Hello everyone! I hope everyone is doing well!
I don’t have too much to share today! Billy has been away camping this weekend, on a remote island with little cell service (I wish I was kidding!) and I will be anxiously waiting for him to get home today. Wyatt and I have had a few good days hanging out though while his dad has been out with the guys. We had a weekend of Wyatt – shopped for books, ice cream, games, painting, reading, popcorn and M & Ms, macaroni and cheese for dinner. We have both been missing Billy but will be very happy to see him tonight.
Read Last Week:

I read middle grade/YA books last week and I really enjoyed them both! The Currie book was fun because it takes place in Saugatuck, MI, which is one of my favorite places in the state. I love to visit there! I know which house the fictional house in the book is based on, but to say might be too spoilery! If you don’t want to know, don’t go googling old houses near Saugatuck. On the other hand, if you do want to know, then go ahead and google away.
The Nancy Drew was also a fun read as well. It was my first time reading Nancy Drew, and I would probably never have read one of these vintage mysteries except Lisa over Boondock Ramblings has been reading them, and it piqued my interest. It was fun read!
Reading This Week:

I love the sound of both of these. The Easy life in Kamusari sounds like it will be very slow living, nature vibes and I need that right now, but then on the other hand a bookshop…it’s hard to say which one I will pick!
Posted Last Week:

And that is it from me today!
I think we all need a little slow living these days! I haven’t been to Saugatuck in ages. What a good reminder.

Reading that book put me in the mood to go back! Lol. It’s been a few years since I have been there and I think I need to plan a quick trip out that way!

I am so tempted to google about the old house!

The middle grade book sounds very good. I can’t believe how many books take place in Michigan. I guess it is one exciting state. 😂
I’ve heard of that bookshop one and it sounds really good.
Looking forward to when Billy gets home.
Also – don’t expect anything too exciting out of those Nancy Drew books! 😂😂

The Nancy Drew are perfect for what I need right now!

The first time I read one of the Nancy Drew mysteries I was shocked to see how good Nancy Drew is. You do not see characters in contemporary kids’ books who act so ethically! My mom loved Nancy Drew and she kept urging me to read her stories, but I never did until after my mom had passed. I wish I had read the books when she was still here.
It’s fun for me to read books that are set near where I live. I think that’s one of the reasons I like Katherine Center books so much—she is from Houston and she often includes Texas settings in her stories.

They are such good wholesome characters! That is so sweet to have that connection though now. I have lost loved ones and one thing I do to keep them close in memory and in my life is to do a little something sometimes that they would have done. Like read a certain book or paint like my stepfather or bake like my uncle or surprise my nieces with little celebrations like my aunt.
It is really fun to read books set where you live!

It’s been a long time since I read a Nancy Drew book, but they are so good. Now you are making me want to read them again.
Hope you have a great week!

This was my first time reading a Nancy Drew book! I thought it was really light and wholesome and a good distraction. I have another all ready to go. Lol.

Sounds like a wonderful weekend with Wyatt, but I can imagine how much you’ve been thinking of Billy. I have never read a Nancy Drew book, but I definitely need to. Glad you enjoyed it! Have a great week. 🙂

Wyatt and I had a fun time together! It was crazy to think about Billy on that island. Lol. It was a fun read! I had not read one before this. Thank you!

I read Nancy Drew books from that era when I was a kid — and they were already vintage, but my small-town library had a large collection. I haven’t tried re-reading them as an adult.

This is my first go with them and it was pretty darn cute! Very light and distracting which I needed.

I always have a hard time when my husband goes away and there’s no cell service. I’m glad Billy’s coming home today. 🙂
I’ve never been to MI. I’ve wanted to visit, though. I’m glad you enjoyed WHAT LIVES IN THE WOODS. It sounds fun.
I’ve never read a Nancy Drew book either. I really enjoyed the CW show. I’m sure it wasn’t really like the books, though. Are there supernatural elements in the series?
Anyway, thanks for stopping by my blog and I hope you have a great week!

Thank you! It was really difficult! Lol.
Michigan is a neat state but I am biased. 🙂 It was a fun read!
I really liked the CW show too! I was so bummed about it being canceled! The books are not supernatural like the show, which was a cool aspect of the show in my opinion. The books are straight mystery books but still cute.
Thank you!

Isn’t Saugatuck close to Frankenmuth? I remember driving through it a couple of times. Isn’t it funny how we are so used to being in constant contact with our people? I often think how my mom would go on vacation with one or two of my kids, and we wouldn’t hear from them for days. And, thought nothing of it!! Now, I’d be expecting a call at least once a day. I hope Billy had as much fun as you and Wyatt did, but I doubt it! I mean ice cream and mac and cheese? How can you top that…well, maybe by adding in pizza!
Have a fantastic week, Erin!

Saugatuck is on the west coast of Michigan, on the lake. Frankenmuth is more mid-Michigan. Saugatuck is a really cool spot, I think you would like it there! It is really artsy.
Yes! It was so bizarre to not be able to get in touch with him. It is so weird to think about life before cell phones. Billy and I got our first cell phones together, when they first became a thing, when we were in our 20s. I think about high school and how much easier life would have been had we had them. Lol.
I totally agree! I mean, what could be better? We had so much junk food. Lol. Too much honestly!

My aunts read Nancy Drew when they were younger and my grandma held on to some of them, so when my sister and I were kids, we would read those when we went to her house! I thankfully still have one of them today!

I remember binging on the Nancy Drew books, the Trixie Belden books, and the Hardy Boy when I was in my teens. I should revisit Nancy since I do enjoy rereading. I’m glad you and Wyatt had a great weekend while Billy was away. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

Oh, I love the look of those two you are Reading Now! And I’ve never read a Nancy Drew, either, even though I’m obsessed with The Three Investigators, who are obviously of the same time. I get to quite enjoy time without Matthew though the cats get really clingy – and I just get used to it when he comes back. Also he’s always somewhere with WiFi so we can talk most days!

I was obsessed with Nancy Drew as a kid, but I haven’t read any of them since then. It would be interesting to read them now as an adult. I wonder if I would still enjoy them?? I’m glad you enjoyed the one you read.
