It’s a winter wonderland here today! We are covered in snow out there. We spent yesterday hurkle-durkling all day long, just staying inside and being pretty lazy. I did a bunch of lesson planning, though, so I did get some work done. I am excited about some of the new studies Wyatt and I are about to embark upon.

Today is another winter storm warning day, with heavy snow predicted so it will be another stay at home kind of day. They cancelled church, and the Pastor is giving her sermon from her home over Zoom. They cancelled Wyatt’s first bowling day as well – I will have to wait another week to see my little “Thunder Turkey” bowl with his team!

I had a big week last week, but I still managed to read two books, although one was a YA graphic novel so it took like 30 minutes. Lol.

Read Last Week:

The Sad Ghost Club was such a sweet read. It is about feeling alone, like you don’t belong anywhere or with anyone, anxiety, overthinking – and then finding someone, maybe just maybe, you can hang out with. I plan on reading the rest of this series as well. I just really enjoyed it.

Temple of Swoon is super adorable and swoonworthy. It is mostly closed door (is that a thing?) and Rafa and Miri are just so cute. It was was just a really fun read.

I hope to have a few more reviews up this week of books, including these two.

Reading This Week:

This week is cold and snowy but spring is right around the corner (maybe) and I am going to read this book and think about the colors of spring and summer. And fresh honey. I don’t think you guys know this about me, but I am obsessed with honey. I love it. Just call me Winnie!

Watching:

Billy has a cold and so we haven’t wanted to watch anything we have to think too much about, so we started watching Return to Paradise, which is another Death in Paradise spin-off. It was perfect for the week we had last week. Hopefully Billy perks up soon! He is actually doing not too bad, just a little low energy and coughing which is basically the type of ick that has been going around here lately.

We did veg out yesterday and we all watched Jurassic Park as a family. It was the first movie Billy and I ever saw together, all those years ago in 1993. The theater we saw it in isn’t even around anymore!

And that is it from my corner of the world today. Whatever you do today, try to do something that makes you smile! I think I might try to make a snowman with Wyatt this afternoon, and then follow it up with hot chocolate.

That sounds like a lovely weekend; we woke to lots of snow and ice and now I think it’s just rain but it’s a whole lot of yuck out there so I’m hoping to snuggle up and get some reading done. Though I should be working on comprehension questions for Evan’s last chapter in his science book… but I’m just not feeling motivated to do that today!

    1. Erin!!!! I completely see what you mean when you said you won’t start season 2 of Severance until you have a bunch of episodes to watch! I admit when I got it from the library and we started it, we almost popped the DVD out. I mean, Nothing was happening and all those white hallways.

Then the hook. We blew through that in a couple of days and what an ending to the season. Wow. Our libray will probably acquire season 2 but it will be a while before it’s on DVD so…waiting…

Hope Billy gets to feeling better and Wyatt gets to go bowling soon.

      1. LOLOL!! Right!!!! I thought the same thing too, at the beginning. I could not handle all the sterile interiors and it took a few episodes for me to get hooked as well. And then once I was – I was so happy we could binge them. Lol. My friend told me they had to wait two whole years for season 2! I am glad that we don’t have to do that at least. And that ending. Oh my gosh. I was stunned!!

Billy perked up a lot by the end of the day yesterday thank goodness, and hopefully next Sunday is better for bowling!

  2. “Hurkle-durkling” is a new word for me! I’m adding it to my writing group’s list of prompts. And I’m testing it out today to see if it offers something for us to write about. lol

Yes, spring is coming, spring is coming. I thought it would be here this week, but it looks like we are getting more freezing weather. Sigh.

    1. Lol isn’t it the best term? I love it! I actually named our two little clawed frogs hurkle and durkle because they just seem like they hurkle-durkle about. I hope that it was inspirational for your group!

I love winter, but this is the time of year I am ready to move on. I just get so tired of seeing all this gray and white! And wow, I can’t believe you are getting more freezing weather too!

