Top Ten Tuesday – Green

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

This weeks prompt is: books with my favorite color on the cover! My favorite color is green. To me, it is a color full of nature, life, yet so calming. The color of leaves and grass and katydids. Emeralds. Moss. Luna moths. Frogs. The patina on old copper. I love all shades of green, from deep forest greens to bright jewel tones to more muted sage and then springlike light greens.

I usually write a little something about the books in these posts, but today is just all about the cover and the color.

So…this post was originally all just cover and color. But Laurie pointed out to me that this made my post inaccessible to her as a screen reader user. So I went through and tried to do alt text. I hope I did it correctly! As the parent of a wheelchair user, I understand how frustrating inaccessibility is.

How do you feel about green?

  1. Green was my youngest son’s favorite color since he was a little boy until a few years ago when he switched to blue. My favorite colors were always purple, yellow, and orange. Now it’s teal.

  2. Each time I see one of Maureen’s books on a list I’m reminded that I haven’t read more in that series beyond book one. Someday I must remedy this. Never read the book, but I do think the I Capture the Castle film is quite funny! 🙂 Thanks so much for visiting my website today.

I love these covers! And as soon as I started reading your description of why you love green so much I had a wonderful cascade of beautiful images run through my mind – it really is such an evocative colour, in all its shades! Excellent choice!

  4. I find green very soothing as a colour and love many shades of it! As a redhead, it’s also very popular in my wardrobe as well as on my bookshelf. From your books here I absolutely adore Half A Soul, I thought it was so charming. I also have Tress of the Emerald Sea out from my library atm although mine has a different cover that is no where near as pretty as this one.

For a long time, green was my grandson’s favorite color. So, we could get him to eat any and everything green! I’m not sure what it is these days.

Those book covers are all lovely. I tend to pick books based on the title, then I look at the cover. If it’s too Harlequin Romance-y, I skip it!

Actually, I am new to liking the color green. I especially love medium to darker shades. For several years, I have loved blue greens like aqua and teal. For me, I believe green shades of color are soothing and comforting.

  7. Great color choice, and a nice selection of books, too! Green is such a wonderful color choice, especially for spring and summer, when there’s so much more green in nature.

I’ve only read two of these books, but I’m a bit obsessed with how beautiful all the covers look in that collage!
