Hey all! It’s Dino Day here! I had forgotten that we had bought tickets for Jurassic Quest, a drive-thru dinosaur event near us. I was writing appointments in my planner and saw it in there, thank goodness! I always have weird low key anxiety before these things – I am a person who likes detailed instructions about how to go about this stuff, like what to expect when we get there, when we should get there – like right at our scheduled time? Half an hour earlier? Planning is so hard. Lol. It will be fun though, I think Wyatt will dig it. So we have that coming up this afternoon. I wasn’t sure we were going to be able to go though yesterday, as the freeways around us were all closed. All of them. We had some serious rain and our county was flooded. Our governor declared a State of Emergency and everything. I checked the directions online though and there are ways for us to get to the event still so it’s a go. Things are still flooded but getting better. Let’s just hope that we don’t get more rain making it hard for us to get home!
I haven’t been reading much. Or watching much tv. I don’t really know what I have been doing. I did have a girls night the other day which was really great. It is always good to get together with my crew. And I left with five caterpillars! My friend raises caterpillars as well, but her kitchen is under a complete remodel and she is not ready or set up to do it right now – so I got to take them home! I will do another Butterfly Project post this week with updates- time moves fast when you are a caterpillar, as there are changes to report already.
Read Last Week:

I’m on a bit of a Barbara Michaels revisit. I have tried so many books and DNF’d them all – and honestly I think it’s me, not them. I’ve got my mom reading Michaels now too which is neat. I didn’t actually start this one until Friday night so I am not super far into it. I will finish it up this week.
I also started Oceanic by Aimee Nezhukumatathil , which is a gorgeous book of poetry. I am loving it and I want to read more by her.

Reading This Week:

Speaking of Aimee Nezhukumatathil, I am also starting this book by her this week. It has been on my list for a bit and I think it is the right time to read it.
Posted Last Week:
Kindergarten Graduation, Oceans, and Mermaids
Our Butterfly Project – Post #1
Watching:
I think we are going to start watching Sweet Tooth on Netflix tonight. As for what we have been watching, not really much. We have been rewatching Death in Paradise. We love that show and it has been years since we watched the first season. When Wyatt was a tiny baby we used to have to hold him for half an hour after he ate due to reflux, and he ate every two hours so we were pretty much always just sitting holding him or he was eating, since it also took half an hour to feed him the smallest amount of food (like seriously a few a ounces. Preemie life. Lol) That is when we started watching Death in Paradise and it was so funny, even as a little baby he would dance to the theme song. It was like this little chest popping type dance while he was eating. Now he still dances to it. It cracks us up. Anyway. We also watched Luca the other night, and loved it. It was so cute! We felt like it was a real buddy movie, an underdog story, and a story about accepting differences.
I hope the Jurassic Quest works out for you! Bad rain, though, sigh.
I like watching things on Netflix, and have noticed Sweet Tooth.
Enjoy your weekend and the upcoming week! Here are my WEEKLY UPDATES

No problems thank goodness!! We are supposed to have pretty hot and humid weather for the next two days then storms again, with some potential flooding. Bleh.

I hadn’t heard about the flooding there. Flooding is one of the things I dread about the part of the world I live in. I hope you are able to get to your Dino Day today. It sounds like great fun.
You came home with five caterpillars? I need to take a look at your Butterfly Project post. I am curious about what you do.
Aimee Nezhukumatathil is a writer I discovered through World of Wonders. I hope I can find her poetry, too.

The flooding was very local, mainly Detroit and the immediate surrounding area. We don’t flood like other areas of the U.S., but still bad enough that cars were trapped on the freeways and basements were flooded.
I did! Four monarchs and one Eastern BST.
I found her poetry through Hoopla, which is part of our library system, but all online. I am loving it.

I am the same way when it comes to attending things! I need to know where to go, where to park, options when we get there, etc., all ahead of time!

I love gothic suspense, but haven’t had a chance to read Barbara Michaels yet. I’ve heard she’s wonderful! I hope Dino Day was fun. Enjoy your week!

The Jurassic drive thru sounds fun! I love Barbara Michaels and just reread Witch not that long ago. I think the villain in this one may be her most terrifying. I hope you love it! She’s usually a safe read for me when I can’t seem to get into a book. Have a great week!

It was cute! Sort of cheesy lol but the kids loved it and that is what mattered. 🙂
I haven’t read this one is a long time so I am excited to revisit it. I don’t remember it that well! And yes, me too. Barbara Michaels and Mary Stewart are my go-tos!

We also loved Death in Paradise but took a break for a bit when they kept shifting DIs. We watched Luca with Little Miss and her friends the other day.
I am having issues with starting books and not finishing them – not necessarily because I don’t like them but because I keep getting distracted with other things and can’t get back to them. I just finished a couple I committed to reading so this week I get to read what I want.

I have had to take breaks in between each DI too. I feel I am still in mourning over the last one, he was my favorite. (#3) In the rewatch we just saw that the newest DI was actually in an older episode as a different character (maybe from season 3?) Luca was so cute!
Ugh I am feeling the same. I don’t think I dislike these books. I think it is me. And probably some distraction on my end as well. 🙂

The flooding sounds bad there. We could use rain out West. We are in a historic heat wave at the moment, which is very strange. I hope you can get out on the road now.

We are having the weirdest weather too! It is so so hot and muggy, and rainy. It feels like Florida. Lol. We can get around thank goodness on most roads now. Hope you guys get some rain soon, and keep cool!

You make me want to grab one of the 13 Barbara Michaels books I have on my keeper shelves for a reread. I see by checking Fantastic Fiction that I am missing a few. I’m pretty sure I kept my favorites though. BTW I’m the same way about going to things. I also want to know how to get there, when to arrive and what to expect. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

I so relate to this line though! “I haven’t been reading much. Or watching much tv. I don’t really know what I have been doing.” I even wrote something like this in my journal lol, but I have been reading this week and even started watching Kdrama so slowly coming out of the funk or something lol.
Check out my Monday post here! 🙂

Hope the Dino Day worked out, flooding can cause so many problems, we’ve had it too although not where I live. World of Wonders looks like wonderful – will fit right in there with the caterpillars.
