We had a pretty ordinary week last week. Which was perfectly fine. Homeschool, I worked for my cousin, and that is about it really. Yesterday we attended something called FrankenFest which was neat, and then later on had a late night fire with my brother and his family. The kids were up late, we were out late, it was fun. I remember those occasional late nights when I was a kid and they always seemed so magical.
Read Last Week:
I read this book in two days – it was a fun fast read! I hope to do a review post of a few of the books I have been reading this week.
Reading This Week:
I have been wanting to really work on reading more own voices books for various reasons and seem to have fallen down a rabbit hole. I started Onigamiising last week and am really enjoying it. And when I requested Gichigami Hearts from NetGalley I didn’t realize the two books were written by the same author!

Watching:
We are still watching Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple on BritBox. They are so well done! Although in the last one that we watched, one of the characters at the end killed another character very unexpectedly. My husband and I looked at each other in surprise and he said “Well that got dark quickly.” Which made us laugh since we are watching murder mysteries. We also started the LuLaRoe documentary LuLaRich and we are fascinated by it.

Sounds like a fun week! I have been intending to go back on BritBox to watch some of those mysteries. I haven’t ever watched Agatha Christie, which is hard to believe, right?

It is so crazy!!! Those conferences remind me of wild parties or something for SAHMs. LOL. I mean, not saying I wouldn’t want to go to one because it looked like a good time. Lol. But the whole thing itself, how it unfolded, what happened – wild!

Those late nights with family are always so good, aren’t they? We all love it. Onigamiising sounds so interesting – I’m going to have to look it up. I’d love to watch those Agatha Christie mysteries – I enjoy the occasional read but I always feel they were designed for the screen. Hope you have a great week!

They are! Sitting around the fire, chatting, kids playing or sitting quietly together as they grow sleepy – such good times. And Onigamiising is really good so far. It is all short essays so easy to just pick up and read when you don’t have tons of time.
I have never read a Miss Marple! I have read Agatha Christie before but not any of the Miss Marples. I am loving this show. 🙂

There is nothing wrong with a productive but even keel week with the simple pleasures of being home and with family. I look forward to not having so many projects after this fall and being able to just enjoy things and get back to some knitting, sewing and quilting which I am letting slide these days!

When my kids were little we used to sit outside after dark and watch the “heat lightening” and tell scary stories. Such good memories.

Aw I remember doing that too! I distinctly remember actually sitting outside on Chincoteague Island doing just that. Such a good memory.

Well..it wasn’t that late. Like 9:45, lol but that is late for us!! We are not under a curfew though – America is like the freaking wild west unfortunately. We keep our bubble small and our outings masked or within our bubble. 😦

Well our curfew recently tightened from 11 to 8, so 9:45 still sounds late to me – especially with there also being beach restrictions (which is harsh when you’re on an island in the Caribbean as I am). Our numbers have been climbing though so ish got real this past week.

We love a mystery around here! I should probably do a round two of my Cozy British Mystery tv shows post.
They are right! The kids played around in a tent we put up, sat by the fire, had marshamallows, it was a good night. 🙂

I’d like to read The Lost Apothecary.

I used to love the rare times that my parents let me stay up late. I was almost never able to stay awake, but what a treat.

I picked up a copy last week of Everything You Wanted to Know About Indians by a brilliant Ojibwe professor, and I read it on the flight to Chicago. On the way home I started Firekeeper’s Daughter. I had no idea that many of the characters in FD were Ojibwe. Now I need to look for Onigamiising, I think.

I had to crack up when I read that comment about “well that got dark fast”…we say that a lot when we are watching things.
I have been noticing that the covers of your books are all similar, with flowers, dark covers, and no people. Hmmm…I should analyze this for you more 😉

Your late night sounds so fun and I’m sure the kids had such a wonderful time! You’re right about the late nights feeling so magical. I haven’t rewatched the Miss Marple movies in so long. I’m rereading all the books but the show and the books are a bit different some time so it’d be fun to do a rewatch. I really want to watch LulaRich. I watch a decent amount of Anti-MLM content on YouTube and some of the stuff they talk about is absolutely fascinating and a bit shocking. I hope you’re having a great week!

LulaRich was crazy! I didn’t know there was anit-MLM content on YouTube – I will have to search it out. I don’t think I realized exactly how much they preyed on people – at least LuLaRoe since I don’t know much about any other MLM.
