So, on November 22, 2024 I started a little book book, as I call it, but it is a journal of the books I have read with a few jotted thoughts, quotes I like, and stickers. I am an archivist and chronicler at heart, and I have been having so much fun journaling my reading experience this way. I thought it would be neat to share my favorite quotes from all the books I have read. It will be multi-part, because it would be like a crazy wall of text post if I did it all at once.

Jan. 4, 2025 – 1st book of the year!
This is just a snippet of a quote.
“…a little life surrounded by love and hope and magic.”
Jan. 5, 2025
“She and Coco were sitting in the kitchen of the Egg, Ollie’s rambling old farmhouse. They’d gotten themselves mugs of hot chocolate and were seeing who could build the biggest marshmallow pyramid on top.”

Jan. 7, 2025
“Too many men were raised by families that expected them to hide their emotions at all costs.”
Jan. 14, 2025
“…all around us the earth had erupted with silver rabbits washing their faces with moon dew.”

Jan. 26, 2025
“I mourned the loss of older lighthouses like Pottawatomie. There was something magical and romantic about them.”
Feb. 1, 2025
“Matthias gazed upwards, feeling as if he were slowly turning with the silent Earth.”

Feb. 5, 2025
“Either her laugh is starting to sound attractive – or I really am going mental.”
Feb. 8, 2025
“Shooting stars and auroras – things people come to love without the need to interrogate what makes them beautiful.”

Feb. 9, 2025
“Allow yourself to be where you are”
Feb. 16, 2025
“Being content with not being some extraordinary, larger than life badass, and instead loving being me. Sometimes talking too much. Often daydreaming about nothing. Being a good archaeologist, even if it means never being a great one. Telling corny jokes. Being known for always bringing the best snacks. And wearing fanny packs like they are going out of style.”

I think I am going to like this lookback.
I hope that whatever you do today, that you do something that makes you smile!
Sweet idea! I’m not a journaler at all, I can never keep those things going (not even calendars!).

Lol!! I am pretty good at recording things. I love when I finish a book and can do all this with it. Like a giant nerd. 🙂

This is such a fun idea! Did you have a hard time picking just one quote? I think I would really struggle with that.

I have little easy removable sticker tag things that I mark as I read. Then when I am done I go through and write down my favorites in the book. For this post I picked my favorite of my favorites. Lol. Then I take all the sticker tags out because they are 99% of the time library books. I do have so much fun! Sometimes for a mystery I will write in what clues gave it away to me, etc.

I didn’t know there was another book after Small Spaces! I read that one to my kids ages ago and we all really liked it. I also love the idea of keeping a journal/notebook of your favorite quotes!

There are four in total! I have read three of the four so far. This one was my favorite!

I love this idea! I need to do better about jotting down/remembering the quotes that I love in books. I have started underlining them in my personal copies that I know I’ll be keeping, but it’s not quite the same as having them somewhere “browsable” 🙂

I underline in my copies, and then with library books I use little book sticker tag things, that are easily removable. Obviously I don’t want to hurt the books! Maybe I will do a post on this!

Your journaling is amazing! I have never gotten into the habit even though I was supposed to teach my students to do it. I wish you’d been around then to help me! It’s a wonderful way to remember a book, though!

Thank you Marsha! Part of the fun is that I get to pick stickers for each book so I think that helps drive me. Lol. I have a few books of stickers that I choose from.

What a fun idea! I may try this in 2026. I especially like the quote from Temple of Swoon – and I’m not a romance reader.

I don’t read many romances either, but I read two this year that I really liked. Temple of Swoon and The Jewel of the Isle. I really liked that one a lot. Lol.

I have Redwall on my list. So my comment on part two should have been left here. Ha! But, yes, I am pretty sure I stole this idea from you and then failed at keeping up with it. Maybe I’ll better in 2026.
