Last week was our last week of our summer homeschooling sessions. It was a good week! We started one of Wyatt’s ancestry weeks where we learn about the places his family comes from, and our first stop was Hawaii! Billy is Hawaiian and I felt like it was a good week to end the summer learning on. Otherwise, our week was just a week – nothing super exciting happening around here. We have been spending our weekends working around the house, just puttering around. We have been working on little projects, like this soap we made!

Read Last Week:
Finished up the last bit of 100 Things to do in a Forest and posted my review. I also read Enduring Spirits, which is the newest in the Witches of Palmetto Point series I began and devoured at the beginning of the pandemic.
Reading this Week:

I am super excited to begin this one! I have loved the first two in the series and have high expectations for this third installment in The Vine Witch series.
Posted Last Week:
Homeschooling Summer Edition: Hawaii
Friday Favorites, Artist Series: Potters!
Book Review: 100 Things to do in a Forest
Watching:
We are still watching Father Brown and finishing up The Umbrella Academy. We added Wild Bill and Teenage Bounty Hunters to our watchlists though to start as soon as we finish up. Wild Bill is on Britbox and stars Rob Lowe in a British series – should be fun!
That’s all from here this week – stay safe everyone!
I love the idea of ancestry as part of school — you can learn so much about places, history, culture, art — a great idea!

I’d love to learn more about Hawaii. I’ve had many people tell me it’s the most beautiful place in the world.
And look at that soap. Wow.
The Conjurer sounds like great fun. Can’t wait to hear more about it.
Now I need to go take a look at your review for 100 Things to Do in a Forest.
Have a good week!

It was interesting to read about – so different from my own familial roots so it was cool for me as well. 🙂
Thank you!

We’ve started watching Father Brown and just couldn’t get into it! The Umbrella Academy is still on the To be watched list.
Love your home-schooling lesson! Parents do get very creative and I believe the kids benefit from it tremendously.
Hope you will have a good week!

Season one of Father Brown is horrible! I don’t know what happened but it gets better for later seasons. My husband and I talk about this all the time. Lol. But The Umbrella Academy is fantastic! So good.
Thank you! I am really enjoying this time with him, and exploring new topics and watching him learn. 🙂

I had the hugest crush on Rob Lowe when 8 was a teenager and he was part of the Brat Pack, he’s aged well too LOL. Happy viewing!
Wishing you a great reading week

I might start Umbrella academy this week. I need to finish The Rain which is pretty good but I ran out of TV watching time this week lol!

Lol! This time of year I feel like I just can’t squeeze everything in. The Umbrella Academy is so so good!

We started Wild Bill. We haven’t finished the first episode yet because my husband had to get up for work and because the kids came back into the room (Rob has a potty mouth 😉). It’s good so far. I forgot to mention it in my post this week. I think you’ll like it.
That ancestry idea is a good one and I think I will try it with the kids this year. It will be fun to go back to Scotland for my family and Germany for my husband’s.

Good to know that there is swearing! Wyatt has begun to really repeat everything – which is good for his speech but…lol.
We are doing Scotland in November! I am pretty excited about it. I am totally going to do a little mini-focus on Highland cows because they are so darn cute! I want to live somewhere I can have a few lolol.

I always feel I should warn parents about the swearing. Some parents don’t mind but I try not to watch shows with graphic violence, sex or swearing when they are around. Not that I watch tons of those shows, however. lol. Once in a while. We hadn’t watched Wild Bill yet and did have to make sure the youngest had some headphones on.
those cows are adorable. We should include them in our study of Scotland too.

Learning about ancestry is so cool, I’d love to find out about mine one day. I’m presuming it’ll be all Scottish and Irish but I’d love to know for definite!

It is super interesting! I’m American, but I did my Ancestry DNA and according to it, I am 85% Irish/Scottish/English with a teensy bit of French and Italian. They highlight your areas on a world map and it is funny to see mine – it is all clumped in one spot. My husband has a much wider range – the UK, Hawaii, the middle east, Norway. It’s been fascinating to read about.

I was just talking about family with a friend this past week. I knew that I didn’t know much. It wasn’t something we ever talked about when we had the time and people to talk to. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

I know! I really wish I had been able to ask my grandparents more questions when I was younger, but I wasn’t thinking about it back then. I know the basics but it would be cool to have stories to go along with the facts.

The soaps are simply gorgeous! Well done on those. Enduring Spirits looks interesting but I’ve for some reason I haven’t been in the mood for series lately. I’ve been all about the stand alones.

Thank you so much!!
My reading has been so crazy. At the start of the pandemic all I could read were ghost stories. It was weird but it worked. Lol.

Your soap molds came out so nicely detailed. My teen loves the Umbrella Academy. I watched a few episodes of Itaewon Class and then I’ve been binging on Lucifer. I may have the first book of The Vine Witch series on my Kindle; I think there was a good deal. Love how Wyatt learned about the Hawaiian Islands!
