My Sunday-Monday Post

The week ahead feels daunting to me. Wyatt has two huge specialist appointments this week and to say I am feeling anxious would be an understatement. I am keeping the rest of my week easy to make it a little more manageable; however we are at the end of our specialist visit gauntlet run that we have been on for the last few weeks with these. Then I might take a breath. Hopefully at least.

What I Read Last Week:

Shores of Mercy by Lisa R. Howeler – I very much enjoy this enjoyed this book. Well written, with relatable characters, a story of redemption which is always uplifting and inspiring.

A Woman in the Polar Night: I am not finished with this book yet but it is really good! Ritter’s comments on her situations sometimes make me laugh – she seems like she was bit snarky and I am here for it. I will finish this one up probably this week.

Reading This Week:

In addition to A Woman in the Polar Night, I am going to start this adorable little cozy fantasy. I am pretty sure this is the genre I have been waiting for all of my life.

Book Review: Shores of Mercy

Hello February!

Tuesday Morning Coffee Catch Up

Watching and Listening:

We have been watching Poker Face and Lockwood & Co. We love them both! Poker Face is a television show but each episode is like a mini-movie, and we have loved every single episode. Rian Johnson (Knives Out, Glass Onion) is a genius in my opinion.

Lockwood & Co. (Netflix) is a really cool world – one where there is an epidemic of ghosts. One touch can kill someone, and only kids can see them and fight them. It takes place in London and we love the whole idea of this and the world building. They are based on books by Jonathan Stroud, which I need to read.

We watched Spirited Away from Studio Ghibli last night. I enjoyed it but it was not my favorite. I like the cozier ones.

As for listening, I have been successful lately with certain audiobooks. I started listening to a book yesterday and while I am only just an hour in I am fascinated.

And that is it from my corner of the Mitten state! I hope you are all doing well, and staying warm if you are in one of the Arctic cold states!

  1. A cozy fantasy sounds delightful. I’ll be eager to hear more.

I wish I could watch Poker Face. It can be frustrated to only have a couple of streaming channels. I’ve found that if I am patient, I’ll eventually get to see it.

Sending good thoughts and prayers for a smooth run of specialist appointments this week.

    1. Legends and Lattes was the first I read in that genre and I absolutely loved it. It is so perfect for just unwinding completely.

We are notorious for picking up streaming channels and then canceling when we have watched what we wanted. We are always switching. Lol.

      Thank you Deb.

  2. Shores of Mercy and A Woman in the Polar Light appeal to me. Dogone it if three of my library holds didn’t come through at the same time so I’m trying to decide which to read first.

Did you change your top header? I thought there was a different photo of Wyatt on the left. Good luck with the appointments.

  3. I tend to do that, too…make myself an easy week, if possible, when something huge or daunting or stressful is happening that week. It definitely helps!

Wishing Wyatt all good news and results from the specialists!!!

    1. Thank you Cindy.

I’ve been trying so hard to listen to audiobooks lol. I don’t have as much time to read and audiobooks would be so helpful. I have found success in nonfiction audio, and also by reading/listening to the same book. Listen a little, then pick up in the book in that spot when I read. It’s been helpful.

  4. I hope your week goes well…you’ll both be in my thoughts.

I am reading two books at once…a first for me in quite a while. The first is Amoral Man or A Moral Man by Derek Delgaudio and A Merry Little Meet Cute. The first is by the guy who did “In and of Itself” which is a really strange show. The book is sort of autobiographical, I think. The second is a much lighter read but a little on the porny side! It wasn’t what I expected at all, but I just finished A Haunting History of Invisible Women and needed something really light!

I’m looking forward to watching the movie with Michelle Yeoh in Everything Everywhere All at Once as soon as we finish My Life is Murder with Lucy Lawless.

  5. My prayers for your appointments.
Funny, when I saw your cover for cozy fantasy, I thought of Kiki’s Delivery Service, and then you do mention Studio Ghibli! If you haven’t watched this one, please do, cozy, and so beautiful!

I hope Wyatt’s appointments go well and you are able to breath more easily soon. A Woman in the Polar Night sounds good. I hope you love The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches as much as I did. It came into my life just when I needed it. I have Cultish on my TBR shelf and am looking forward to reading it.

I really want to check out Lockwood & Co. My husband and I enjoyed the first episode of Poker Face. I am glad to hear you like it too. I look forward to watching more.

I hope you have a great week, Erin. Take care!

    1. Thank you! Tomorrow they will all be finished up for a while!

I am so excited to read that one. I didn’t get a chance this week, it just got too crazy but it sounds like it will be the book I need once all my crazy has slowed down.

We liked Lockwood and Co! And Poker Face is so good!!
