It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

Hello everyone! We had a pretty good week last week – we love Halloween over here, especially Wyatt. I loved seeing him so happy and enjoying himself with his cousins! He wanted to be a snail this year, so Billy and I put on our thinking caps and made this kid a snail costume.

As for reading, it was dismal around here. I don’t think I read at all, all week, until yesterday when I got a chance to read for about fifteen minutes. This week, I am going with some easier reads, two middle grades from my November TBR. One is for my patreon book club that I am in and the other because it is written by the author of The Bear and the Nightingale and I am so curious about how she writes for kids.

Comfy Cozy Cinema: Practical Magic

Hello November

Watching:

Billy and I are deep in the world of pottery right now, watching The Great Pottery Throw Down. We are also watching What We Do in the Shadows as well. (Team Nandor!) We usually fall into bed wiped out at the end of the night, and I do embroidery while we are watching tv, so we have been sort of watching things that are easy to watch.

We are also watching our Comfy Cozy Cinema movies! We only have a few weeks left (then we start Comfy Cozy Christmas) and we watched a few Hitchcock films in October, then leveled off with Practical Magic. Now we are heading back into definite comfy cozy watches, with tonight’s movie Skylark. Then we just have the Grand Budapest Hotel, and our final watch Chocolat. We are actually having a watch party for Chocolat, where we all press Play together on November 17th and then chat over on our discord, The Dames. (no video chat so don’t worry about being in your pajamas!) Edit: Skylark wasn’t available streaming so we watched Bringing Up Baby!

And that is about it for today! I hope you are all doing well!!

  1. OMG! The snail costume is just too cute. Especially with the happy snail face 😊

Maybe next year I’ll do comfy, cozy movies with ya’ll. They’ve all sounded so good but I’m still getting back into the blogging grove and need to learn how to be more efficient with it.

    1. When he told me he wanted to be a snail I was like ok Wyatt we can do that! But I was silently trying to figure out how! Lol. He loved his costume though and was so happy to wear it around!

I have never seen Grand Budapest Hotel – I love Wes Anderson so I am looking forward to it.

  2. What a great snail costume you came up with. Fantastic!

I had almost no time for reading last week but I hope to get to a few books this week. My aunt and I were almost nonstop sewing.

I will probably join in for the last two movies for your CCC event. Discord sounds like fun. I did that with Emma for our group read in French of Madame Bovary.

  3. I watched Legally Blond with my daughter last night, she had never seen and it was great for some laughs. I LOVE the snail costume, so original and you can tell what it is. Glad you had a pretty good Halloween/week! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

I do love to read, and don’t worry if there’s not time to read a dozen a week. It’s not a job. You did a fantastic job on that snail costume though, a labor of love!

  5. I love the snail costume! Comfy Cozy Cinema is fun, I like both the books and film versions of Chocolat and Practical Magic. Happy reading this week, I barely finished one book in October so I’m hoping to read more this month.

You and Billy are so creative! I wouldn’t have had the first clue on how to make a snail costume, but it’s perfect! We started watching Wandavision. It’s a little weird, but it would probably make sense to me if I was familiar with Marvel. I also found out there’s a new season of the Great British Baking Show out. I finished Summers at the Saint which was completely different than what I thought it was going to be. I thought it was a summer beach read. Nope! But, it was definitely a good book.

    Have a wonderful week, Erin!

    1. Thank you Marsha! Billy and I make a good team! Lol.

I am so unfamiliar with Marvel too. I loved all the superhero/comic movies for a while but then there were so many I got tired of them! Billy enjoyed Wandavision though.

And what! I didn’t know that either!!!

Summers at the Saint…. that sounds familiar to me.
