Hello everyone! I hope you all had a good week. Our week was very quietly busy, if that makes sense. Lots of appointments, lots of being at home. We did have a scare on Friday night. My dad was struck on the head by a baseball at a game and knocked unconscious! They transported him to the hospital by ambulance, where thankfully all his tests came back good!
What I have been reading:

Home Before Dark by Riley Sager. I was late to the party on this author, which I am thankful for on some level because now there are a ton of books I still haven’t read. Every time I pick up one of his books, I end up reading it compulsively until I finish. I can’t put them down! This one is maybe my favorite of the books I have read by him so far.
Death by Beach Read was also a very good read, but not as riveting as Home Before Dark. However, I don’t read them for that same thrill; I read them because they are just more relaxing and chill.
What I am reading this week:

Beaches, Bungalows, and Burglaries is a book I started on audiobook and decided I wanted to finish reading with my actual eyeballs. And Anywhere You Go sounds pretty cute so I am giving it a whirl.

Our Cozy Little Life Update…and a Mystery!
Watching:
Billy and I have been watching a mix of things lately. Brokenwood, Beyond Paradise, Wheel of Time, and last night we started The Essex Serpent, which was excellent!
We finished up our Springtime in Paris, and I miss it! It is fun to have a “Movie of the Week”. Lisa and I love doing our movie themed watches, but with our families dealing with some different things, we probably won’t do another one together here on the blog until fall.
Tonight, I think Billy and I might watch the movie Holland starring Nicole Kidman. It takes place in Western Michigan, and while her accent sounds all off in previews, I am curious about it. I love that area of Michigan. It is one of our favorite areas to visit! And now I need to know if that is how I sound to people?
And that is it from around here today! I hope that whatever you do today, you do something that makes you smile!
I enjoyed the movie activities this spring, too. I look forward to doing more in the fall.
I’ve seen several others reading books in the Beaches, Bungalows, and Burglaries series, and they seem to have enjoyed them.

Thanks Deb! I am so glad that you participated!
It is a fun series so far! And if I end up really liking it, it seems like there are a billion more I can read. Lol.

I put some of the ebooks by Sager on my library list, I hadn’t heard of him before, no surprise since I read more vintage books than newer ones.
Glad to hear your father is okay, what a scare!

Sager is so good! At least I think so. Lol. I hope you do as well!
Oh my gosh it was so scary! We saw him yesterday though and he is fine, thank goodness.

Holy cow, I hope your father is ok. That must have been scary.
I love baseball and follow it on my phone but can’t watch it from where I live now. But once we move I will have internet for the first time and will be checking in with you and other bloggers for tv and movie suggestions.
Just checked out the trailer you posted for Holland and I will add that to my list. I lived in Owosso but I don’t think I ever lost my Philly accent.

Such a weird freak scary accident! He was with my 17 year old nephew, who had the presence of mind to call his mom. He did good.
I think it is mandatory for anyone who has lived in Michigan to watch Holland. Lol. Owosso is such a cute little town!

Oh my goodness – your poor father! So glad to hear he’s checked out okay. I’m also enjoying Beyond Paradise right now. Hope the coming week is a good one for you.

I’m glad your dad was ok! My life seems full of appts and being at home. We have had good luck with some appts by telehealth. Luckily our weather has been good with getting some needed rain and not too hot. I hope to do more yard work this week with the not hot days ahead.

Thank you Anne. It was a weird scary freak thing! We live a similar life these days lol. We have had some nice days as well! We had one really hot day and Wyatt and I decided to for a walk. When we came home we both took a nap!

So glad all your dad’s tests came back good, that would be an awful scare! I have not heard of Holland, how was it? Have a great week!

Thanks Cindy! It was really scary! I am glad they gave him CT scan before sending him home.
We are watching it tonight. Hopefully it is good!

Your poor dad!!! Glad he’s ok! No concussion or anything? Did he keep the baseball?

No, no concussion! My stepmom said sometimes it pays to be hardheaded. LOL. And he did not! I feel like he should have too.

So sorry to hear about your Dad — that is scary! I hope he is recovering well. What a relief he is all right.
I think I’m interested in checking out The Essex Serpent series and the Holland movie too. Funny about the accent. Thx for these.

He is doing well, thank you. It was definitely a scary weird thing!
I have only watched one episode of The Essex Serpent but I think I am going to really like it.

What a weird thing to happen! But, I’m glad your dad is OK. I love Riley Sager, too. I finally finished the Judi Dench/Shakespeare book. I’m actually really glad I stuck with it because she’s just so…Judi! I decided to read Bud, Not Buddy again. I don’t know how many times this will make, but I do love the book. We are finishing up The White Lotus, season 3. It’s such an odd show, but it really does hook you in.
Have a wonderful week, Erin!

I know, such a weird freak thing! He is actually the the second person I know that this has happened to! My friend Kelly was at a Detroit Tigers game when she was a kid and got knocked out! And she didn’t even get to keep the ball that knocked her out.
Riley Sager is such a wild ride. I also get so immersed in the book that things like laundry get forgotten… lol. Aw I love that you read Bud, Not Buddy again!!! I am looking forward to reading it with Wyatt next year. Right now I am totally freaking out about next year. I don’t even know when we will be able to start school. I am trying to tell myself that this is one reason we homeschool, so that school can work around his health things, and it will turn out ok, blah blah all those things. But I am still a big mess inside!
I saw on Lisa’s post that Mike is having his surgery this week. Good luck my friend, and I hope you are able to get a little rest in there as well.

Thanks, Erin. I keep telling myself it’s going to go well, and he will be able to walk so much better when it’s done. I give him the same pep talks (though he doesn’t know I have to give them to myself) every day. I think he’s dreading this one even more because he knows what it entails.
I think you start school when you feel both of you are ready. You can always count reading to him and questioning him about what you’ve read as reading comprehension…just saying! And, maybe, you can get the doctor to give you something that would count as science. I mean, this surgery is definitely the result of science, right? I know you will do an amazing job with school whenever it starts. Know that you are all in my prayers.

I thought playing baseball would be where you got injured, not watching it!
I really enjoyed participating in Springtime in Paris!

I really wanted to like Anywhere You Go! I enjoyed the characters and the writing, but I didn’t like the pacing of the relationships. One was way too fast for me – like instant love, super instant. And then the other was way too slow burn. I needed some nice middle ground.

How scary! I’m glad your dad’s okay but what an experience. I’ve seen that Riley Sager listed as a number of peoples favorite books by him so I’m looking forward to seeing your thoughts on it. Anywhere You Go has such a great cover! I hope you have a great week!

It was crazy! My poor dad!
I did really like it. And it is funny you say that, I was just watching a YouTuber last night who said it was her favorite as well. I had no idea! It was super good, I definitely recommend it!

I have to make sure I have room in between reading his books, because I stop being a functioning adult until I finish the book….. lol.
