It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

Hello everyone! I am actually sitting at my new/old desk this morning, drinking my coffee and typing this up and it is pretty awesome! It was a very busy week. We moved my mom from her condo into a senior living apartment building and it consumed almost all of my time that wasn’t spent with Wyatt. I hope to catch up on lots of things this week, including blog posts and visiting blogs – especially since I may not have a car! We were on the expressway a few weeks ago when we were hit by another car. None of us were injured thankfully, but my Jeep took some damage! It has been functional and the damage is mainly cosmetic but I still need it to be fixed. It was all down the driver’s side of the car too, and I was told it will take 7 days to fix. And somehow I don’t have rental on my car insurance! You know I am definitely adding it now! The auto repair place said they may have a loaner we could use but we won’t know until we get there tomorrow. Fingers crossed!!

Read Last Week:

Wow this book really sucked me in!!! I mentioned last week that I found it somewhat rambling, and I continued to feel that way, but as the story started to really pick up I was totally absorbed and had to know just what happened that night! It has been a while since I read a mystery/thriller type book and this was excellent.

Reading This Week:

Well, I didn’t make it to the library and I very rarely buy books so it is off to my Kindle I go! I do have a book on hold; if it comes in this week I will be waiting by the door for Billy to pull up from work so I can race off to the library before it closes. (although, I may do that even if it doesn’t come in!)

I am in the mood for a creaky old spooky house book. I blame The White Hare, which I STILL have book hangover from.

I have A House with Good Bones on hold, and I found Accidental Magic on Kindle Unlimited.

Tuesday Morning Coffee Catch Up

Watching/Listening:

Billy and I watched Operation Petticoat, which we both absolutely loved as part of my Spring with Cary Grant that I am doing with Lisa from Boondock Ramblings – although, I am doing abysmal at actually posting!! Look for my review on it Monday.

We also have been watching Murdoch Mysteries, When Calls the Heart (such a fall back for me when I am stressed and overwhelmed!), and the Brokenwood Mysteries. We are hoping to watch Dungeons and Dragons tonight!

As for listening, Wyatt had been learning about Kentucky last week, so we listened to a lot of Bluegrass music. I also started catching up with some podcasts, like Going West (true crime) and The Night Owl (ghosts).

And that is it from my part of the world! I hope all is well with you!

  1. You were hit on the highway? No one gets hit on the highway at low speed or comes out of it well. I’m very glad you are OK, even if it means hanging close to home for a bit. How frightening.

    1. Yes, it was so scary!! We were driving through construction near Monroe and the guy in the left lane swerved into our lane. Billy handled it so well! Probably better than I would. We were between the car who hit us and a barrier wall and I was terrified we would be rammed against the concrete wall, but Billy sort of turned the car away and more into the car hitting us to avoid being sandwiched, if that makes sense. Wyatt’s car seat is in the back passenger side so that made me feel better. It was during the time when we had so much going on, it was like what is happening around here?? We couldn’t pull over because of the construction and so we had to continue to the next exit which was right there – the guy who hit us followed us and was super concerned and polite to deal with.

  4. I’m not an insurance expert, but it seems to me that it is the person who hit you who should be paying for a rental car for you. Insurance companies can be very truculent these days about doing the right thing. I do hope you are able to get what you are deserved. And, most of all, I’m glad you and your family were not hurt.

    It’s interesting to me to see the wide range of thoughts about I Have Some Questions for You. Glad you enjoyed it!

    1. I thought that same thing! I called my cousin who is actually a car insurance lawyer and he said no. 😦 I think it is something that is related to living in Michigan and how our car accident laws are or something. I was confused.

      It was a weird read for me – I did get really stuck in to that book and overall I really enjoyed it! However some parts were really slow and rambling.

  5. I agree with Deb, you ought not be paying for a rental. We had an accident decades back and out insurance handled the car rental but we never paid for it.

    Lots of good book selections which I’ll add to my Goodreads list. Congrats on the new desk and I hope your mom enjoys her new living arrangements.

    1. I thought that same thing! I actually called my cousin who is a car insurance lawyer and he told me no. I guess it has to do with how our car accident/insurance laws are set up in Michigan. Yay Michigan. I have my fingers crossed that the place has a loaner.

    Happy to hear no one was injured, but car accidents are such an inconvenience! I was rear ended a few years back. The rental my insurance provided was a little puddle jumper, but I guess it was better than nothing.

    I loved I Have Some Questions For You as well. I was surprised at how much I liked it. Glad you did, too!

    I’ll have to look up When Calls the Heart. Heartland was such a fallback TV series, uplifting and inspirational for me, but I’m all caught up and need something new. Have a lovely week!

    1. Yes absolutely! I was obviously relieved and thankful that we were all ok but it still is such a pain now!

      Yes! I got sucked in! There was so much craziness happening on that campus!

      Oo I will have to look up Heartland. I have watched When Calls the Heart all the way through a few times now.

  11. Oh I’m so sorry about the accident and so glad you’re all okay. We had the same experience with not having rental on our insurance and did the same thing you did! I hope your mother loves her new senior living apartment! Have a wonderful week and enjoy your reading! And get some rest! You had quite of the week.

  12. First, I am so glad no one was hurt in your accident. They are so unnerving. Next, I hope your mom is settling in well in her new home. It can be so stressful to move…trust me on that one! Last, if you want to read something really freaky, try Grady Hendrix’ How to Sell a Haunted House. If you read The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires, you know how way out there he can get! I think I read it in less than two days! Oh, and Mike was born in Kentucky. His parents were born in the hollers, too! I hope you have a fabulous week!

    1. It was. It was during that time where we kept having so many things happen too. It was like what the heck!!

      My mom is adjusting. She wasn’t thriving where she was, and this place will help once she gets used to it. And she is closer so that is good!

      I love Grady Hendrix! How to Sell a Haunted House is on my list! I loved My Best Friend’s Exorcism, it was so crazy. And the The Southern Book Club.

      Aw that is awesome! We enjoyed our Kentucky study!

    I hope your mom adjusts well to her new home! Mine is still out of state with her aunt and her aunt’s partner. I think she’s feeling a little frustrated because she was hoping to be back home by now. We still aren’t sure how long she’ll have to stay up there.

    I am sorry to hear about the car accident! Were you able to get that loaner? Being without a car makes things very difficult, that’s for sure. We were at Barnes and Noble yesterday and were hit by another car that hadn’t been looking when pulling out. Luckily it’s just scratches, but the other car just too off. I’m still jumpy from my accident this past October and even though this accident was small, I have a feeling just going to make my car anxiety worse.

    I am glad you ended up liking Rebecca Makki’s book! A House With Good Bones sounds fun!
