It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

Hello everyone! I hope you had a great week and weekend! We had a wonderful holiday, and an awesome week of art and reading and baking leading up to Thanksgiving. Saturday we decorated for Christmas, so we are all decked out now and ready.

Read Last Week:

I loved this book! It was just so easy breezy, wholesome, happy, low stakes. It was the perfect book for a week of hygge.

Reading This Week:

Let the light holiday reads commence! It has been cold and snowy and I am excited to begin some fun wintry reads.

Posted last Week:

It’s a “Puzzling” Gift Guide

Our Week of Hygge

Watching:

We just finished up The Spiderwick Chronicles which we really enjoyed. I am ready to move on tonight to something else though. Something a bit more comfy and cozy – it is after the season for comfy and cozy. Maybe the Bake Off?

We did watch the 1982 version of Annie on Friday night, and I loved it just as much as I did the first time I watched in the Wyandotte theater with my mom when I was 6 years old. I realized that was probably my very first Tim Curry movie! Also, the grandpa from Gilmore Girls is in it – he plays FDR. Billy and I would occasionally sing along; you just can’t help it! I have all the happy feelings just thinking about it.

And today, since it is December 1st, is the day that Lisa from Boondock Ramblings and I launch our linkup for Comfy Cozy Christmas  but it doesn’t have to be just Christmas, just seasonal from any walk of life, culture, or faith that happens between now and January 7th is welcome. It will have a permanent page on my blog – look for it up top!

  1. Yay for a cozy week. I got a little tree this year. My daughter loves to decorate but I haven’t gotten the boxes of ornaments out for her yet. She does make her own ornaments and those are on a tiny fake tree she got as a gift one year.

    1. It was so nice to have a week of just really nothing! Lol. I had some stuff with Thanksgiving but since we had such a low key week it didn’t feel rushed or busy. I think I needed it as we head into December!

Wyatt has a little tree in his room where we put all the ornaments we make together! I love it so much, his little tree of Wyatt ornaments.

  2. I will try to remember to link up to your Cozy Comfy Christmas with my post this week about Advent Christmas picture books. Thank you for hosting this. It will be fun to see what other comfy, cozy things people are doing.

I’m glad you had a great hygge week, Erin!

    1. Oo I am curious about those books myself! I am reading All Creation Waits at night to Wyatt and Billy but a book about the Advent for kids might be better for Wyatt. And yay! I just love seeing what others are doing too, and having it all in one place.

    1. It was very nice! We had such a great time together.

Actually Billy and I were talking as we put the tree up about the pets who are now gone, who used to mess with our tree, and the things we would do to prevent them from being hurt or knocking it down. Lol. We had a dog named Penny, who after two weeks of us having her, ate fake Christmas tree garland that had metal in it, and required emergency surgery. When we adopted her from the shelter she was extremely underweight and had been on the run for a while so she had a slew of issues for a while but she was my baby, but for years at Christmas we did not put up a tree. Once year Billy made a paper tree that hung on the wall. Lol. And we just lost two of our cats in September and October of 2022 – they both loved cozying up under the tree in the tree blanket. Our senior cat that we have (we had three we adopted kind of all together years ago) leaves the tree alone. And phew I wrote a novel about my pets. Sorry about that! Your comment just was so similar to our conversation.

      1. No worries, I love to hear about other people’s pets!
In fact, early this morning – if 3.15 a.m. counts as morning – der Dekan got a big surprise when Gundel started working on the tree while he was sleeping in my arm and managed to make the tree fall! I always call her my good child, but it seems she has learned a bit too much from Mr. Brat! 😉

Oh, we are behind on the Bake Off. Instead, we’ve been watching Is It Cake? I’d enjoy it so much more with a different host. Today, I had to get up extra early to ring handbells at church. So, after I’d accomplished what I needed to do, Mike and I crawled into the bed with the electric blanket, the adjustable bed, and took naps! Mine lasted longer than his! It was heavenly! I started reading an anthology of Edgar Allen Poe’s works…a little late for the season, right? I’m picking and choosing rather than reading the whole thing.

    Have a fantastic week, Erin!

    1. We ended up watching Harry Potter last night so I think we might start the Bake Off tonight. And ugh, the hosts really do matter on those shows!

Was it super cold where you live? Good for you for getting up and going and doing it! I have been watching our services online streaming. Lol. I am going to try to go back next week. And I don’t blame you, that sounds like a wonderful nap, all warm and snuggly!

Well, they used to read ghost stories at Christmas, so maybe you are actually on time? Lol.

      You too Marsha!

  4. I just added that book club book to my Kindle. It looks good! I need to stop adding books, though. I’m getting overwhelmed again. It’s supposed to be a relaxing season, not an overwhelming one! ha! Luckily I have all winter to be cozy during.

  5. The Book Club Hotel was such a fun cozy read! I want to reread it. We have our trees up and our outside lights up but nothing else. I’m not sure what all I’m going to put up this year. I’m really trying to not overextend myself this year as I tend to do that every holiday season and end up exhausted and cranky. I’ve also been buying books like crazy which I figure is the antidote to most things! I hope you’re having a great week!
