Hello everyone! So, it has been over a week since my kiddo had surgery. It was really rough at first, for all of us, and somethings are still not easy, but they are getting better. Wyatt is feeling more like himself these days, doing all the Wyatt things and most importantly, smiling and joking and laughing. I can’t tell you how much I missed those things.
As for reading, I have had a hard time concentrating when I have gotten the chance to read. I did find that the Camper and Criminals series by Tonya Kappes has been perfect for this time. They are fast, short, reads, that are not super complex. They are absolutely what I need right now, although I might try to read something different this week too. If not, I will just keep on reading this series for a bit longer.

Sometimes you just need cozy comfort reads.

Watching:
Billy and I are watching all kinds of things right now. We are watching Dark Winds, Death Valley, The Great Canadian Pottery Throw Down, and Edwardian Farm for the millionth time. We are also watching a lot of YouTube. Wyatt absolutely loves the YouTuber Liv from Liv’s Library, and after his surgery, her channel was one that kept him calm when he was struggling. The hospital staff were so tickled by this little ten year old boy who wanted to watch Booktube, but, that’s my kid. Lol. I have been watching a lot of the older videos by Harm’s Honey, and we are still watching videos by Plant Based Bride and With Love Kristina as well.
I want to add too, that I messaged Liv and told her how Wyatt has been watching her channel in his recovery and how her videos really helped him manage some of his pain. And she took the time to write me back the sweetest message, which I thought was so nice!
And that is it from me today! I hope that you all are doing well!
So glad to hear that Wyatt is feeling better – it must be the worst feeling in the world to watch your child struggle and not be able to make the pain go away. And I think it’s wonderful that he wants to watch Booktube:)). I hope the coming week is a really good one for all of you.

It is horrible!!! I am so thankful that his pain has really decreased. My poor baby. He is so cute with his books and booktube. I love it too. And thank you. 🙂

Nothing worse than having your child sick and wishing you could make it all better. Stressful. I am glad Wyatt is improving and I know you missed him laughing and playing.
You have me wanting to check out that pottery throwdown show!

Having his little personality back is the best. I know that he is feeling better finally.
It’s so good!

That’s cool that Liv wrote you back. Very relieved that things with Wyatt have settled a bit. That has to be anguish for a parent. Hang in, my friend.

It was pretty cool! I was impressed honestly. And my baby. I am so relieved! Just a few more weeks.

Me too! It’s no longer hanging over us and we are in the healing and recovery phase. A few more weeks of this gear he has to wear and then I know he will feel normal again.
It is so cute. I love that he loves Booktube. Lol.

It’s wonderful that Wyatt is starting to get back to being his old self. I’m glad he is starting to feel better. And I’m glad you are both finding things to take your mind off your worries while he is recuperating.

He is such a tough kid. I hate that he has to be so tough, but that is just where we are. He is feeling better though and we are moving forward!

I thought it was so nice! I didn’t expect it!
I have definitely had a bit more reading time, since Wyatt is sleeping off and on still. I try to relax and rest up when he does just like when he was a baby lol.

Thank you. And mine too. I try to restrict my screen time, just like I do Wyatt’s. Lol.

Sometimes we just need those comfort reads and watches. I don’t blame you at all. The Astrid Lindgren one looks interesting. She wrote Pippi Longstocking too, didn’t she? Or maybe I have the names mixed up. I’m too lazy to look it up online right now.

I feel grateful for finding this series! And she is the author of Pippi, you are correct!

It’s great you and Wyatt found books and video to help with your struggles this week. Wonderful he is feeling better. We actually had 6 medical appts last week but most were checkups . The heat doesn’t make it fun to go running around.

Oh my gosh! I hate when I have those weeks, with appt after appt. But then I guess they are also done then too. And no, when it is hot I don’t want to do very much.

Aw, that is super cool that Wyatt enjoyed listening to the Booktuber and she responded to your message! I am having a hard time focusing (mostly at night), but sometimes things are hard, and even reading ends up being hard. I love the idea of comfort reads, which don’t need as much brain power. Praying this week goes smoothly and Wyatt continues to heal.

I wasn’t expecting that at all either. It was so nice of her. It made Wyatt smile!
I have a really hard time reading when I am upset or anxious. There is just no room in my brain to process a book. These are so short (164 pages!) and pretty simple. I don’t need to concentrate too hard on them. Lol. When I can’t read I usually end up embroidering and watching Youtube. I hope that things get better for you as well.

Oh no! I hope everything is going ok for you right now and it is just summer making it difficult for you to concentrate on reading.
Wyatt is doing well, thank goodness. We have our next challenge when my husband goes back to work on Wednesday, and my dad is coming to help me with him instead.

Oh good luck to Wyatt post-surgery and I hope he feels a bit better each day. It was hip surgery right? He’s an impressive kiddo and I feel he will conquer this in time. I hope you & Billy are holding up in light of this.

Glad Wyatt is getting better and smiling. I love that it was a booktube video that he enjoyed. Probably some comfort since his mom is a reader with all the books in his life I’m sure! I feel the short and easy books when things are stressful or tense, have dealt with that with family illness and death in the past few years. Hopefully Wyatt is continuing on the healing path this week and you are reading more good books.

He cracks me up with his book ladies, but I also love that he likes to watch them. It is a nice quiet time for us before our bedtime read.
It’s like all I can read when things are too stressful and I am anxious. I just can’t concentrate very well on anything. I can’t do complex!
And thank you!

How lovely of Liv the YouTuber. That’s reminded me that when I (as mentioned before) read all those Debbie Macombers when recovering from an op, I messaged her to say thakn you and she sent me a card!!! Glad to see things are improving – how many more books to go in your series?
