My Sunday/Monday Post!

My Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

Hello everyone! I missed last Sundays posting because we took Wyatt to a Detroit Tigers baseball game – and he even got to meet one of the players! It was a very fun Sunday! Then Wyatt and I both came down with a cold and were feeling pretty gross most of the week, so we did a lot of laying around and resting. I think we needed it, we were pretty run down from the whirlwind of activity we have been swept up in.

Read Last Week and the Week Before:

Haunt Sweet Home was a short little read, and not scary at all. It was more of a..coming of age story, I guess in a way, and it sort of made me sad. Haunted Ever After was a fun, easy read and it was perfect for this past week. And The Full Moon Coffee Shop was a bit weird honestly. I liked it, but it wasn’t my favorite.

Reading This Week:

This week I need to catch up on things I let slide last week, but as I am still sort of gross, I am taking things slowly. I think this book will be perfect for the week I am hoping for! Just something easy.

Comfy Cozy Cinema: Somewhere in Time

Watching:

Well, Billy and I have been pretty obsessively watching The Great Pottery Throw Down. I knew I would probably really love this one the best. I love all things pottery and my MIL is a potter as well, so I am pretty familiar with the process. I love seeing what everyone designs, and I love when the judge and British Potter Keith Brymer Smith cries. He just gets so overwhelmed with the beauty of the art that he can’t help it. I saw that there is a book about him, called Boy in a China Shop that I may have to read.

We also are watching our Comfy Cozy Cinema movies every Sunday! Comfy Cozy Cinema is something that Lisa and I started last year. We share a bunch of movie ideas to watch “together” and then post about them on Thursday mornings. This week’s movie is Ladies in Lavender starring Judi Dench and Maggie Smith, if you want to join us in watching! We are thinking of having a watch party soon with whoever wants to join in as well – maybe in October or November. And we will be announcing our Comfy Cozy Care Package giveaway soon as well, so stayed tuned for that!

And that is it from me this morning! I hope you all have had a happy and safe weekend.

  1. Sorry you and Wyatt didn’t feel well! I hope you are both better now. So many people I know are feeling bad and some have tested positive for COVID.

I used to have a pottery wheel, oven etc. I sold it all a few years ago.

When my brother and I were young my brother in law would take us along with his kids to the Cincinnati Red games every ball season. We loved going because all the team members would come to the gate that was around the field to talk to us. Well, everyone except for Johnny Bench. Guess he wasn’t thankful for his fans.

    1. Yeah there is a lot going around! I did test and tested negative so that made me feel a bit better. Lol. We are definitely on the upswing.

Oh how cool!!! My MIL has all of that too, the kiln, the wheel – I would love for her to teach me one day.

And that is so fun!! I love that the players were so happy to see their fans like that. Except for Johnny Bench. Weird that he didn’t!

  2. I’m so glad you got to enjoy the baseball game before your colds hit. Hope you are feeling great again soon.

My friend who loves Somewhere in Time and I are hoping to get a chance to watch it one afternoon this week. Maybe we will have a double-feature and watch Ladies in Lavender, too!

    1. I need to have some balance in my books I have learned. I can’t read too much of one thing or it really affects me, especially when they are heavy or serious. Never binge read Joyce Carol Oates! LOL. I am enjoying my fun spooky this season! Last year I went a little heavy – this year I think I just have one real horror book on my list, the rest are all more fun.

  3. We started watching the Great Pottery Throwdown but it turned out I got upset when he threw away people’s pots that were no good! I want to read his autobiography, too, a very interesting chap, and it’s fine to well up in tears about beauty, isn’t it!

Having some gross times myself as husband brought Covid back from his work meeting in Oregon, he had it all week and I came down with it on Friday.

  4. My husband and I binged all the available seasons of Great Pottery Throwdown last fall (what was available on Max), and it was SO good! I’m hoping they’ll have added more when we re-subscribe to catch up on House of the Dragon, lol

Not quite as cozy as the British shows, but still in that artsy vein: I’ve just finished watching Blown Away on Netflix, and the glassblowing/glass-making that takes place over the 4 seasons of competition is awe-inspiring.

I do hope you’re feeling better soon. I had something for quite a few weeks…I think it was allergies. I loved The Great Pottery Throwdown and wanted it to keep going. I think it may be my favorite of the British making something shows. I especially loved when they had to make a toilet! I hope your week is pretty doggone fabulous!

    1. We are finally feeling all better! We caught some sort of crud. We were congested for a few days, and I hated it. Lol. I tested negative for Covid so I am assuming it was just a viral thing.

Ok, so I love the darn throwdown so much. I think it might be my favorite as well. (and I love that category you have assigned to it) That toilet was crazy!!! Would you have used the turtle one? I think it would weird me out! Although it was quite lovely, especially for a toilet.

  6. I’m so glad you enjoyed Haunted Ever After. It was a fun read and perfect for stressful times. For cozy TV watching go to the Who Do You Think You Are channel on YouTube and watch the UK episodes. Judi Dench’s is probably my favorite but there are so many good ones. Charles Dance was a close second though! I think you might enjoy them.
