In case you missed Part 1: So, on November 22, 2024 I started a little book book, as I call it, but it is a journal of the books I have read with a few jotted thoughts, quotes I like, and stickers. I am an archivist and chronicler at heart, and I have been having so much fun journaling my reading experience this way. I thought it would be neat to share my favorite quotes from all the books I have read – in different parts of course.
“What any woman wants is not for you to decide. You would do well to remember that.”
This is actually a quote from the translator’s note.
“This book catalogs the many pleasures of reading: the joy of discovering a new author; the hedonism of staying up too late to finish a book; the surreptitious thrill of getting to know someone by reading their favorite book; and the freedom of walking into a bookstore and scanning the titles, waiting for something to catch your eye..”

“There was something so special about a notebook without a single note in it. It felt like touching pure potential.”

Phew. Part two done, and we have made it to May in my journal. I did skip over Watership Down, which I read in-between Greenteeth and A Prayer for the Crown Shy.

Still Life, With Cracker Crumbs.. 
I have been thinking about starting something similar in my Everyday Journal so THANK YOU for offering up your process and examples. In my younger years (20+ years ago) I had a journal devoted to poems and song lyrics that I wanted to keep close at hand…I wonder if I still have it somewhere? Anyhow, thank you for the renewed inspiration!

This is a great idea. So many times I think “I know they said something perfectly” but I can’t find it again or have passed the book on.

I think I stole this idea from you this year…maybe? I think we were talking about it last year. I failed miserably at it and didn’t keep up with the quotes but I am going to try to do it again this year. We will see how it goes.

Lol who knows! We talk about so many things like this I am not sure who has what idea anymore. Lol. I really like filling out the page after I read. It’s very satisfying and it is fun to find stickers or whatever to decorate the page.

Satisfying is the right word. That’s how it feels when I write down the name of the book I finished.

I love this and really should journal as I read. I’m sure that keeps the book current in your mind as you refer back to your journal. I haven’t read any of these books, but they sound really good.

It definitely helps me when I want to talk about the book later! I have my little notes, sometimes which are numerous like in Chlorine, some that are just a few jotted words of quick thoughts. This was a lot of fun and I am excited to keep going with it.
