My Sunday-Monday Post!

Hey all! Last week was a bit of a rough week for me (I won’t get into it again here but you can read about it in this post if you want) Reading was definitely a refuge for me!

School begins for us on Tuesday!! I am super excited to dig into our new material and watch Wyatt grow and learn even more.

Read Last Week:

Without a doubt, the best book I have read all year. I LOVED this book so much. I hope to have a review up in a week or two, but for now know that this was beautiful fantastic.

Reading This Week:

After I finished Other Birds and was waiting for This Poison Heart to arrive at the library for me, I picked up My Best Friend’s Exorcism. I was drawn in by the cheesy 80s style cover, and the little blurb saying that this book is like if Tina Fey had written The Exorcist. I love Tina Fey! We just finished watching Stranger Things and I apparently need more dark nostalgia in my life. However, this delves into territory that I usually stay away from: possession and exorcisms. Movies and books about it usually scare the heck out of me! So if this stays sort of comedic and lighthearted I’ll be ok, but if it goes too deep, I’ll have to abandon it. I also finally got This Poison Heart so I am looking forward to that one as well!

Posted Last Week:

Goodbye August, Hello September

Classic Movie Impressions: The Philadelphia Story

The Wednesday Hodgepodge

Tuesday Morning Coffee Catch Up

Watching and Listening:

Billy and I have been watching either Murdoch Mysteries or Only Murders in the Building – we are getting so close to finishing Only Murders and I am not ready!

And that is about it from our little corner of the world! How are things for you?

  1. Other Birds is definitely going on my TBR as I’ve heard so many good things about it when blog hopping.
I hope everything goes smoothly on Tuesday as you start schooling again. Hope this is a good week for you x

  2. I saw Other Birds on BOTM Club list for September, and I couldn’t resist buying it. I need to look for your review, I think.

We were sad to finish Season 2 of Murders in the Building. Happily, my sister put us on to a new (to us) series called Modern Family. Very fun!

I hope school goes beautifully for you this year. I’m eager to hear how things go.

  3. I’m so sorry about your beautiful kitty. I’m sure you’re missing him terribly. {hugs}

Other Birds is quite THE book right now. I’ve see it mentioned on a lot of blogs and I’m curious and will probably give it a try. I read and enjoyed Garden Spells many years ago (2008!) Jump ahead almost a decade and I read Lost Lake, which was a big disappointment. Maybe I’ll have better luck with Other Birds.

We are watching Modus and are almost finished with the first season. It’s good, but pretty intense and disturbing.

I hope the school year is a good one for you! School started the beginning of August here. Way too early, if you ask me. I am glad you enjoyed Sarah Addison Allen’s book. I have yet to read anything by her but I do hope to. I hope you enjoy your reading and have a great week!

  5. I’m thinking of trying Murdoch Mysteries only because it sounds kind of cozy and I feel like that lately. I like mysteries but a comfort mystery, if that makes sense, kind of appeals! I am so sorry to hear about your loss this past week. Sending lots of supportive vibes your way…

Thanks for your comment, BTW. Bilbo’s (the restaurant I posted about) is sadly long gone from E. Lansing, but there is still one in Kalamazoo I believe. They’ve changed the menu listings (they’re not as quaint but I think maybe they were trying to avoid getting sued maybe lol for the direct Tolkien references) but they still have a Tolkien theme…

  6. I loved the witches books you recommended…plowed right through them! We are continuing to unpack and trying to cram 4000 sq ft into less than 1700 sq ft! I’m having to make tough choices about pieces I’ve had for years…I’m a bit of a pack rat and find it hard to get rid of things. But, I’m trying to be a little more ruthless. Then, we got our covid boosters and flu shots so I’ve been wiped out for a couple of days! One thing after another, that’s for sure!

    1. I am so glad!!! I thought they were very interesting fun takes on the whole witch genre of books. (is that really a genre? I am calling it one)

Lol! That sounds like a task ahead of you!! I am with you, I am a pack rat – I just have much less space to work with and over the years I have learned to hone down what I need vs. what I think I need. It’s taken like 20 years though. LOL

That COVID booster (the third one) knocked my mom for a loop too, she was so tired. I was about to get mine when we actually got COVID, now I am not sure when to actually get the booster!

      Good luck with your unpacking!!

  7. We started school Tuesday as well! Hopefully it went well and Wyatt enjoyed it. I’m so glad to hear you really loved the Sarah Addison Allen. She’s a favorite but for some reason this cover put me off. Have a great week!
