It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date
This past week was a bit blah. I never seemed to have enough time to get stuff done – it was one of those weeks. Too much to do, not enough time! My husband and I did manage to get a few hours at Ikea together, when we left the boyo with his grandparents for a visit. It was nice, although we did spend a bit more than we wanted! And darn it, right on the heels of a Target shopping trip for essentials that should have cost around forty bucks, but ended up being a *little* more. I am also spring cleaning – I am on a purge and splurge I guess! LOL.
We also splurged and bought tickets with my brother and his family to see the Jurassic World Live Tour in November! Wyatt will not like it yet, really loud noises and things jumping out at him startle him too much, so he will be hanging out with a grandma, but it will still be fun – and we will get to hang out with my niece Bean, who loves loves all things dinosaur, especially Blue from Jurassic Park. So it will still be super fun – in November! Lol. We jumped on an email I got for pre-sale tickets so we have some time to wait.
As for our experiments in cooking this week, we made a fantastic spring minestrone soup!
Read Last Week:
Girl Most Likely was a review read from NetGalley that started off promising, but by the end, I was less than enthused. I won’t say I didn’t like it, but I definitely put it in the “It’s ok” category on Goodreads.
I also finally finished Little Dribbling! I loved it. I want to move to England now. Lol. Bill Bryson is hilarious. And Bill Bryson, if you are reading this blog by some bizarre chance and randomness, I would make a great research assistant! And we wouldn’t have to trade houses! (not being strange – he writes about weird fans in his book, and one asked him to trade houses lol)
Reading This Week:
This week we are working on some big stuff with Wyatt, and it is also his spring break, so I won’t have a lot of time to read or blog very much. (I don’t think – who knows!) Fingers crossed I find the time, I am super excited to read the newest book in the Caraval series, Finale! SO excited, that I am changing my plan for the week to read it. This post originally had a different book listed- but I was too excited when I saw I got this book on NetGalley (or NutGalley as it is today..lol)
I am also reading Cozy. At heart in my soul I am a cozy seeking person. Like all the time. This book is perfect for describing me. Lol. My only complaint so far is the overuse of the word “cozy”. I understand that is the whole premise of the book but it seems to be used in ways I would never use it. Maybe by the end of the book, it will all make sense!
Watching:
The Order – we binged this show all week. It was pretty much all we watched until there were no more left! 😦 We also watched a lot of Winnie the Pooh, Wyatt’s current favorite. He loves “Tiggaahh”
Posted Last Week:
I posted about our most recent but short hikes! Bird’s Eye View
How about you all? What is going on in your world?
I love cozy things, too, but maybe the author needs a thesaurus. LOL. Do people still use those? I usually Google things to find synonyms.
The Ikea visit sounds nice. I do love redecorating, so I would go nuts there. But I am trying not to add furniture at this point…unless I’m replacing something.
Enjoy your trip to Jurassic World Live…and your new week. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Lol it is really a weird book but for some reason I like it – although the cozy cozy cozy all the time is grating. Yes, a thesaurus would be handy for the author in this instance!
We are slowly trying to turn our house into a more functional, usable space, in an aesthetic we like. Lol. Sounds so lofty. We just have lived here so long, and without a child, that we need to rethink our use of space. And now that we are older, our tastes have changed too, so we are in the middle of a long, drawn out refresh of our home. It is really fun! We have a pretty small budget but for some reason that makes it more satisfying – we have to think more carefully about our purchases so we end up loving them more. 🙂
Thank you!

Whenever I go to Target, I come home with more stuff than I need. I have to avoid that place. Enjoy the dinosaurs! Have a great week!

Yeah – I hate being that typical Target shopper but I totally am! It’s like a field trip for my son and I! He gets crackers, I get a coffee and off we shop together happily. LOL.
Thanks!

Yes! I kind of loved everything about it!!!
You have A LOT of time for the Jurassic Tour – lol. I posted that I bought tickets but I should have mentioned it comes to Detroit in November!! Lol. I got a an email advertising it with a promo pre-sale code and jumped on it. The code is on the website though, so everyone can do it. And it is actually cheap! We bought close seats for $20 each (before all the extra fees of course..) https://www.jurassicworldlivetour.com/

Lol! Target is totally one of my happy places!! My son and I load up on our snack/drink of choice (Goldfish crackers and a coffee) then tool around slowly shopping together. Lol.
Thanks!

I’ve never been to an IKEA. I’d have to travel 1590 miles or so and I leave all the Target shopping to my brother who works there. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

Target is one of my happy places. I actually hate shopping for the most part, which I think is why I like Target – I can go and get almost everything I need in one shot! Wow that is far for an Ikea! I know they spread them out far. 😦 I remember when our Ikea opened, it was a really big deal. Now that area is super built up with hotels, etc and jam packed on the weekends. I usually try to go on rainy mornings, when they first open for the day. Lol. Even better if it is a weekday. 🙂

Haha it was actually really fun! I kind of like my slowly becoming Marie Kondo’d house. 🙂 Lol. I have a few more rooms I want to go through. It’s been a while so it is definitely needed!
Thanks!

A little shopping therapy with a bit of over spending. Hope you love the things you got and then its all okay! The Bill Bryson book looks good, and a bit of humor always helps.

I think it was pretty therapeutic! Getting rid of stuff, getting new – it was nice. I’m not a big spender usually for the most part so it was ok. 🙂 I love Bill Bryson, and that book was really interesting.

Enojy spring break! I hope the weather warms up for us all. Jurrasic World would be too intense for my grandkids too, even though they love dinosaurs.

I underestimated how busy it would be with Wyatt here everyday all day!! LOL. I guess a small preview for summer. I need to start making a summer vacation plan! We have had so much fun, but it’s been nonstop. 🙂
Yeah, it looks like it could be kind of scary for kids, for sure!

Me too! I haven’t had too much time to read, due to spring break and my son keeping me hopping! I forgot how nonstop it is when he is home all day. Lol. I am looking forward to getting some reading in soon.

The IKEA trip sounds fun! We don’t have one near us so I haven’t bought anything big from there but I have dreams of large clean lined storage units fixing all our problems. The Jurassic World Live Tour sounds so fun! I think my son would be iffy on the noises and things jumping out and he’s 9! I love Bill Bryson though it’s been far too long since I’ve read anything by him. He needs to write faster! Hope you’re having a great week!

I know right~ I feel like I could organize my whole life with Ikea! My husband and I like to nerd out and go and make lists of what we need for each room. Lol. Plus they have great meatballs, vegetarian ones too. The Jurassic Tour is going to be fun but yes for sure, I think it could be really intense for some kids!
Bill Bryson does need to write faster. Lol. And take more adventures so we can read about them.

I put off all shopping for as long as possible and then try to stick to a list. I’m sort/throw/organizing a lot right now. Currently there are 7 boxes in my bedroom and piles of clothes, some in the boxes with different categories of where they need to go.
Enjoy your new reads!

I usually do! I am a list person and I am pretty good about sticking to it too. My grandpa who was the same would be so proud of me. But it was fun to deviate for a minute from my norm though too. 🙂 I have a few more rooms I want to go through and donate/get rid of stuff from- my little guy goes back to school next week so I will probably start then! 🙂 Good luck with your sorting!
