gone and I Loved Their Books:

And phew I made it to ten! I can’t wait to see who everyone else picked!
L.M. Montgomery is a great pick.
I think we need a refresher from her on wonder and love of nature.
Terry Pratchett. Of course I can read all of his books, but I miss the excitement waiting when they announced the publishing date for a new book and then having it in my hands for the first time.
Yes! I have seen him on many lists today.
Love these! I would add C.S. Lewis and Laura Ingalls Wilder.
I almost added Laura Ingalls Wilder!
Fab list! 🙌
Thank you Carol!
I’ve never read any of Dorothy Parker’s poems. I should change that.

I used to be obsessed with her! Lol.
You have a great selection. We have a wonderful legacy of books from writers of the past.
We really do. So many to choose from!
I agree, it was so hard I skipped it, LOL! LM Montgomery is a great one! I keep thinking I am going to reread Anne of Green Gables, and hopefully I will get to it soonish.
It was right? Lolol.
Pat Conroy!!!! Except for South of Broad I loved ALL of his books. And The Blue Castle–wow. But, of course, LMM is in a class of her own! I love Scott Fitzgerald! Have you ever read Moveable Feast by Ernest Heminway–I read it in a class on Paris/Berlin in the 20s. Scott is in there. Good selections!
I am so with you on South of Broad!! That was my least favorite as well. But I loved his other books so much.
I did read Moveable Feast. Wouldn’t it have been so cool to be in Paris when those guys were there?
Indeed! I had a class History or Paris & Berlin in the 1920s and it would have been amazing!
That would have been an awesome class.
Great list! I should have included Agatha Christie on my list. I don’t know why I didn’t.
This was a difficult one – it felt overwhelming to me!
Great list!
Frog and Toad!!
Of course, I’m going to say Emily Bronte! But, I’d also add Dorothea Benton Frank who wrote novels about the Low Country. I’d also add F Scott Fitzgerald. Maybe Anne Rice, too.

Lol! Of course! And I love Dorothea Benton Frank! I loved all of her low country novels. I think Shem Creek was my favorite.
How did I forget Arnold Lobel? I love his books so much. I hope there are young Arnolds out there right now, just starting to write their first wonderful stories.
Oh, I hope so!
I love that first category! Those authors’ gentleness, humor, and thoughtfulness would be SO appreciated right now. Great list.
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

Thank you. And that is exactly what I was thinking. 🙂
Ooooh. I love the way you broke this down, and yes: that first category we dearly need!
Great list! Totally agree about needing more light in the world!
