I am linking up with Deb at Readerbuzz, Kathryn at Book Date, and Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
Hello everyone!! We had such a great day yesterday. We went to the orchard and hiking and I made pumpkin pie. It was just… a day that I really needed.
Books:
I didn’t read very much last week. I was so tired at the end of the night that I ended up turning in early all week. I did manage to finish my Murder She Wrote book though!

This was such a fun read, and I loved “being in” Cabot Cove for Halloween. Maine in the fall seems like it would be gorgeous!
This week I have a problem! I have too many books that I want to read and I don’t know where to start. I have a few I am thinking about this week.

Sigh. Such problems. Lol. I will probably read The Unknown first since that is due back soon.
Screens:
Last week Billy and I watched a movie with Jessica Brown-Findlay from Downtown Abbey for our Sweater Weather Movie, called The Banishing. It was a little meh, honestly. I expected a bit more. I will do my post on it this week.
We also started watching Below with Josh Hartnett. This one is a real ride of a show. Scary, well acted, and I would love to hear from someone with knowledge about Newfoundland accents their opinion on how well the actors are handling it.
I posted a few times last week:

Top Ten Tuesday: Books by Indigenous Authors
Remember, I am cohosts with Lisa at Boondock Ramblings and Cat at Cat’s Wire, of the linkup A Good Book and a Cup of Tea for all things books -not just books read or reviews, but bookstore visits or author visits or whatever else bookish you can think of! You can find the link up for October here! (and I am catching up on this today!!)
In-Betweens:
It was a full week over here, full of fall activities, friends, and family. And, owl pellets. Wyatt and I have been reading Poppy by Avi for his school read aloud, and I am pairing it with an owl study, specifically Great Horned Owls. However, we didn’t have a great horned owl pellet so I used what we had – a barn owl and a screech owl. I remember doing it in grade school and I thought this was the perfect time to do it with Wyatt. I couldn’t get over how many little bones we pulled out of those things! We still have to glue them all down, something I am dreading but Wyatt is excited for. Lol.

And I think that is it from me this morning. I hope that whatever you do today, you do something that makes you smile, even if it is just a small thing!
I always like the dilemma of which book to choose when I have several. Lately I’ve been struggling to find titles I’m interested in. BTW – the October link-up party has ended. I tried last week but must have missed it.
Oh no! It is supposed to go until the end of the month! I will have to message Lisa – there must have been a hiccup there somehow.
The Haunted Librarian is on my TBR, I don’t know if I’ll get to it, but it sounds good! My mom watched Below and said it was good. I think it is on Netflix? I am not paying for that service right now, so it will have to wait for me. I hope you have a good week, the owl pellet dissection is always a fun thing to do with kids!

Lol that is how my TBR is rolling right now too. Yeah it is on Netflix. Maybe it will be streaming somewhere else soon. The owl dissection was a fun change!
I got The Haunted Librarian last week and I want to start it soon, it seems perfect for October!
Hope you have a good week.
Your day really did look fun I saw on Threads also. I am just all in on the election work now, about double at least what I expected to do. Please get out and vote.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
I’ve got my ballot! I am ready!
Is the Murder, she wrote book about the series or is it an actual Murder, she wrote mystery…I didn’t know the latter existed. Is it a standalone or a whole series?
Wait…WHAT??? Is pulling things out of owl pellets exactly what I think it is? Gahhhhhh. So gross. But I can see how a kid would be excited for it. Excuse me while I go take a hot shower. Feeling kinda icky now.
It sounds like you’ve had a great week! I love all the fall reads right now!
I remember dissecting owl pellets with the boys and being really surprised by how much we were able to find in what did not feel like a big pile. It sounds like a really lovely day yesterday. We headed to Evan’s college for parents’ weekend and despite the chilly weather had a great time.
Doesn’t look like there are any bad choices for your next read – they all look interesting! And so funny you should ask about Newfoundland accents – a lot of theaters near us (and my daughter away at college) just did the show/musical Come From Away, which is set in Gander, Newfoundland 🙂
I think I would pick The Unknown from your book pile too😁 I’m not sure about the owl pellet thing (eew) but I’m glad Wyatt is enjoying it!
Oh, owl pellets are the coolest things, aren’t they? We did them at the overnight camp we attended at the end of the year. That way, we didn’t have to come up with all the supplies and deal with the mess. I can’t wait to hear about the Riley Sager book!

Picking out and identifying bones in owl pellets is one of kids’ favorite activities at the open houses our naturalist group hosts at Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge. I wish I had a photo of the chart kids use there, but maybe it is available online. Trying to decide which book to read is a good problem, I think.
So glad that you got the day you needed, Erin. That is so important. I really need to read more Murder, She Wrote books. I will never catch up with the series, but I have liked the ones I read. In some ways, I am glad my girls are beyond school projects. Enjoy deciding on your next book.

I honestly don’t see how your pull off all you do, Erin. Books, movies, school and lots of fun activities. What a week, but it sounds like a good one.
