Sunday Salon is hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date
Hello everyone! Today is Wyatt’s birthday – he is a big time ten years old today! I am all sorts of emotional over this. We are going to the zoo (even though it is absolutely freezing today!) and then a special meal at a fancy shake place in Detroit.
Read Last Week(s):

These were both really good!
Reading This Week:

It’s Middle Grade March! I don’t usually do reading challenges because I am usually trash at them, with no discipline. This one is pretty simple with five prompts, and I think I can do it! Week one we are supposed to read a book by an author with three names – so I am picking Emily of New Moon! I love this cover btw. These are the prompts, in case anyone is interested!
1. Read a book by an author with 3 names
2. Read a book with flowers on the cover
3. Read a book that is part of a series
4. Read a book that involves travel
5. Read a book written in the 1900s

Watching:
We are watching a few different things! We have been watching Murdoch Mysteries, The Great Pottery Throw Down, and we just started Dickinson. Dickinson is a fun little show, and is just silly and escapist. However, I do feel they get some of the details about Emily’s life correct, like her intimate relationship with her friend Sue, who her brother later marries. It is done in the style of the movie A Knight’s Tale, or Romeo and Juliet with Leonardo DiCaprio and Clare Danes, with modern music, language, sensibilities interspersed. I am a Dickinson fan, so I hope that this show sparks interest and curiosity in young people for poetry and words and Dickinson herself, and maybe they will watch and search out more information or look for her collections of poetry.
And that is it from me today! I hope that whatever you do today, you do something that makes you smile!
Happy Birthday, Wyatt!
I hope you’ll have a great day of celebration.

That cover is what drew me in. I wanted something colorful and whimsical and that felt like warm weather. Lol.
Dickinson is really fun – just as long as you don’t expect anything too serious or historically accurate. Lol

Happy birthday, Wyatt!! Enjoy this special day! I am not good with challenges, either. I’ve only finished six books this year! I love the Great Pottery Throw Down; I wish they’d made lots more seasons. We are watching Legacies which was probably aimed at people decades younger than us!
Have a fabulous time at the zoo and celebrating this special birthday!

I always start out so well meaning, and then sort of slowly back away… lol. You have been super busy! That docent training sounds intense!
There is a new season right now! So they are continuing. Yay!!

I may have to copy you with Emily of New Moon. I had wanted to read that too. Hmmm… I may switch it up. I don’t think I’ll really do the prompts because I am a horrible rebel too as you know.
I am interested in Dickinson. I’ll have to find that too.

Happy birthday Wyatt! A day at the zoo and a meal at a shake place sounds like a fantastic way to celebrate. I’d be pretty happy if I celebrated my birthday that way! I have More Days at the Morisaki Bookshop and now I need to track down the first book! I’ve read the Emily books and don’t love them as much as Anne but you can’t go wrong with Montgomery. Have a great week!

Best birthday wishes to Wyatt! We are big fans of the zoo, many different zoos. I have to say we watched some of the later Murdoch mysteries before we ended our Acorn subscription and we were not fans. We liked the first 3 seasons though.

When we first started watching Murdoch we really didn’t like it so much. It was the pandemic though and we just kept watching because there were a billion seasons and we didn’t have much else to do. We ended up loving it and now we are just invested after about what 18 seasons? Lol. This new season I am not really enjoying as much, I miss all the characters who aren’t in it. 😦
And thank you! We had to change plans because it just didn’t get any warmer. We were at like 25 feels like 14. 😦 But he had a great day anyway!

I love that there are book challenges for children! My children had them in school and my son is still reading, my daughter reads some, and my other son doesn’t read other than gamming info. and stuff that’s not books.

I almost included The Honeywitch in my TBR poll this month, but decided not to at the last minute. I really want to read that one. I am glad you liked it! I didn’t know it was Middle Grade March. I will have to see if I can talk my daughter into recommending a book or two for me from her shelf. Or I’ll pull one off–she has so many I want to read. LOL I hope you have a great week and enjoy your reading!
