Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl
This week’s topic is beach reads! I read in phases and it has been a bit since I read books set in beachy settings, so most of my titles are going to be older. This was a fun trip back into my reading past, and it made me want to read a few of these authors again!
Let’s dive in! (Sorry, sorry, couldn’t resist!)

Haunted Ever After is probably one of my faves on this list. It has a haunted house but hey it is set in Florida on the beach so it counts!
Where the Crawdads Sing sung to my soul guys. I loved all the nature collections that Kya had all over her house, and her wild life. Her life as a child also made me profoundly sad, and while I want to watch the movie I am not sure I can handle the sadness. Let me know if I should watch it!
I love that Stephen King has a beach read! This was a great one by King, and I remember wondering if I was going to like a King book set in Florida. I did.

I have not read the Liz Talbot books in a while but I loved them for a while.
Jenny Colgan takes us to a beach in the far north, one that sees winter snow and long nights.
And RaeAnne Thayne was a must read author of mine forever and ever. This is one of my favorites.

I wanted to end with the authors who in my mind will always mean beach reads, Mary Kay Andrews and Dorothea Benton Frank. I know there are newer authors out there that mean summer and beaches, like Carley Fortune and Katherine Center, but to me, Mary Kay Andrews and Dorothea Benton Frank will always be the Queens of the Beach read (although I do want to read Carley Fortune, and I think Katherine Center was inspired by my favorite coastal city in Michigan, Saugatuck, for one of her books, so I should read that too.)
This was a fun post, a quick dip, taking me back to some old favorites!
Beach books and summer belong together!
They really do!
What a fun post diving into your beach reads! I love how you revisit those older favorites and your unique take on what counts, like the King and the haunted house. It’s great to see Mary Kay Andrews and Dorothea Benton Frank get their rightful crown as “Queens of the Beach Read.” Thanks for sharing these great picks!
Thanks Teresa!!
I don’t think I’ve read Duma Key yet. I’ll have to check it out.
Thanks for visiting me earlier.
I don’t remember it well, but I do remember I liked it!
Now I wish I could go to the beach!

I had fun putting this one together!
Dottie Frank and MK Andrews are totally classic beach reads! (Sidenote: Dottie was also incredibly nice and wonderful in person too!)
I love Jenny Colgan’s “beach” too – the wild north Scotland, so far removed from our beaches … but fascinating and mesmerizing.
That is cool that you met her!!! I love her books. I definitely to revisit some of them. One day. Lol.
And yes, I love Colgan’s beach settings! They are probably more to my speed than a warm sandy beach somewhere.
I’m so glad you like Dottie Frank. I actually cried when she passed. Hers are some of the few I read over and over again. Yes, you should watch the movie. It’s beautifully done.

Ok. I am going to do it. I am going to watch the movie. Lol. I feel like I have wanted to but have been too nervous to do it.
I love her books too. They are so good.
When I think of beach reads Mary Kay Andrews and Dorethea’s books always make my list!
Right?? They mean beach read to me.
Haunted Ever After is still on my TBR but I did love Crawdad! I read parts of that on the beach when I used to live on an island. It was lovely 🙂
That would be a perfect way to read Crawdad! That does sound lovely.
I LOVE the “look” and title of Jen’s book but haven’t really read much about that one. Anytime I see it though I’m reminded that it makes me curious. 😉 Thanks so much for visiting my list today!
Duma Key is a good one for this time of year!
Such great choices. I still need to read Where the Crawdads Sing. I didn’t know King had a beach read. Huh! Thanks for sharing and for visiting my blog.
I really liked it! I am looking forward to the next one in that series, which I think comes out this fall!
I read Duma Key a while ago and remember really loving it but I cannot remember a single thing about it anymore! Maybe it’s time for a reread. Haunted Ever After sounds really interesting too, I love books about haunted houses!

Lol I don’t remember much about it either!! I remember I liked it. That is about it.
I really liked Haunted Ever After. A haunted house is one of my favorite settings!
I love Mary Kay Andrews’ books. They are always perfect for the beach. I have Haunted Ever After on my TBR. I need to move it up. Sounds so good.
Haunted Ever After was fun. I am looking forward to the next one in the series! And I could not think of making a list about beach reads without Mary Kay Andrews.
I loved Crawdads and the film is excellent as well. I definitely recommend it. Can’t go wrong with a Jenny Colgan book 🏖️
I am going to do it. I am going to watch it. This weekend maybe! And I love Jenny Colgan.
I love beach books, but I will read anything at the beach. Lots of pretty covers!
I’m more likely to read a book set at the beach than actually read at the beach. Lol. I hate being hot! I’m such a wuss.
I enjoy reading Jenny Colgan’s books. There’s just something about them that feel cozy.

I 100% agree!!
Crawdads is such an excellent choice! I also like Jen DeLuca’s other series for this type of read too.
I was just looking at her books at the library the other day! I will have to check them out.
Our book club went to see Where the Crawdads Sing at the movies after we read the book, and everyone loved it.
I will definitely have to watch it. I am glad that I asked about it!
I really like Jenny Colgan’s books but I don’t seem to be able to fit them into my reading at the moment!
I have so many books and authors like that! If only I could read faster.
I’ve wanted to read Jenny Colgan and Mary Kay Andrews. I need to write them down so I can remember when I want a new author. These really do look perfect for beach reads.
I think you will really like them both!
Andrews is definitely the perfect summer/beach read!!
Yes! I need to revisit some of her books!
Great list! Haunted Every After was so fun and I’m about to start the 2nd book and can’t wait!
I’m so jealous!! I am excited to read that one!
Your dive in joke got a laugh from me. Good one! I remember hearing about Where the Crawdads Sin when it came out but I haven’t read it. Good list!
Lol! Thank you Carla!!
I don’t usually read the big books that everyone loves, but I did that one and I was really happy that I did.
Haunted Ever After sounds appealing to me 🙂 And all of these covers are making me want to go to the beach!
I loved Haunted Ever After. It was so cute!
Aww it does look cute 😀 👻🧡
I think Haunted Ever After is the only one I would pick up from these. It sounds cool. The others have cute covers though.
I loved Haunted Ever After. It was so cute!!
Great list! I enjoyed Where the Crawdads Sing, despite the controversy with the author that came to light later on. And I had no idea that Stephen King had a book set on a beach (or outside of Maine, for that matter). I’ll have to check it out.