  3. I feel a bit bad complaining about the weather in London, when others are telling about snow storms! Hope it gets warmer soon. Jurassic Park – that brings back memories – has been ages since I watched that. I remember it as good fun.

    1. Definitely proper snow days here! It is freezing and snow is everywhere! We have scouts tonight but by that time the roads will all be safe to drive at least. I hope you got some good reading in yesterday. I was able to read some – not easy when trapped indoors with Wyatt for days. Lol.

  4. All reading counts. I was annoyed that my daughter’s church didn’t cancel, until she was almost there. She leads on the worship team, church is an hour away, it was snowing so hard it took her an hour and a half to get there, and they literally called her as she was about to pull into the parking lot!! I was just praising God she made it home safely, it was so nasty out there!! Our storm blew in a few hours early, fast and hard, so I know it wasn’t quite expected, but still. Glad you all were able to stay in. I hope your hubby is better soon and you and Wyatt stay healthy. Have a great week!

  5. What a nice weekend. I hope you stay warm and healthy. We are warmer today -65 – but will have a couple days around freezing for the HIGH midweek and maybe snow. Then the next week they project all 60s. We were supposed to have a warmer than average winter but it’s been colder. I hope the summer isn’t warmer than average.

  6. Making a snow man and having hot chocolate sounds like fun!

I hope Billy feels better soon.

And you like honey? Huh…. I don’t remember you ever saying that before. Sooo wierd.

    Heh. Heh.

I’m ready for spring books too, as you know. I wanted winter but now I want it to end.

We have light snow here — but it sounds like you’re getting a real wonderland of snow there. Sorry Wyatt is missing his bowling. Would like to hear about the Thunder Turkey’s first outing … Enjoy your week.

Your weekend sounds so nice and comfy. I haven’t heard hurkle durkle for so long! I chuckled when I read it. I’m glad Billy is on the mend. Those coughs are such a pain. We got lots of rain Friday night which quickly turned to sleet and then to snow. So, we’ve got ice under the snow. I did go out and shovel out the drive on Saturday. I needed to be outside, and that kept me quite warm. We finally finished “Younger” with a huge binge on Sunday…snuggled up under the electric blanket. We started watching “Nosferatu,” but it didn’t look that good to me. So, guess what we started? “Severance!” We’re only one episode in, and I’m already wondering what the heck! I hope your Thunder Turkey gets to bowl later this week!

    1. Lolol we just learned that word a few months ago and love it! We named our frogs Hurkle and Durkle. Yes, I am so glad he is pretty much back to normal now too. Coughs do stick around and it is such a pain.

Ugh that sounds awful!! Do you have a snowblower or anything to help? That snow must be so heavy! I shoveled too – and I questioned for one second why I wanted the wheelchair ramp in the back of the house since now I had to shovel a ton of snow. But yes, I am still happy with that choice for Wyatt. Even with all that snow!

Snuggling under a warm blanket watching tv on a cold, snowy weekend is the epitome of cozy for me. Lol. And yay!! I am so glad you are watching Severance. Stick with it! And thank you Marsha!

  9. Hurkle durkling is a great word! I do a lot of that 🙂 My friend has a bumper sticker on her car that says “Lollygagging.” Or wait, maybe it’s “Piddlin'”? Either way, I do a lot of those too.

I got my husband Lego Jurassic Park for his Xbox for Christmas and we just started playing it together last week. It’s a lot of fun! Lego Ian Malcolm is something else. He has chest hair!

I hope Billy feels better soon and the Thunder Turkeys get to play this week!

    1. We are big hurkle-durkle fans over here too! Lol. And lollygaggers and piddlers. And faff abouters.

Lolol that is hysterical that Lego Ian Malcolm has chest hair!! That character is still one of my favorites of all time in a movie.

Thanks Jen! Billy is definitely much better. Just a little bit of a cough at night.
