Hello everyone! We had a pretty good week! We had a fun eclipse day, celebrated my niece’s birthday at a bowling alley where Wyatt bowled for the first time, and had a lot of lazy days for our spring break. Saturday we went to a used book sale at a local library and this was my haul for $8.00! I think I did pretty good. They had mystery bags for $1.00 each, and each bag had ten books. They were marked with different genres. I grabbed two bags labeled Mystery (so I had a mystery bag full of mystery books!). It was very exciting for me. Lol.
I plan to read and divvy up between a few other readers I know…
Reading:
I didn’t find as much time to read as I had planned! I only made it through one of my books. It was a short book, but a very thoughtful book. I took a lot of time to read it and “digest” each one of the individuals stories. I did enjoy it. I thought the premise was so unique, and it was such a combination of so many things – nostalgia, memory, foodways, research and detective work, logic, all wrapped up in each meal. It was beautiful and poignant, and gave me a lot to think about. Have I had a meal that meant so much to me, that it could remind me of one moment in time so completely, that it could take me back to that moment if I ate it again, if it were prepared in the exact same way? I did enjoy this book, but it did get a little repetitive. That is my only complaint! I am definitely glad that I read it. I also finished wanting to eat Japanese food so badly, so we might be doing that soon.
I did start my yearly reread of Watership Down but had to set it aside so I could get to The Kamogawa Food Detectives and The Love Remedy, which were 14 day loans from the library. I started with The Kamogawa Food Detectives because I checked it out a week before The Love Remedy, so now I need to move on the that one. Then, it will be back to Watership and my bunnies.

Watching:
We are finishing up Dirk Gently, which is super weird but good. I read though that they cancelled it, so I am apprehensive about the last episode. Are they going to leave us hanging forever, or will they wrap up the storyline? Eek! I will find out in two episodes whether they do or not! As soon as we wrap up Dirk Gently, Billy wants me to watch one episode of Fallout. He says if I don’t like it after an episode then he will watch it on his own. I have a feeling that is what will be happening.
We are also watching Murdoch Mysteries and Death in Paradise, both of which made me sad! It was a rough week of tv watching! We are also watching Beyond Paradise, which I really like.

I always feel like all my books from the library get released from holds at the same time and I’m rushing to read 5 or 6 books in 2 weeks😝

The surprise bags for $1 were really fun. Lol. I ended up getting 20 books for $2.00 with those.

They mystery bags sound so fun! But even if I don’t do physical books as often I love to see them in bookstores and libraries.

That’s a great haul! Lots of books for so little, love it! I have been short on reading (and blogging and everything else, LOL). I am doing more sewing though and that is fun. Have a great week!

I really would like to sew more. My skill is at the very basic level but it’s always on my list to practice more. And that used book sale was so much fun.

my hubby likes to watch death in paradise i really enjoy vera on brit box. I not read the books for that series but want to just to see if the character is as cheeky in the books as the tv show. I like library sales i usually find a few things.

There truly is nothing like buying a book…unless it’s buying a plant! I finished a book in two days this past week. That’s the fastest I’ve finished a book in ages. We are watching Girls5eva which is an old show, I think. It’s sorta OK. I really want to see a movie in a theatre. I just don’t know what movies are out, and since it costs so much, I want it to be a really good one!

Oo yeah that is a tough one!! Plant or book…. I would probably choose plant first honestly, since I use the library so much. Unless.. it is a book for Wyatt. Then I would pick book. Lol.

I have no idea what is in theaters either. Lol. Billy just went and saw Dune at the show, and we watched Roadhouse here at home. (which was pretty good! I like an action movie now and again.)

I love library sales! There is a small town I drive through basically every day, and their library had a sale, so of course I went – I basically cleaned them out of all their children’s books, between Henry and getting some for his daycare!

The Kamogawa Food Detectives sounds like fun. I hope Love Remedy works for you, too, and that you get at least a little time to read Watership Down.

That’s an awesome haul for only $8! That’s why I have to stay far away from library sales. I’d spend all my money and end up with the entire library in my house.

It was fun to pick through all the books! It was very heavy on non-fiction and light on fiction though so it was a little easier. Lol.

That is quite the book haul. A church in the neighboring town has a massive one every June that we look forward to every year.
I am curious about The Fallout.

What a fun sale! Our library did grab bags by genre for checkout when covid hit and it was so fun! I love the idea of a mystery bag at a sale – especially if its mystery books.
