And the Christmas rush is on! I didn’t think I would encounter that this year, since we are not going anywhere and I started Christmas shopping in September. But apparently, I was wrong. I still have a few gifts left to purchase, I need to wrap, send out my cards, and I do want to do some baking for us as well. I did however get the gifts made for my nieces that I wanted to make them, and I got the cranberry infused gin rolling. So I am getting there! Last night we drove around and looked at lights and watched Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Christmas (a fave) so I am feeling a bit more festive. Then this upcoming Saturday we are having our digital bake off, where my friends and I and our families will be all making Yule Logs and then sharing them online with each other! I am excited to see how they turn out.

I am working my way through this and I am really enjoying it! I just need more time. I will probably finish it this week, and if I do, I am starting…

Posted Last Week:

Book Review: Fox Crossing

Watching:

Sherlock (only one left, eek!) Edwardian Farm, Virgin River Season Two, and we just started watching Christmas movies.

And that is about it from here! Stay safe everyone!

  1. I am still waiting on a few gifts and I need to wrap. With the kids home it’s harder but I need to try doing it in the AM when they are sleeping next weekend. I really wanted to bake cookies which is also something I might have to do next weekend. I am really going to be busy next weekend lol.

You sounded like you had a great Saturday night. I LOVE Emmett Otter, I need to get my kids to watch that, I am not sure they ever had, mommy fail! lol

Have a great week, Erin! Happy Reading!

    1. For sure it is harder! I feel like my son and I are connected at the hip these days. Lol. And I feel the same way – “next weekend” is a theme for me right now…

I LOVE Emmet Otter!!!! So far my son is not super excited over it but..maybe one day!

  2. We ordered everything online this year, from a variety of places, and everything should be here in a day or two. It’s a good feeling.

Love the idea of a digital bakeoff. Will there be prizes?

What Christmas movies are you planning to take in? We’ve already seen a bunch of them, and a couple more are coming for me tomorrow at the library. It’s been something to look forward to during this holiday time.

    1. I have stocking stuffers to buy! It’s like the hardest thing to do online. Lol. I might go to a store downtown and race through and get what I can get in 15 minutes or less. LOL.

No, no prizes. It’s just for fun and the challenge, and to feel sort of connected during this season. 🙂

We have to watch Love Actually (my favorite non kids movie), Muppet Christmas Carol, Charlie Brown Christmas, and a weird one called A Claymation Christmas.

    1. Dark Salt Clear is really cool! I know you are west side of the state, not sure how close to the water you are, but it might be interesting for that reason alone. We also watched Fisherman’s Friends on Netflix last night, I guess I am all in on this fishing thing in Cornwall right now. Lol.

  3. It’s just my daughter and I and we don’t fuss about gifts too much. I have stuff for her that I’ve collected over the last few months. I’ll make some favorite foods but I do that every week. We did get our live tree this past week. The bake-off sounds fun to watch anyway.

    1. Sounds like you guys are in good shape for the holiday! Our meal is all planned out and the food is bought that we can buy early – I have the kiddo done, but I do need stocking stuffers. I might have to race through a store and see what I can get in 15 minutes or less. Lol. There is local store in my town that I should be able to get it all done in a shot. Lol.

  4. The digital bakeoff sounds like fun! After watching The Great British Bakeoff–Holidays, I stumbled on some pre-packaged mince pies at World Market. Neither my husband nor I had ever tried one before. I bought them and we ate them as we watched the show. That was a fun touch! And they were really good! The Yule Logs look difficult to bake. The key is to roll it while it’s still hot, apparently! 😀

I’ve read one book by Jenny Colgan and I really enjoyed it. I need to seek out more of her work.

Good luck finishing up your shopping! And with your Yule Log!

    1. Oh how fun! I love doing things like that. And I am glad to hear they were good as well! I am hoping we can manage to make them – lol, but I guess that is part of the fun.

I really like Jenny Colgan – she is one of my faves to comfort read!

      Thanks!

  5. I’m pretty sure Christmas at the Island Hotel is my next book too. I loved the first 3 books so I can’t wait to find out what happens next. Good luck with the Yule log! It sounds like you’re getting into the holiday spirit. Hope you have a great week.

  6. I ordered all my Christmas gifts in advance this year (you never know how deliveries will proceed with Covid) and everybody have received them before Christmas ! At least, they have them ^^ But there always seems to be things left to prepare, no matter how carefully you plan it all. The digital bake off is a good idea 🙂
