I am linking up with Deb at Readerbuzz, Kathryn at Book Date, and Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
Hello everyone!! I hope that the past week has been good to you! It’s been a whirlwind of course around here, but a very fun whirlwind filled with family.
Books:
I found that I couldn’t read before Christmas. I think there was just too much happening, and I couldn’t relax. However, the day after Christmas I picked up a book and immediately just had that comforting feeling that you get when you sink into a good book. I am loving this one so far!

I also started listening to an audiobook as well. I was scrolling through Libby for a nonfiction book to listen to when I wanted to listen to something quiet, and ran into Dinner for Vampires written and read by Bethany Joy Lenz. I just saw her in A Biltmore Christmas, which is fresh in my mind, so I ended up starting that one last night. It is interesting so far. When we were younger, Billy and I really liked One Tree Hill for a season or two, so I remember this show as well.

Screens:
We spent some time over the past week watching Christmas movies, our old favorites, with the grand finale favorite of A Muppet Christmas Carol. That movie never fails to make me smile. We haven’t watched much post-Christmas Eve, but I am hoping to watch a movie tonight.
Wyatt and I finished up YouTuber Morgan Long’s Vlogmas series, which was a nice little bit of Christmas Cheer as well.
I posted a few times last week too.

In-Betweens:
The in-betweens today are all holiday related! I will probably do another Christmas post, one last Comfy Cozy Christmas post, but mainly last week I did a lot of baking and wrapping, like a lot of people I am sure. Wyatt and I also spent some time on Friday just sitting at the table, working on our own projects. He was painting and playing with stickers while I worked on my planner. I got a new planner this year, a Hemlock and Oak planner, and I am loving it.

I feel like I have so much to tell you guys, way too much for this post. Plans for next year, projects, everything we have done. I feel like I am bubbling over with stuff to talk about but I try to keep this post less chatty! I will be posting soon, I can tell.
Hosting:
Just a reminder, Lisa at Boondock Ramblings and I co-host a few linkups and a Zoom Crafternoon together!
We have our Comfy Cozy Christmas for all things December and holidays (not just Christmas) that will be closing soon.
We also have A Good Book and a Cup of Tea which is for all things bookish, and is a monthly linkup.
We had paused our Crafternoons for the holiday months, but will be resuming them in January. Be on the lookout for an update post with dates!
Finally, I also have a link up for Soup and Story Saturday. That is also on hiatus until after the New Year but will resume in 2026!
And with that, I hope that you are all find a warm (or cold) drink to enjoy today and do something that makes you smile!
I will try to link up to your monthly linkup starting in January. I’m not quite sure when you start and end each month, but maybe I can figure it out.
It looks like you had a great holiday. I like to start a new journal at the beginning of the year, both online and something I can write in.

Lisa is much better with deadlines than I am. It must be the journalist in her. Lol. I am very like, oops, I missed the date! So the bookish one always starts on the very first of the month and ends on the last day of the month.
I like a written journal as well. There is just something so satisfying to me about writing things down.

Well I can’t waiit for your next post to hear what you are planning. Love the new planner…I am always looking at them in stationary sections and buy too many notebooks and pens.

That planner got me all in the mood to plan things! LOL. I am also a stationary and pen addict. I love using a paper and pen planner though, rather than digital.

How exciting to be brimming over with plans and ideas! Look forward to hearing about them. I ordered a new year planner yesterday after deciding not to get another one because I didn’t tend to use it beyond January….

I love my planner. Lol. I have a lot of appointments for my son to keep track of, but I also like to write in my planner good things that happened that day too. 🙂

I’ve never seen One Tree Hill, but I love Bethany Joy Lenz in Hallmark and Lifetime movies. Snowed Inn Christmas is one of my favorites. It’s on Lifetime. I bought a blank dotted notebook that I’m going to use as my Bullet Journal next year. I guess I should set that up, as January begins in just a few days! Have a great week! 🙂

I didn’t realize that Lifetime had movies like this too! I will have to add this one to the list. I also saw that you said there is going to be a second Biltmore Christmas! I am already excited for it.
I have been getting all my notebooks and planners and journals ready. I am such a dork. Lol.

I am still sorting through all of that too. What do I want to write about, etc.
And thank you Jeanie! I hope to catch up with your blog this week!

Glad to hear it was such a nice holiday. We didn’t watch any Christmas movies, just too much else going on. My daughter did watch The Grinch this afternoon. Happy New Year!

I can’t wait to read what you think of The Bewitching. I loved Mexican Gothic! I am so impressed by everything you accomplish. I feel like a real underachiever. Not only do you read loads of books, you “journal” about them. I am not a planner kind of person, but I loved filling out my teaching planner…go figure! I really should do a book post again, but some months are so slim. I’ll try really hard this year, but that’s not a resolution. I also hope to join in on Crafternoons because it’s such a wonderful way to meet up with everyone!
Have a wonderful week, Erin!

So far I am loving The Bewitching. It took me a minute to get into, but now I am all in. And thank you but, I feel like I do nothing! You are out there docenting at a museum! You took a year long (it seemed like?) class to do it! That is so cool!!
I am such a paper and pen and list kind of person. When Wyatt was little (and even still now) he would make pretend lists, because that is what I do (except mine are real). Lol. He would ask what I need and then write it down. It was so cute.
I have a fashion goal this year. We will see how I do. LOL.
I would love if you could make Crafternoons when you can!

So glad your holiday whirlwind was so fun! I had to laugh when you said you were looking for a nonfiction audiobook and came across the fiction audiobook. I can’t tell you how often I get sent in another direction where books are concerned. Your planner looks joyful!

Lol!! I am a very changeable person like that. Lol. It is nonfiction though, although it looks like a Sweet Valley High. I think that is one thing that drew me to it. LOL. It is a memoir about her life, and how she ended up in a cult and how she left it.

Making plans for the coming year is my favorite thing to do between Christmas and the New Year. Often, I stretch that to Epiphany!

A Biltmore Christmas! That was filmed in my hometown. They’re starting to film another one in January. I don’t think it’s a direct sequel. They’re looking for extras and I’m trying to convince my mom that she should try out. She loves Hallmark movies.
I started going to adult craft afternoons at the local library while my husband was working in Georgia. It was all the retired ladies and me! I brought the average age down quite a bit, even though I’m closer to 50 than I can believe. I had a good time with them though. It’s time to move on to his next work assignment now. I looked ahead and the library at our next place also has adult crafts. I’m excited!
I adore planners and journals and pens but rarely use them more than a month or two. I finally scaled back and just have a refillable journal with a monthly calendar where I write down all the interesting things we do and then sections for other things I want to track, like a list of the books I’ve read for the year, the hikes we’ve done, or poems I find. It’s a bit too list-y but it’s sustainable for me.
My husband loves A Muppet Christmas Carol. I never watched it when I was young so I’m not attached to it like he is. I plan most of our activities and I always forget about that movie. I need to make a bigger effort to incorporate it into our holidays. Sounds like a good note for a planner list!
Happy New Year!

Bryan and Kim watched The Muppet’s Christmas Carol for the first time for Bryan and the first time in many years for Kim. She also watched Emmet Otter’s Jugband Christmas.
I have a lot of plans this year too. Let’s see if they pan out or not! First, I need to finish writing this book!

I’m looking forward to the Crafternoons returning, I really enjoyed them last year and it was nice to “meet” some new people and find some new blogs to read. Thank you for hosting those. I read two novellas and a slim volume of verse on Christmas Day, however I don’t have a quiet Christmas by choice but by circumstance; thank goodness for Christmas Day parkrun!
