It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well! We have had some pretty good days over here lately. I was hoping to go to the Zoo lights tonight but the weather is rainy and cold – I am hoping it stops before evening so we can go!

Read Last Week:

I just finished The Teller of Small Fortunes and it was just so warm and cozy. I love a found family trope, which this book had, and the whole vibe is just feel good. I will definitely be looking for more books by Leong in the future.

Reading This Week:

This week I am reading The Vanishing of Aveline Jones and hopefully A Christmas Journey by Anne Perry.

Posted Last Week:

Christmas Coffee Catch Up

Top Ten Tuesday: Books for a (Snow) Storm

Watching:

We are watching The Great British Bake Off, and also we are starting to watch all of our favorite Christmas movies! Last night we watched a new one though, The Red One starring Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans and, it was actually pretty good! Sometimes you just need an action movie and this one was really fun. We also watched Christmas Eve on Sesame Street, and I cried a few times out of nostalgia and remembering watching it with my parents when I was little. Tonight we are going for another nostalgic movie, A Charlie Brown Christmas. I am hoping for some snow before we watch A Muppet Christmas Carol, Emmett Otter’s Jug Band Christmas, and Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas, but you never know! It could be a green Christmas this year.

Speakng of Christmas, Lisa from Boondock Ramblings and I have our linky up for Comfy Cozy Christmas! You can find it at the top always, but this is the link! Feel free to post any seasonal fun! We are trying to keep up with commenting on everyone’s posts but y’all are having so much fun and have so many ideas that we are a bit behind! So we apologize if we haven’t gotten to you yet.

And that is it from here today! I hope you are all well, and that no matter what you do today, that you do one thing that makes you smile!

  1. The Muppets will be on TV here next week and I have the Charlie Brown Christmas on DVD and waiting. Today I listened to the soundtrack on YouTube, I’m such a fan of the Vince Guaraldi music!

We are still on “The Dark Is Rising”, but I think I will be sneaking in that favorite Christmas story I mentioned in my last blog post for myself when the “kids” are out 😉

Nothing like something nostalgic Christmas mood!

  2. I keep trying to squeeze Christmas books in and it’s just not going to happen. Sigh. I guess I can read a couple before New Year’s too. Or I can become Orthodox and stretch Christmas into the first week in January! That sounds like a good idea. More time to be cozy and comfy!

My favorite Christmas movie is “Heat Miser.” It’s hard to find, but there’s just something about it that makes me smile. I do like lots of others, but this one is my favorite. I miss having little people around to really get the joy of Christmas in place. Thanks for sharing your week with us.

I was wondering if The Red One was worth watching. I love action movies and it does sound fun! A Charlie Brown Christmas is such a classic. Love anything Charlie Brown! Have a wonderful week, Erin!

  5. I love this time of year because it seems that everyone is more likely to want to gather to watch movies together. Last night we watched Elf for the 10th time, at least. Earlier in the week we watched a few Hallmark-type Christmas movies. Not that they are good in terms of acting or writing but they are feel good movies, for sure.

  6. I love Dwayne Johnson but we haven’t watched Red One yet. Christmas just seems to be sneaking up on me after that late Thanksgiving! Maybe we can get to it this weekend.

I love found families too so I’m adding The Teller of Small Fortunes to my list. Enjoy this week’s Christmas festivities!

I enjoyed the Great British Bake Off and I’m now getting a kick out of the holiday specials!

We seem destined for a green Christmas this year. Actually, it’s mostly brown and gray out my window, but I put up greenery and lights to brighten things up. We’ll consider it a fair trade if it means the roads are safe for driving.

  8. It sounds like you’ve had a fabulous reading week! I went and put a hold on The Teller of Small Fortunes. If my library had any of the The Aveline Jones series, I would probably give it a try too.
    Happy reading over the holidays!

  9. I hope you were able to go to Zoo lights! The Teller of Small Fortunes is on my TBR – partly for the cover. I haven’t really been doing much Christmas reading or watching but I’m hoping to change that a bit this week and especially the weekend. I’ve still got a little bit of time. I hope you’re having a great week!

    1. We made it on Tuesday – Sunday it just kept raining and raining! I have not read any Christmas books! I am not sure what is happening this year. Lol. I did read Aveline Jones and that was a winter solstice bookish but that was as close as I got!

The Teller of Small Fortunes is such a heartwarming cozy book!

I hope you are too Katherine, and Merry Christmas to all of you!!
