Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful week last week! Ours was quite full! Wyatt had his Lokomat therapy twice, we had an appointment to pick up his new leg braces, and Thursday evening I went to my friend’s house for a gathering of my crew. Then the weather was so nice on Friday that I went crazy spring cleaning my house. By Friday night, I was exhausted and ready to just chill out in my pajamas and drink some tea!

This week is set to be busy as well. We are entering a period of many appointments for Wyatt and myself actually, and it seems like every week someone has an appointment or two! This week though, Wyatt has an appointment at U of M hospital at 7:45 am – and it is an hour away. So we are going to stay overnight again the night before, and I will probably drive out early and find something fun to do with him before we check into the hotel. It is just so much easier than hoping we don’t run into bad weather or traffic on the way to his appointment because you never know, and we would also have to get up sooooo early if we didn’t stay overnight.

Then in a more fun overnight, we are going away for the weekend for Wyatt’s birthday! Can you all believe this kid is going to be 9? We have a few things planned for his weekend away, and then when we get home we will have parties with our families. We have such a big family and such a small house though that we need to do them all spaced out! Lol. So Wyatt gets to have multiple birthday parties which is pretty cool – and lots of cake and ice cream!

Reading:

Last week I shared that I was making my way through a pile of cozy, gentle kid’s books, and I have loved every book that I have read so far.

So far, I have finished Winter Cottage, All-of-a-Kind Family, The Boxcar Children, and Miracles on Maple Hill. I have read Little House in the Big Woods a billion times so I may not make it to that one this time around. That leaves The Railway Children and Kildee House, which I am currently working on and should finish probably today. I plan on starting a memoir as well, A Cotswold Family Life, which was a Christmas gift from Billy. I have been waiting for the right time to start it and now seems just about perfect.

Watching:

Billy and I are watching Murdoch Mysteries and The Mysterious Benedict Society, which is really cute and well done. I love that Tony Hale, who played Buster in Arrested Development (my fave character) plays two roles in The Mysterious Benedict Society. He does a fantastic job in both roles! This article describes the show as whimsical and weird, which is exactly what I like best, so no wonder I love this show. I guess I should read the books? Hmmmm. Maybe next time I go on a children’s book binge.

And that is it from my corner of the world! What is going on in your neighborhood?

  1. First! 😂😂

Sounds like you have a long but exciting week ahead! I can’t believe our squirts are nine with mine going to be 10 in October! 😩😩 It’s crazy!

Glad you enjoyed all the middle-grade books. It was a good idea to read them. I’m hoping to finish Miracles on Maple Hill this week.

I enjoyed The Mysterious Benedict Society. Just the right kind of weirdness for me.

A Cotswold Family Life sounds like the perfect thing to read after cozy children’s books.

I hope all goes well with your busy week — staying overnight before an early appointment seems wise, especially in the winter.

    1. It is a good level of weirdness, I agree!

I am hoping to start A Cotswold Family Life tonight – it’s been crazy this week so far. Lol. And thank you! It turned out to be a good decision because the weather forecast was calling for severe storms for the morning of the appointment.

  3. Somehow I’ve missed hearing that The Mysterious Benedict Society is a series. Yes, you should look for the book…and maybe it’s a book series as well? I know I read and loved the first one.

I’ve been reading a bunch of kids’ books lately, and I’ve enjoyed them to pieces.

Good luck with all of your upcoming appointments.

  4. I hope the appointments all go smoothly – and yes… it’s childrens’ birthdays that tend to trip us up – I can’t believe that my eldest turned 40 in December!!! I hope Wyatt’s birthday week is full of fun and I need to check out The Mysterious Benedict Society – it sounds just what I’m looking for right now. Have a great week:)).

  5. I like that you make Wyatt’s appointments a travel adventure, too. True — It’s as much for convenience as anything else, but still, it adds something special to what is probably a trying and nervous appointment. Good luck with that and with yours, too.

    1. Thank you Jeanie! He is such a trooper about all of his appointments and therapy all of the time, that I try very hard to make them less of a chore. Although I was unsuccessful at finding an adventure on Monday! Our adventure had to just be the hotel itself. Lol. All of the museums and attractions were closed because it was a Monday! I had no idea. He had fun in the hotel arcade instead, which was a new thing for him, and he maybe enjoyed that more than he would have a museum…

Happy 9th birthday, Wyatt! My youngest just turned 40 (you know…just to put things into perspective)! I hope all goes well for all of the appointments. I think a hotel stay is always fun (as long as the hotel is clean). I just finished a book about Truman Capote and Lee Radziwill. It was boring as beans, but I was determined to finish it! We watched Griselda which stars Sofia Vergara…and, it was not a comedy at all! We just started The Tourist. I told Mike the next thing we watch needs to be quite light hearted!

    Have a fabulous week, Erin!

    1. Lol! My dad almost fell over when I reminded him of my age the other night. I was like sorry dad….

I agree about hotels. I can be a real weirdo about where we stay and have in the past asked to see the room before checking in. Weber’s is a very nice hotel; I recommend it if you ever decide to vacation in Michigan!

  7. Happy birthday to Wyatt! And how is he 9?? I hope he has the best birthday and you’re all able to have some fun. Appointments do seem to come in phases and it does get crazy for a bit. I hope you’ve had a great week!
