Hello everyone!! We had a pretty busy week last week with just life stuff and it being summer. I have been working super hard on Wyatt’s big room update and I have finally made it to the last stage – the decorating. Hanging the artwork, the final touches, etc. It should be done pretty darn soon! It’s been so difficult getting rid of some of his picture books though. We just have so many it is insane – I have collected so many over the years from book sales, garage sales, from book stores and holidays, plus I worked in an elementary school library for years before Wyatt was born and bought books from the Scholastic Book Fair and from the used book fair, making a small library before Wyatt was even a thought. We have been giving them away to people though, and putting them in little free libraries whenever we see them though so that makes me feel better about getting rid of them. They are getting a new life now.

Read Last Week:

Getaway with Murder was a pretty fun and light cozy. I loved the setting of the mountains and the lodge. I also enjoyed the little one or two paragraph chapters from Yeti the cat’s point of view. As for The Only One Left, holy cow what a ride!! It was amazing. I could not stop reading it!!

Reading this Week:

I need a bit of cozy this week after The Only One Left, so I am reading Verse and Vengeance from one of my favorite series, the Magical Bookshop series by Amanda Flower. I really can’t wait to relax with this one later.

Top Ten Tuesday – Books That Feel Like Fall

I meant to blog more last week, and to go commenting on everyone’s posts but things got away from me! I hope to be more present here this week.

Watching:

We are still watching The Great British Sewing Bee. It is just as wholesome as you think it is. More so even. The judges on this show are more like teachers and you can sense the connection between them and the contestants. We are loving it and it is the ultimate relax show after a long day.

  5. That is a big project to reorganize and do sorting and throwing. I still have books I got at school for myself. In the old days, we ordered them from a flyer from The Weekly Reader. I find it hard to pare them down. I’ll have to ask my daughter about the British Sewing Bee. I think we would love it.

    Oh, book fairs…I loved them! I spent so much money on my classroom. Then, when the grands came along, I always went with them and spent even more. Picture books are so beautiful. I have kept a select few. The British Sewing Bee is so good! I have finished two seasons, I think. I could never do what they do…I can barely follow a pattern!

    1. Oh we have saved a ton. Lol. We have probably given away 3-4 bags and they are still crammed on his bookshelf and we have boxes and boxes still in his closet and now downstairs. Lol. They all feel so special to me! However, there are some I would never get rid of ever, like you were saying.

  9. I have a whole shelf of picture books on my keeper shelves. (Don’t tell anyone—they will laugh—but picture books are my favorite genre.)

    I can’t wait to see the finished room re-do. (Here’s another secret: I loved the Sandra Boynton animals alphabet wallpaper trim so much in my son Ben’s room that I couldn’t paint over it until he was in high school.)

  12. So exciting you are at the decorating stages and lovely you’ve put books in the Little Free Libraries for people to enjoy. We’ve just finished the semi-final of this year’s Sewing Bee, really can’t remember who was in the first lockdown one. But did I ever tell you I live just down the road from Lauren Guthrie’s (first winner) shop??!! And I’ve met Stuart from that series, too.

    1. We have so much fun doing it and I think it makes it easier for us both to say goodbye to some of his books. Lol.

      Wow that is awesome!!! The first lockdown winner was Serena. I really enjoyed that season. It was interesting to be on this side of the pandemic now and watch something happening during it, if that makes sense. Just brought back all of that, the masks, the distancing, the isolating.

  13. I’m on the waitlist for the audio of that Riley Sager and cannot wait! The Diane Kelly is a fun series. She has another one set in Nashville about cousins who flip houses that is also fun – and there’s a cat in that one as well. Picture books are so hard to get rid of! Will is 14 but I’ve held onto a few that have sentimental value. I hope you’re having a great week!

    1. Oh my gosh it was so good!! I need to step back from Sager for a minute so I can catch up on other things. Lol. I will have to look for the rest of the Diane Kelly books! I liked Getwaway with Murder!

      It is so hard! I have saved boxes and boxes still although we did give out boxes and boxes too. Lol.
