It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

Hey all!! Last week we spent just a lot of time around the house, which was ok. We did evening walks/bike rides for Wyatt, watched Newhart in the early evenings, went to the library a few times, just little things here and there. Wyatt had a few appointments last week as well. It’s about to get wild around here though, we go on vacation next week and I have to start the dreaded “getting ready!”

Read Last Week:

I finished up The Unplugged Summer by George Horner, which was a fast, informational little read. Horner had to go through quite a bit to work in the States at the summer camp, and once there, had to find his way in a totally new environment. I was supposed to read The Only One Left by Riley Sager but I chickened out. I love a good thriller but lately I haven’t been necessarily in the mood to be scared. So I picked up an old favorite of mine, Wait for What Will Come by Barbara Michaels. I love Michaels and I have read them so many times that they are comfort reads for me by now.

Reading This Week:

They had me at the blurb with this one – a combo of Clue and The Great British Bake Off? Sounds perfect!!

Listening:

I am loving this book! I am so glad I chose to listen to it – the reader Michael Kramer is amazing. And this book is so delightful as well! Tress and her cups and her quest – it sort of reminds of The Princess Bride a little, for some reason.

Just one post! Tuesday Morning Coffee Catch Up

Watching:

I discovered we had a bunch of Murdoch Mysteries we hadn’t watched yet and so we started catching up. I didn’t like this show too much when we started it, it is really sort of campy, but it grew on me and now I love it. Just all of it. We are waiting until we have a bunch of When Calls the Heart and Only Murders in the Building episodes to watch them. We don’t like waiting once we have started! We did watch the first episode of Season 10 of WCTH and I loved it so much I could have watched it again, immediately.

How’s it going in your world?

  1. I’m especially interested in the Golden Spoon and the camp books. Both sound up my alley. We binged Season One of Only Murders and have started season 2. I just got Hulu but it is Hulu Live (to replace cable) with ads and boy — are the ads ever annoying. They break in three times (It’s not that long a show) and with about two or a little more minutes of ads in each break — at least three, sometmes four, ads or promos. I’m trying to decide if I will keep live or try to find other alternatives for the stations I want to watch and go to just plain Hulu. Ugh. Well, still saving money on cable…

  2. The Golden Spoon has my attention. Vacation planning sounds fun and I wanted to thank you for your nice comment on my blog. I am so eager for winter to get here – these temperatures are awful this year.

  3. Clue + Great British Baking Show? Very intriguing! Let’s see what you think.

I like to set suitcases out about a month before I leave and start putting things in gradually. I know, I know, it’s a little much.

We haven’t tried Murdoch Mysteries. Maybe we shall.

  4. I am now totally intrigued by The Golden Spoon! We are going on vacation soon, too, so I need to print out my packing lists (yes, more than one!) and start gathering stuff. My husband, of course, gets to just pack his clothes and get in the car, ha!

  5. Hope all goes well with holiday preparation and your trip! I’ve been back to running properly this week and enjoying that, also doing quite a lot of work, so all good. I went into the city and met a dear friend I met on the first day of university today, which was different for a Sunday and very enjoyable.

  6. I really enjoy Michael Kramer’s narration. I have read every single thing Elizabeth Peters but nothing Barbara Michaels. I think I would like her books.

We will be staying inside to start this week with a heat advisory for the next few days.

I am in for the Golden Spoon, too! I finished two more of the T Kingfisher books. Then, I started reading the #3 book when I needed to read the #2 book first of another series.

We finished The Righteous Gemstones, The Witcher, and The Lincoln Lawyer. We started watching The Great about Catherine the Great. It’s definitely not a family friendly show! But, it’s rather hilarious in its own way.

Hope you have a fabulous week, Erin!

    1. The Golden Spoon sounds so good! Two of my favorite things in one comparison, how could it not? I am going to pick Kingfisher up again this winter I think.

My brother has been telling us to watch The Righteous Gemstones, I need to add it to the watchlist! And oy, I love The Witcher because…Henry Cavill. Like I could care less about the show honestly, and just watch him walking around as the witcher. Lol.

      Thanks Marsha!

I hope the vacation prep goes well and you have a fun time! The Golden Spoon really does sound good. My husband and I want to start watching Only Murders in the Building once we finish watching Bosch. Or maybe before if we get in the mood to mix things up as we sometimes do. I hope you have a great week and happy reading!

I was offered a copy of The Golden Spoon, but couldn’t take it on because I had too many books at the time. I look forward to your thoughts. Maybe I’ll request at my library. Hope you have fun on your vacation! Where are you going? I like prepping for vacations. The research and such. The packing, not so much. 🙂

  10. I love Wait for What Will Come! That was the first thing I read that really discussed clotted cream and I remember being desperate to try it. I’m so looking forward to your thoughts on The Golden Spoon. It looks so fantastic. Adding Tress of the Emerald Sea to my TBR. Hope you’re having a great week!
