My Sunday-Monday Post

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

Last week I mentioned that Wyatt had to have emergency surgery – he is recovering well, and is acting more like himself, just with a few more naps than normal. We spent most of the week laying low, but then braved an outing out to the apple orchard for my SIL’s birthday. We had a nice although slightly damp time. Thursday night I also had a lovely socially distanced evening with my BFF Kelly, where I masked up and went in her house for the first time in 6 months to see her axolotls. Or rather, her daughter’s. I also saw all the new cool pieces that she has added to her home – she has excellent style. Then Saturday my family got together for a quick fire at my brother’s house – drinks and conversation were much needed for our mental health after our past week!

Read Last Week:

Nothing. I didn’t think I would get any reading done, but I tried. I picked up and started reading to DNF three different books. I blame me, not the books though. I did listen to quite a few podcasts though.

Reading This Week:

I am going to start The Sea of Lost Girls by one of my favorite authors, Carol Goodman. I am also hoping to read The Brave Learner by Julie Bogart which has been on my TBR for a while.

Posted Last Week:

A Misty Morning at the Orchard

Watching:

Wild Bill, Parks and Rec reruns (so much Rob Lowe in my life right now), Father Brown, and.. Cobra Kai. Which took me a minute to love but now I am all in with it’s 80s cheesy goodness.

And that is about it for now! We are leaving to go for a hike in a few minutes so I need to get ready. I hope to visit all of you soon!

  1. I am glad Wyatt is doing better, and that you all had some social outings this week! Those can do a lot for our mental health. I haven’t had any yet, but we’re now going to the dining room every other day again.

I keep planning to check out Wild Bill…I am a Rob Lowe fan. Did you ever see him in the show Brothers and Sisters, which is on Amazon Prime?

Enjoy your week and your books, and here are my WEEKLY UPDATES

    1. They were very much needed and appreciated. I am glad that at least you can get to the dining room and see some other people. Our governor just gave the ok to visit people in residence homes for outside only visits for short time frames.

I have not!! I will have to look it up. I did watch some ghosthunting one with him and his sons last year – it was not great but I liked seeing him with his children, it was neat. 🙂

  2. So glad Wyatt is doing better and feeling like himself! And your outing to your friend’s sounds fun. I tried the Brave Learner book and liked it but it didn’t fit my personality exactly. I think I would have gotten more out of it if I had picked it up when my son was younger. Hope you have a great week!

  3. Sounds like a lovely week, minus the stress and recovery of Wyatt’s surgery which it seems went well. I saw his pic from the apple picking post and he looks happy and healthy. We love to walk trails, and I can do some as long as there aren’t too many steep climbs. Stairs and such are not a friend to my body! Family and friends are so important now. Our mental health is as important as our physical. Enjoy your close family times while the little guy is little!

    1. He is doing so well – he is a tough little guy. A little more tired quicker but that’s ok. 🙂 Agree, nature and family are so important right now – and being outside is a perfect way to combine the two right now as well. 🙂 Thanks Rita! Enjoy your walks!

  4. I’m very glad Wyatt is feeling more like himself. There’s nothing scarier than when our kids are hurting, I think.

I’m glad you are able to see family and friends a little more. I’m going in a little bit to our book club gathering outside at the house of one of the members. I’m a little nervous.

I hope these books work better for you than the others you tried last week. I have had a hard time really relaxing into a book. I guess it’s all the turmoil around us these days.

    Have a great week!

  5. Wow! I had to look up axolotls and was surprised! Honestly, I thought maybe it was a décor thing! LOL! They are interesting little guys! I see you like podcasts. Somewhere I learned about From the Front Porch? Thank you for sharing The Brave Learner, especially during this time. I forwarded it to my daughter who is zoom schooling with her four little ones! 
