Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
Last week’s prompt about book characters we would want to vacation with was a lot of fun! This week’s prompt is about that old TBR we all have. I don’t have actual books waiting on shelves, as I don’t buy a lot of books for myself anymore – my book budget is mainly used on my son these days. But I do keep an actual written by hand list in my reading journal, which is what I used to make this post! Since there are tons of books on my list, I definitely paid more attention to the “want to read soon” part.

The Mermaid in the Millpond || Narrowboat Summer

Wildwood Magic || Under the Whispering Door

Gladwynn Grant Takes Center Stage || Flowers and Foul Play

The Travelling Cat Chronicles || Murder at the Mousetrap

This Wicked Fate || You’re Not Supposed to Die Tonight
It’s kind of all over the place! Horror, YA, MG, cozy mysteries, magical realism, literary fiction, contemporary fiction.. it’s all here. This is actually a pretty good representation of all of my favorite genres!
Have you read any of these?
I think I had just the teensiest bit of high expectations for Narrowboat Summer. I enjoyed it, but not like I’d hoped.

I feel like that might happen to me too, and that is why I haven’t read it yet. We will see, I have it on my tentative TBR for summer. Lol.

I love the mix of genres and so many of these covers are so charming! And kudos to you for not buying too many books for yourself – I tend to buy too many and they languish on my shelves. But, I do buy a lot for Henry, too!

It is so easy to buy them! I did just recently buy three books for myself, which is crazy for me. Sometimes you just have to do it right?
And thanks!

I’m curious about This Wicked Fate, too.

I love how eclectic your list is! I’ve only read one by Klune so far (Wolfsong) and I adored it.

Oh that is good to hear! I am excited to read that one. I have only read one by Klune too, The House in the Cerulean Sea. I loved it!

I don’t think any of these are familiar to me, BUT I think it’s fun that your list is all over the place. Makes it more interesting for the list, and hopefully in storytelling too when you’re able to read these. Hope you enjoy them all! Thanks a bunch for visiting my website this week.

I want to read the TJ Klune book too! I just borrowed his other book, In The Lives of Puppets, from the library and I’m really looking forward to it as well.

I loved Under the Whispering Door. I’m trying to think if I liked it better than the House by the Cerulean Sea (or something like that). I think I liked them equally well! I wonder if he/she has any more books out there!

There are more Klune Books! There is a whole wolf series, and then there is one called In the Lives of Puppets.

I have heard great things about The Travelling Cat Chronicles, though I have not managed to read it myself either! The Narrowboat Summer sounds like a lovely book.

I have a very bad habit of buying a bunch of books and then not reading them. I could probably have written a top 100 list! I see several of yours that are on my TBR and I really love the look of Murder at the Mousetrap.

This is an awesome list, and I love that it’s all spread out across genres, since it’s a lot like my reading taste is. I really loved Wildwood Magic and This Wicked Fate, and hope you enjoy those two books as much as I did!

Thank you! Oo that is good to know! Sometimes I am nervous to read a sequel in case I don’t like it as much as the first book. Lol.

That happens to me too, especially with a second book in a series. I also procrastinate reading the last book in a series I really enjoy because I hate saying goodbye to the story and the characters.
