Hello everyone! This past week was full of just normal day to day activities – school, housework, appointments… you know how it is. I do feel like I got a lot accomplished and caught up on some things which was nice, as we have some big projects in the works!
Read Last Week:

I finished The Love Remedy which was a bit more political/religious than I had anticipated. I enjoyed it but it is probably not the book for everyone. I am hoping to do some mini-reviews this week and I will include the trigger warnings for those who might be more sensitive to certain topics.
I also read a bit of Watership Down for my annual reread. I never get tired of Hazel and the gang. I will be finishing it up this week and I will be saying goodbye to the bunnies for another year.
Reading This Week:

This one has been on my TBR for a year and I am excited to read it. I need a little magical realism and spring cozy vibes right now!

Top Ten Tuesday – What Book Characters Would You Like to Vacation With
Watching:
We are watching lots of Billy picks these days! We usually watch about an hour of television a night and our nighttime viewing has gotten a bit more action packed.
We watched the new Road House movie starring Jake Gyllenhaal last Sunday. Billy loved the original that starred Patrick Swayze and has been wanting to watch this remake. My brother scoffed at the idea that Jake could ever take Patrick’s place, and we had to evaluate it for him. I don’t think I was the best judge but Billy said that Gyllenhaal did a great job of stepping into Swayze’s shoes. I have to admit, I enjoyed the movie way more than I thought I would, although I do not believe it needed to be 2 hours long. It was obvious though that Gyllenhaal put a lot of time into readying himself for this role!

This week we also watched Beyond Paradise, Only Murders in the Building (S3), and Fallout. Fallout is…different. I don’t know anything about the video game but Billy has been bouncing off the walls wanting to watch it so we started it. It is pretty darn graphic, but the fifties styling of some of it is pretty awesome. I also love Lucy’s hair – she has the perfect curtain bangs. Because these are the things I apparently think about while watching it. I also really like the soundtrack. So far Lucy is my favorite. I like the vault dwellers, they are like these boy scouts (although there is a bit of allusion to some er.. questionable behaviors) of this world, or at least it seems like it to me so far.

And that is it from me this week! How are you all doing?
I look forward to seeing your review of Love Remedy. And it will be interesting to see what you think about the latest reread of Watership Down. I wonder how many times you have read it.
Those purple-ish flowers in your header are beautiful!

The Love Remedy was really an interesting read.
Oh man, I wish I knew too!! I know the first time I read it I was probably like 10 or 11. And I didn’t start rereading it then, but picked it back up when I was in college, then I would read it every few years or so. And then maybe started rereading it every year about 15 years ago? I have read it many, many times. I have also read Plague Dogs and it haunted me so badly I will never read it again. It just bothered me so much!

I haven’t been a fan of Fallout but I agree with you on the soundtrack and the styling! They are very well done.
I enjoy Beyond Paradise! I binged S1 over Christmas and will probably binge S2 once its all available.

They did a fantastic job with all the styling, and the soundtrack is so good.
I love it too! Humphrey and Martha are so cute.

I liked the original because of Patrick Swayze.

All of your book covers are so pretty this week, especially the 50th(!) anniversary edition of Watership Down. I hadn’t seen that one!

I love that copy of Watership Down! I have been putting together a small collection of different copies and that was one I had to have. I usually ask my son and husband for one for Mother’s Day. 🙂

I love that you reread Watership Down every year! It’s been on my TBR for a while and I mean to read it this year, hopefully! I’m glad you’re enjoying Fallout and I agree with all you said, and yes, her curtain bangs are perfect! 😍

Love the new spring photos. We watched Only Murders in the Building for the first time this week, just 2 episodes. It was bizarre. Maybe when we learn more?

I think it is one of those shows people either like or dislike, there is no in between for some reason. My brother and SIL really didn’t like it, and only watched maybe one or two episodes as well.
And thank you!

OK, as soon as I finish the three books I’m currently reading (who am I right now), I promise I will read Watership Down. I had a student with a severe learning disability…she could barely read in fifth grade, but she loved Watership Down. Her mom would read it to her. She just kept renewing it until it fell apart! Luckily, we had a loving librarian at the time who just ordered a new one rather than punish her for destroying a book. She didn’t mean to, but you can only carry those books so many times in a book bag before bad things happen.
We are watching Girls5eva which has to be one of the dumbest shows ever! Next up is catching up on Palm Royale. After all the dark shows we had watched, it was time for some brain-numbing silliness!

I LOVE that story about your student! And yes. My very first copy fell apart too, I read it so much! The copy I am reading now is actually fall apart too. I am glad that I started collecting different copies for this very reason. This will probably the last year I actually read this particular copy, so it will stay intact.
I can’t wait to watch Palm Royale! It looks so good!!!

My hubby has been watching Fallout, too! He’s been talking about it forever. I kind of just half-watch while I read!

I agree with you about The Love Remedy. I’ve read other books by the author. They all include quite a dose of politics along with the romance. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

I didn’t realize that about her work! That is good to know, thank you.

I’ve decided to reread Watership Down. It showed up on a list of best books and I thought I needed to read it again since I couldn’t remember anything but a fear of the highway. And I’m not sre if that is in it actually. Ha!
Check out the colors of the tulips I visited this week! My Sunday Salon is so colorful this week

I enjoyed The Love Remedy, but like you I was surprised by some of the content. To be honest, it was a little distracting. I would’ve liked it more if it was left out. Still, I did enjoy it overall.

I really liked Flowerheart. It was a fairly light hearted and easy read, which I definitely needed after The Love Remedy. It was quick, and fairly simple, if that makes sense.

I think I’ll pass on Love Remedy. I just finished a book that had some pretty heavy religious and political overtones and was not a fan. We’ve been watching Formula 1 but not much else TV-wise. One of these days I’m going to read Watership Down. It’s one of my husband’s favorite books. I hope you’re having a great week.

Eh, that would be my recommendation honestly. I was not a big fan of it. It wasn’t terrible but it was too much.
I love that your husband loves Watership Down as well! I hope that you are as well.
