Hello everyone! Last week was so fun! We took a little mini-trip to Cleveland/Cuyahoga Valley National Park and we had a blast! I can’t wait to tell you about it all this week! As I suspected, I didn’t read – like at all. Except for maybe 10 pages before breakfast yesterday. I plan on making up for it this week though!

Read Last Week:

This book was lovely. It is so full of life, the good and the bad, the sad and the happy, and I really felt like I was living in this little community, sharing in their lives.

Reading This Week:

So, my post looks the same as last week. I did start Berries and Bones, and wow is it heavy on the cozy right away. This old bear has a pretty good setup! I am looking forward to reading more of it today.

Listening:

Last week, I wasn’t sure I liked this story. This week, I am here to tell you that I am really enjoying it! I am glad that I stuck with it. It is so cute and very fall vibes.

Comfy Cozy Cinema: Kiki’s Delivery Service

Watching:

We are still watching The Pottery Throw Down. I admit, I am addicted. I am learning so much though from it! We went to the Cleveland Art Museum yesterday and as we wandered through, reading about some of the items that were ceramic or china or what have you, I understood the process that went into making them. It was amazing to see pots made in the 700s, and realize that the same processes (more or less) created them. The same shapes still exist. Billy and I were marveling at all the pieces with our newfound knowledge.

We of course are watching our Comfy Cozy Cinema movies that we are watching with Lisa at Boondock Ramblings, and Deb from Readerbuzz is also participating with us! Yay! Last week we watched and posted about Kiki’s Delivery Service; this week we are watching the 1945 version of Blithe Spirit and will post about it Thursday! We are also having a giveaway – you can enter here if you are interested!

  1. I had not heard of the creator of Kiki’s Delivery Service, but apparently I am the only one who has not—as I learned when I posted about the movie. Now I have a whole list of these movies that I plan to seek out. Thank you, Erin!

    I’m glad you had such a fabulous trip. And I’m glad you are enjoying Pumpkin Spice Cafe. I’ve added it to my wishlist.

    1. I was behind on Studio Ghibli too. Billy started me on them during the pandemic and I was hooked. I needed them during that time! I am so glad that you enjoyed it!! There are a few I didn’t like as much (cough*Nausicca*cough) but I have liked most of them.

      We did have such a nice time. It was quick but fun. I am still not certain about the “spice” level of of PSC but it is pretty cute so far.

  2. I’m looking forward to your post about the trip. Looking at the various pieces of ceramic at the art musuem must have been fun. Oh, I always pack a book on vacation with good intentions and rarely read. Still, always carry a book!

    That trip already looks wonderful! I can’t wait to hear more about it. I spent most of the afternoon yesterday trying to find a fall baking championship of some sort that my middle son was telling me about because his current culinary teacher was a contestant and finalist on the show… but I’m going to have to wait until he comes home this weekend to find it for me since I just can’t.

    Since you and others mentioned Pumpkin Spice Cafe, I took advantage of an opportunity to check it out on Hoopla. I got a good start but then my hold came through on Libby for By Another Name by Jodi Picoult, so all the cozy warmth of the cafe is on hold for a bit.

    1. Wow that is so cool!!! I feel like I am learning by watching but I really want my MIL who is a potter to teach me. She has a kiln and everything. Billy and I also think we want to try to “pit fire” ceramics this fall but I am a little nervous, because you know, fire. Lol.

    Was this your train trip, Erin? I haven’t been to that art museum (but I’ve been to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame). I love the Pottery Throw Down. There was a time when I was thinking about writing a grant to get a kiln because I loved throwing on the wheel. I wonder if I could even do it now. I certainly couldn’t create anything they do on the show, though. I really think you should get your MIL to teach you…and, she has a kiln! I do think the “pit fire” looks super cool and a little dangerous!

    1. This was our trip to ride the train. Lol. I was looking for a train ride that would be longer than ten minutes but less than the amount of time it would take us to ride the train to Chicago, and I found the train at the Cuyahoga National Park. It was a two hour train ride through the park so it was perfect!

      Billy and I have been to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame too! That was really my only other trip to Cleveland and we went just for that and came home. It is a 2.5 hour drive from our house so it can be done in a day – a long day, but doable.

      You should do it!! My MIL found her kiln through marketplace I think. The pit fire would be fun to try but I would probably also have a panic attack that we would burn the whole neighborhood down. Lol.

  13. I always love reading about your week and learning about all the cool stuff you do! You never fail to impress me with your dedication to homeschooling and finding the joy in daily life. I keep seeing The Pumpkin Spice Cafe on people’s lists, and I think I might just have to read it after hearing that you are loving it.

    1. Thank you Leah!! I really love homeschooling my son and I am glad that it shows. 🙂 And thank you, it is hard some days to find that joy but I think it is so important to try, even on the hard days.

      So far, the PSC is adorable. I can’t attest to the “spice” level yet but I have a feeling I will find out soon. Lol. It is definitely a lighthearted, easy read, and sometimes those are a nice break.

  14. That train looks excellent! I do like a train. I’m also about to be panic-reading NetGalley Christmas books – I have a Plan which is to review them on NG right away then create posts for them for early December on my blog, as it feels too weird to write about them this early! I mean it will still be weird to read them but I requested the things …!
