My Sunday- Monday Post

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is doing well today! I am tired this morning but doing pretty good otherwise. It’s a morning I am grateful for coffee that is for sure.

This is a short post from me today!

Read Last Week:

I loved both of these books! The Haunting of Aveline Jones was a fun Middle Grade, that was actually pretty spooky. It was extremely atmospheric and young Aveline reminds me of a young me. Lol. A Dark and Secret Magic was such a good read as well. I think it is the perfect Halloween read, with lots of autumn goodness tucked in as well as witches and ghosts and a big bad villain, and a romantic hero. Yep, I loved it.

Reading This Week:

This week I am settling in with an old comfort read of mine, Witch by Barbara Michaels, and a new to me author, Bee Littlefield. I won a giveaway on Instagram for this book from Bee, and it came with some cute stickers, tea, a journal, and coffee as well! I am looking forward to both of these reads this week.

Comfy Cozy Cinema: Dial M for Murder

Friday Morning Coffee Catch Up

Watching:

Nothing too different or exciting here, other than our movies for Comfy Cozy Cinema that I am doing with Lisa at Boondock Ramblings. We watched Dial M for Murder last week which was amazing, and this week we are watching Practical Magic. The post goes up Thursday! If you are watching or following along and posting, this week is wild card week – so free choice of movie, or you can watch Practical Magic as well! I wanted to add too, that our last movie is Chocolat, and we will be doing a “watch party” – basically we will all hit play at the same time, and chat on discord. (so you don’t have to worry about being on video in your jammies!)

Billy and I have also been watching What We Do In the Shadows which cracks us up, as well as The Great Pottery Throw Down. Now I am trying to convince Billy to build a kiln in the backyard. Who will win? Lol.

  1. I’m drinking my first coffee of the day right now, trying not to be bitter about the fact I forgot to include half n half in my grocery order yesterday so I’m stuck with powdered creamer. I know I should be grateful I have anything at all to put in my coffee…imagine if I had to drink it black!!!! I’d probably cry. Or have coffee delivered, which would be expensive and it had never even occurred to me until I saw someone’s TikTok where they had all the stuff in the house to MAKE coffee but were too tired to do so and had Dunkin delivered instead. Trying to decide if I’m that bougie or not… 😀

  2. I love those fantastic covers on The Haunting of Aveline Jones and A Dark and Secret Magic. I’m glad to see how much you enjoyed both of them.

It sounds fun to do a watch party. This week I think I’m going with the wild card as my aunt is coming to stay with us and she loves science fiction. I’m going to try to talk her into watching some of the 1950s stuff that is as silly as it is scary.

    1. They were both so good!!

It would be awesome if you joined our watch party! It will be our very first one so … it might be a little wonky but fun. Learning curves and all. I think that is a fab idea!!! I am looking forward to reading your post! (probably Friday, I think tomorrow will be wild)

Once upon a time, I tried to convince Mike to let me have a kiln. Then, I talked to our art teacher who did have one at home. She said the electric bill when she ran it was sky high! But, I’d still love to have one. There is a small pottery studio not far from me. I really should go over there and take classes. But, then, what do you do with the stuff you make? I can’t give it to my kids…they all took ceramics in high school, and my curio cabinet is full of their stuff (which they gave to me as Christmas gifts).

I finished RuPaul’s Global All Stars, and, for once, my queen won! I actually gasped out loud. Now, it’s back to Halloween Baking Championship which is winding up. Which means it will be time for the Holiday Baking Championship! I love this time of year!

    1. My MIL who is a potter has a real kiln that I could use if I wanted. But! I want something cool and neat for my yard. I was looking up different versions and I feel like I am winning. Once he finishes up a project or two, I think we will get started. Although he had better hurry before it snows!

I have no idea what I would do with it all? I feel like I would make mugs like crazy. Just a million mugs over here. Maybe I would make a little free mug library out front – ooh or combine a little free book library with a mug library! I like this idea….

Yay!! I am so glad your pick won!! I love all the baking shows too!

I remember borrowing Barbara Michaels books from my small-town library back in the 1970s, but I can’t remember if Witch was one of them. Sounds perfect for Halloween week.

Those are cute Halloween books. Love the covers. I’m curious : do you watch your movies on DVD or stream them? I will see if I can find Practical Magic — I have not seen it. Happy Halloween.
