Last week was a pretty good week! After doing some research I decided to replace my laptop with a Chromebook. I don’t use it for much anymore, other than blogging, online shopping, and other playing around on the interwebs. If I create any documents I use Google Drive, and photo editing and graphics creation I use online sites too, PicMonkey and Canva. So, for now this seemed like a perfect solution. And I have to admit, I love my new Chromebook. 🙂 It is super light and easy to use. So yay, I am back in business!  We also did a lot of bumming around the house, which for us is a novelty. Wyatt usually has therapy three times a week so it was nice to have some down time. And then best of all, Billy had a super long weekend, Thursday – Sunday. We bopped around, hitting up our favorite haunts, Belle Isle, the metroparks, my brother’s backyard for a bbq on the 4th. And we even did a new thing – we went out with another couple for dinner and drinks! We had been wanting to try a tiki bar that has been around for slight bit in Detroit, called The Mutiny Bar, and it was so fun. We enjoyed the company and the drinks!

Read Last Week:

The Lost Hours

Karen White is such a go to author for me these days. I wanted something less intense after Crawdads, but this actually turned out to be a pretty emotional read as well! I still loved it, it was an amazing story.

Reading This Week:

I want to try to knock out some NetGalley reads this week, and I picked two from the list to start with.

I also joined up with the Paris in July challenge. Once I decided I was going to join, I put the brakes on my bug book, so I could finish it this month. So I will be reading that as well. I probably will not finish all of these but I am going to give it a try! Lol.

Posted Last Week:

Only one other one, besides my Sunday-Monday.

Hello July!

Watching:

Our tv watching has really slowed down with the summer. We are watching Criminal Minds still on Netflix (there are so many!), and This Farming Life on BritBox because we are apparently obsessed with farms. Lol.

And finally, we have a winner for my Summertime Giveaway! Thank you to everyone who entered! Mary, I will be contacting you shortly!

What about you guys? What is happening in your neighborhood?

  1. I’m fascinated with nature books, and, of course, I love all things French, so I was happy to see A Buzz in the Meadow in your post, and I was even happier to discover that there is one copy at my library. Hopefully, it will come in for me in time to read this month, too, during Paris in July.

When I was a school librarian, we used Chromebooks a lot, and I grew to like them. I looked into getting a Chromebook a couple of years ago, and I’m still interested when this laptop goes out, I think.

    Have a great week!

    1. You will know a lot about insects after! Lol. I am almost done, and it is not too bad! I still need to check out your list!

Yeah, it is not too bad! The young whippersnapper at the store told me that I probably didn’t need much more, unless I wanted to use Photoshop and I don’t. I used to be a photographer in another lifetime before motherhood and I used it quite a lot, but now..just snaps of my son mostly. 🙂

    1. Thanks! And thankfully too, it didn’t set us back too much! We scrounged up all of our old visa gift cards we hadn’t used that we had gotten as gifts and bought it, with just a bit extra thrown in. Lol.

I am looking forward to Forgotten Bones!

  2. The Mutiny Bar sounds fun. 🙂 And I love my chromebook- I love how slim and light it is. I was worried too that I wouldn’t be able to do some things with it, but other than a few games I can’t play on it, it has worked out for me so far.

    1. I am loving the lightness of this Chromebook. I usually have to cart mine all over so it is nice that it is so easy. Lol. The Mutiny Bar was pretty cool!! I greatly enjoyed my drinks…lol. I got the Landlubber, twice. Gin, peach, honey, and some other fruit juice that I can’t remember. 🙂

  3. Congrats on the new Chromebook! That might be a solution for me, too, as my latest laptop fix is probably only temporary. Sounds like you all had a wonderful long weekend. I had a hard time choosing what to read after Crawdads…. that was a hard act to follow!

  4. Oohh, lucky duck! I hope the Chromebook continues to be fantastic. I’ve been actually toying with the idea of getting one myself. Sounds like a pretty solid week. Bumming around the house sounds like a fantastic treat. I feel like this week is going to drain me, you know? Such is life! Also, ooh, Karen White is on my TBR pile in terms of authors I want to check out so I’m taking this as a nudge to get to her sooner rather than later!

Anyways, I hope you have a great upcoming week. Happy reading and living!

    1. Thanks! I am enjoying my new machine! I even decorated it with a sticker already. Lol. Some weeks are rough!! This week is light, thank goodness. We have some weeks where I am like how did this happen?? Lol. Try to get some time to recoup in as well.

I love her! I am not a fan of her Tradd Street series but I love all of her others that I have read. 🙂

  5. Just after I retired from teaching they introduced Chrome books for the students, and yes so much is on line these days as software. Is that a new Karen White book – I must go check that one out and see!

    1. It’s an old one! I am slowly reading through all of her book list. Lol. It was really good.

I laughed when we opened this up at home. Gone are the days of taking ten years after buying a new machine and having to load a million programs – well, at least, if you buy a Chromebook I guess. I am sure it is still done for people with more needs, but this works for me for now! 🙂
