Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl
When I read this weeks prompt, books about food, the first thing that leapt to mind were all the picture books Wyatt and I have read that involve food. I love using meals and foods to teach Wyatt about different cultures and countries and even about different states.
We used these for school and enjoyed tasting different foods based on the books or the country. Now I miss doing this so I think I will try to include more of this sort of thing again this year!

In case you are interested here are the links to France and Italy.
Also these were some fun food books that we just read and enjoyed. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is an old favorite of mine, from my childhood that I loved sharing with Wyatt!

Have you read any of these?
I use to read The Big Hungry Bear book to my daughter

That was a huge favorite of Wyatt’s for a long time.

I think I read the meatballs book ages ago, when I was a kid. I dispute the idea that there is such a thing as too many tamales. Thanks for dropping by!

I would 100% agree with you regarding the tamales! There is no such thing as too many. Lol. Wyatt was not as excited about them but maybe he will grow to love them one day.

I loved that Fry Bread book and Cloudy with A Chance of Meatballs and I’m writing the other ones down. Thank you for sharing.

I don’t think I read it until Jonathan was around 7 or 8. And after the movie..which I hated. lol.

I meant to add, which I hated and Jonathan watched over and over and over and over again.

I’ve read lots of these! We used food to each about different cultures, countries, and states too.
When I saw today’s title though I immediately thought of fun cozy murder mystery series called the Cupcake Bakery series by Jenn McKinlay– the main character runs her own bakery and each book contains several cupcake and frosting recipes.

I did kids’ books, too! I totally forgot about The Big Hungry Bear book. That was one of my kids’ favorites! They especially loved the page where the strawberry wore a disguise.

We read Strega Nona and Too Many Tamales often! Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and some of the others may have been published after my kids were too old for picture books. (Although no one is ever too old for the really good ones!) I’m not familiar with The Big Hungry Bear, even though from the cover it looks like an older one. I’ll have to get it to read with my granddaughter!

It is an older one – for sure get it and read it with her, it is so cute!! All of that author’s books are good, but that one was our favorite.
Strega Nona is so good!

What a great list! I never even heard of most of these books, but I love how you use books to teach Wyatt about other cultures, and then reinforce it with real life tastings. That sounds like a super fun way to learn, and a great way to remember what he’s learning. But most importantly, I bet its really tasty!

Lol it is! We have had some good meals and treats. I particularly liked the whoopie pies that are popular in Maine, and the Italian gelato.
