My Sunday-Monday Post!

Happy Halloween!! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, I love the excitement and seeing all of the costumes and carving pumpkins – which we did last night!

And I apologize for the huge picture – WordPress is being all wonky for me today. I am not sure what is happening but it is making me crazy.

We also watched Disney’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow cartoon, a favorite of mine since childhood, and followed it up with the Tim Burton version.

Last week I wasn’t able to read much at all – the week was super busy, busier than I had anticipated. It was all good stuff but not much time. I did get far enough in one of my books (The Wolf Hour) to decide I couldn’t finish it – it was just too sad. It was so well written though, and unlike anything I have read honestly, in terms of plot. Maybe if I were in a different space it wouldn’t have bothered me, but right now was just not the time.

Tomorrow Nonfiction November kicks off and I am so excited! I have only been participating a few years, and I am not anywhere near the level of nonfiction reader that the other participants are, but every year I read more and more nonfiction, in large part due to this event.

Reading This Week:

This book caught my eye – this cover is gorgeous. The setting is at a powwow held in a high school gymnasium in Ann Arbor, MI. And I have been to that powwow! So I am looking forward to this read.

I am all scary storied out for a while. Time to get back to my regular style of reading!

Posted Last Week:

Applejack, Boo Boxes, and Friday Nights from Crazytown

Greenfield Village – Late October

Watching:

Nancy Drew, Only Murders in the Building, Locke and Key Season 2, and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow for Billy and I. We also watched a few episodes of Vera, and started the Bread Baking Experiment on Amazon. Now I want a community of women to make bread with, darn it. Wyatt is watching Let’s Go Luna, Wild Kratts, and Scout and Daisy and the Gumboot Kids. He also loves Pete the Cat and Gabby’s Dollhouse. I am also still watching the YouTuber Rachel Maksy – she makes the coolest vintage projects and dresses! It makes me wish I could sew! And have somewhere to wear actual outfits to. That is kind of the biggest bummer about homeschooling and being a SAHM – I sort of miss dressing up for work some days. Not enough to actually get all dressed up for the day though. I mainly hang around the house in my uniform of jeans and a t-shirt, no makeup, and barefoot, and most days I am super happy with that arrangement. But sometimes, yeah, I miss getting dressed up.

How about you all? Everything good in your world? Any Halloween plans?

  1. Great photos! I haven’t done any Halloween stuff for many years, but enjoyed taking photos back in the day.

I love Vera…and realize there is a new season I need to catch!

I have only watched one episode of Only Murders in the Building. Perhaps I should resume watching!

Enjoy your Halloween…and your week. Here are my WEEKLY UPDATES

  2. I enjoy seeing the pumpkins. Our neighborhood goes all out. We are not doing anything this year. We are so used to sloppy clothes for being at home or working on projects. I do not want to go out yet or dress better. Happy Halloween!

    1. Our neighborhood doesn’t do much for Halloween, but my brother’s street goes crazy. It is really fun on their street. We took boyo trick or treating for a few blocks then called it a night though. He was so happy!

I would say 99% of the time I am totally happy and content in my lounge clothes at home. But there are days I just want to dress up a little bit. Maybe once a month I will for an hour or two then I will get it out of my system. Lol.

  3. I love Halloween. It’s the day before my birthday, and when I was a little girl, we always celebrated my birthday on Halloween. I felt like everyone dressed up in costumes and gave me candy just for me on my birthday!

Ancestor Approved looks great. I’m eagerly looking forward to the start of Nonfiction November tomorrow. In fact, I may start today.

I’ve looked and looked, but I can find out nothing about the Bread Baking Experiment on Amazon. Do I have the name wrong? Am I looking in the wrong place?

  4. Such festive pumpkins! We’re having a very low-key Halloween this year… just taking a pizza party over to my FIL. And I made him some apple crisp for dessert. We didn’t even carve pumpkins this year 😦

What is the Bread Baking Experiment – a series, a how-to video? It sounds interesting. I bake often, but have always been intimidated by yeast breads.

The cover of Ancestor Approved is gorgeous! My eye would have been drawn to that, too. Hope you have a good week.

    1. Yum apple crisp!!! Apple desserts are the best!

We only watched one episode of the Bread thing, but it was a group of women who got together to bake bread together, to bring the town together. I love the social community of it. There is another element of raising money by selling their bread to restore the local flour mill but I couldn’t figure out if when they did the whole town could use it? Or just get flour there? I will have to keep watching! https://www.amazon.com/Big-Bread-Experiment-1/dp/B099BFJMTR

  5. Ooh love the pumpkins! Happy Halloween!!! I love it, there’s something in the air on a cool crisp Halloween night. 🙂

I’m thinking about starting Nancy Drew or Locke and Key. Netflix is pushing that last one at me pretty hard 🙂

  6. I just heard someone talking about Only Murders in the Building and it has got me really curious about it. I love Halloween though we didn’t do much this year. It’s been ages since I’ve watched Sleepy Hollow – Disney version or Tim Burton. Your comment about the wardrobe needs for a SAHM made me laugh. I’m right there with you. I try to dress fairly nice when I run errands but I love a good gown and my gown needs are sadly low. Of course to have a social life that involves needing gowns involves way more people then I want to deal with so I guess there’s a trade off. Have a great week!

    1. We love that show!! I crack up at Martin Short. And Steve Martin. Lol. Wyatt absolutely loves Halloween and since we didn’t do anything last year, we went out for a bit this year. We did about six blocks and that was enough.

Lol!! I am the same!! I love love watching Rachel Maksy – she always looks so cute! But I think where in the world would I wear that? Am I too old? I think I am? Also, the people thing – I don’t want to be where the people are. Lol.
