Hello everyone! I hope you are doing well, and that if you celebrate Thanksgiving, you have a good one, no matter what you do.
I haven’t been reading much lately. I don’t know what is going on, but I am in a bit of a slump which stinks because I have so many new books and I love them and I am excited to read them all. I just can’t sit still these days. Maybe after the holiday I will settle down.
I did read one book, just a little one.

I wasn’t sure how I was going to like this one. I am not really a sci-fi person, but if there was a book that was cozy sci-fi, it is this one. I found myself imagining the roads that Sibling Dex and Mosscap were taking, the slow days, the conversations and the tea, and I just fell in love with this book. It was different, it was thought-provoking, it was gentle, and it made me smile.
A few short quotes from a book that I saved so many from:
“No matter what I’m wonderful.”
“We don’t have to fall into the same category to be of equal value.”
This slim book is so filled with goodness. Even if this is not usually your jam, I say give it a whirl.
Reading This Week:

I picked this up over the weekend and immediately fell in love with it. Maybe my slump is over? Wyatt and I are having a whole week of hygge this week – no real school, just reading and art and baking, and this book seemed perfect for those curl up and read moments ahead.

Coffee Catch Up: Birthday Books!
Watching:
We are all finished with Comfy Cozy Cinema and it feels weird to not have a Sunday movie all ready to go. Besides that, we are watching The Spiderwick Chronicles that star none other than my teenage celebrity crush, Christian Slater. I loved him so much as a teen. Lol. I can still probably quote Heathers and Pump Up the Volume. And, I have to say, as an adult maybe I still have a bit of a crush on adult him.
And that is it from around here! I hope you are all well!
Your books both sound good and I like the quotes you shared. I liked Christian Slater in Heathers and Interview. Happy Thanksgiving!

I just read that he donated all the money he made from Interview to River Phoenix’s favorite charities in his memory.
Thanks!

Sometimes I get a reading slump, it will take just the right book for the right time to jump start me. There is so much going on right now in the news, with Thanksgiving….

I think that is part of it, I am distracted. Or was part of it. I think I am over my slump! Yay!

I don’t worry too much about reading slumps. They turn around eventually.
I’m not a Christian Slater fan but I do understand his appeal for others. I hope you figure out what to watch this afternoon.

I think I am over it! Thank goodness. Lol.
We ended up watching the movie The Wild Robot. I have read that book twice with my son and the movie was different but just as good. I definitely shed lots of tears.

There is so much to watch on Netflix that I have to limit myself. My current craze are Jdramas, Kdramas, and others, endless supplies it seems. I did enjoy Nicole Kidman’s latest, The Perfect Couple.

I know sometimes we have to limit ourselves too! Lol. We ended up watching The Wild Robot, which was so beautiful.

Right? I am pretty excited about it, and Wyatt definitely is. He already woke up this morning talking about painting. I was like let me have my coffee first bud. Lol.

I said the same thing about not having a movie to watch for Comfy, Cozy Cinema this week. It feels weird! I’ll have to figure out something else to watch I suppose.
Looking forward to a Hygge week too, thanks to your mentioning you were doing one!

Maybe novellas are good for you at this point. I’ve also enjoyed this one by Chambers and want to read more by her.

That one seemed to snap me out of my slump. I have never read anything by that author before and was hesitant but I really ended up enjoying it.

You’ve got me curious about A Psalm for the Wild Built. I don’t really read sci-fi either, but the idea of cozy sci-fi is appealing. Happy Thanksgiving!

It was really good. It is short too, so I think that helped. The world building was sort of minimal, and I have to admit I was sort of confused about some of it. There just wasn’t a lot of detail, but I think that is also why I liked it, it wasn’t overly sci-fi, if that makes sense. It focused very narrowly on two characters and it was very well-done.
Thanks, you too!

I read a Psalm for the Wild Built a few years ago and my reaction was pretty *meh. I am not such of a Sci-Fi reader either so I probably missed something.

It was definitely different. I at first didn’t like it too much, but once I got past the first 20 pages I began to really like it. It took a minute though.

Yeah I didn’t finish a book this week – so perhaps I’m in a reading slump as well … but I’m midway into one, so this week will be better! Good luck with your reading & Happy Thanksgiving.

A hygge week sounds like a good week to me! I’m looking forward to one of those someday! I’m so contrary, though. I like to stay home with nothing to do, but then I’m bored with staying home with nothing to do. This week will be a busy one…Mike’s p/t appointments, getting ready for Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, then Black Friday shopping.
I’m still in my reading slump and am only halfway through the Emily Henry book it seems I’ve been reading forever. We have been watching The Fall of the House of Usher which makes me want to reread Poe’s short stories. I think I have a book of them here.
Have a wonderful hygge week!

Lol!! I love being home and working on all of our projects. We always have a bunch of different things going on at home. But I do definitely like to go out and do things as well. That is definitely a busy week! I do my black friday shopping online. Billy is our big Black Friday shopper. He used to go with my SIL and her mom every year while my brother and I would go to breakfast. Lol.
Ugh when that happens to me I have to pick up another book. Otherwise I begin to look at reading as a job. And thank you for reminding me about that show! I wanted to watch it and forgot about it!
Thank you Marsha, and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
