My Sunday-Monday Post

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

Hello everyone! Last week was a bit nutty at first, but ended very well. We had a very slow start to school, and I am not even calling it our first week. It was more like a practice run, although we did do a little bit of school work.

Read Last Week:

I felt like these two were the perfect transition books from summer to fall and spooky season. I really loved Every Time I Go on Vacation Someone Dies. I thought the narrator was so chatty and fun, and I just really enjoyed it. Haunting License sort of dragged for me a bit, but it was still cute.

Reading This Week:

I am going to start both of these, and we will see if I finish them both. I am thinking, probably not, but here’s hoping!

Posted Last Week:

Hello September!

Top Ten Tuesday – Books About Food (but not Cookbooks)

Book Reviews – A Few Mini Book Reviews

Comfy Cozy Cinema – What We Did on Our Holiday

Friday Morning Coffee Catch Up

Watching and Listening:

We have been watching the American Ghosts tv show, as well as The Great British Pottery Throw Down. We of course also watched our movie for Comfy Cozy Cinema, What We Did on Our Holiday. Tonight we are watching this week’s movie, The Great Exotic Marigold Hotel. I am looking forward to it!

As for YouTubers, Wyatt and I have been watching Liv of Liv’s Library, and Forgotten Way Farms, who is back from a few month hiatus. We also watched Desi of Darling Desi and Dainty Diaries, who had some very sad news to share. Tonight we will watch Morgan Long’s newest. Or maybe Randi Lynn Reed. It will be a tough call! Wyatt calls all these YouTubers our book ladies, and he is not wrong.

Listening wise, we are never too adventurous anymore. We have our favorites and sort of stick with them, which is why I don’t mention music too often here. Lord Huron, The National Parks are usually playing in the background if we have music on., unless we are in the car, where we listen to country. Lol. I did make an Autumn Playlist, and we have been listening to that too.

And that is about it from around here! How are you all doing?

  1. I’ve requested The Great Exotic Marigold Hotel from the library, and I hope I can join in this week if it arrives in time. Comfy and cozy sounds wonderful.

I’m on the lookout for a good science fiction or fantasy novel or series. I wonder if Starling House might be one to try.

      1. Lol! Ok that is right, I remember you saying that now! The Starling House seems like it is going to trend a bit spooky. Have you read The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches? That is pretty cozy. A Fellowship of Bakers and Magic is on my radar and that looks pretty cute too.

That first book reminds me of Murder She Wrote…why would you hang around someone where murders occur!! But it does sound interesting. I’ll add it to my list. We just finished Dead Boy Detectives, and I liked it enough to hope there’s a second season. We just began The Perfect Couple based on a book by Elin Hilderbrand which I read just long enough ago to not remember much about it!

Have a wonderful first week of school, Erin and Wyatt!

  3. The Great Exotic Marigold Hotel was fun. Hmmm never thought about sharing the youtubers I listen to; I might try that. & I do need to get back to sharing music – I had a series where I shared my reaction to new music to push myself not to get stuck in a musical loop and I have – maybe I need to revive that.

  4. That title of Every Time I go on Vacation Someone Dies is catchy and makes me think it is written about Miss Marple. Everywhere she goes, to the consternation of Inspector Slack. At least in the Joan Hickson, old version.

Good to hear you had a nice week and hope you find a nice routine for school.

On my autumn playlist I have JVKE, Lizzy McAlpine, and Camera Obscura. I’d love to hear what’s on yours! I hope you have a nice week and all goes well with school!

  6. I loved the first season of US Ghosts! I had to check it out from the library. They don’t have the second season yet, and I don’t even know if it’s available on DVD yet. Hopefully soon. ‘Tis the season! I love The Grand Exotic Marigold Hotel. Such a fantastic cast.

I realized that I don’t really keep up with music anymore since I’m usually listening to audiobooks or podcasts. When I do try to listen to music, I feel like I always hear the same things over and over on the radio or Spotify. So I listened to an NPR podcast about music! 🙂 They played a clip from one album that I tried and liked. That didn’t seem like much of a payoff for the time investment so we’ll see if I keep it up.

Good luck settling into your school routine!

    1. I love it too! It is just so fun. I liked the British Ghosts too, but the US version is a bit more fun, I think. And oh my gosh – that cast of Marigold Hotel. How could that movie go wrong? It was so good!

I am terrible at keeping up with music! I need to figure out how to change that, but it seems hard. Lol.

      And thank you!

I love the title  Every Time I Go on Vacation Someone Dies. I will have to add that to my wish list! I am glad you liked it. I hope you are enjoying your current reads. I enjoyed Starling House, but I haven’t yet read the other. I hope you have a great week!

  8. I loved the first book in that Carol J. Perry series but don’t feel like the next two books have quite lived up to it. Haunting License was better than book 2 but I agree it dragged a bit. That’s so cute about your Book Ladies! I hope you are having a wonderful week!
