This week of #NonFicNov is hosted by Julz of JulzReads
This week, pair up a nonfiction book with a fiction title. It can be a “If you loved this book, read this!” or just two titles that you think would go well together. Maybe it’s a historical novel and you’d like to get the real history by reading a nonfiction version of the story.
This one was such a fun one last year!
“The beauty of cider lies in its simplicity..” The Cider Revival: Dispatches from the Orchard
The Simplicity of Cider is one of my favorite books – I love Amy E. Reichert, and this book was a delight to read, full of cider and apples and family and magic. I have been having my own little love affair with cider this year, so when The Cider Revival recently hit my radar, I gobbled it up. Like, just read the heck out of it and then regaled my husband and family with a multitude of cider facts for days. I feel so well-versed in the world of cider!
This book even inspired a cider tasting and fire night with my brother and sister-in-law this weekend!

Ooh, great pairing! This is always my favorite week of the event.
I loved it last year and I am looking forward to reading everyone’s pairs!!
There seems a lot of different kinds of cider! I like good old apple cider. These books look good.
I received quite the cider education from Wilson’s book~ lol.
Great books about cider! Enjoy your week and your books.
Thanks Laurel-Rain!
Great pairing!!
Here’s mine: https://happiestwhenreading.com/2020/11/09/fiction-nonfiction-pairings/
Thanks!
Sounds like the perfect fall pairing! Now you have to read The Cider House Rules!
I have!! John Irving is one of my favorite authors of all time!
Ok, I totally want to read both of these now!
I really enjoyed them both!
This does seem like a good pairing!
I have a thing about apples. Lol.
What a nice fall pairing! I haven’t heard of either of these books, but they both seem like something I’d enjoy. Thanks for sharing them!
I really loved them both!
I love that the two books have inspired you! Thanks for sharing
I really enjoyed them both!
I am completely addicted to Apple Cider. so I can very well understand the fascination! (The Reichert one has a matching lovely cover too.)
Yay!! Another cider fan! I have really gotten into it this year.
These are perfect books for fall reading. I love cider so they truly appeal to me. Thanks for sharing!
The Cider Revival was really interesting! I loved reading about the old apple types and orchards.
That’s an excellent matchup.
Thank you!
I’d not heard of the nonfiction half of this pairing, but it sounds delightful. For some reason, I really like the idea of learning more about fun drinks, whether that means coffee or wine or cider. Maybe it makes me feel sophisticated :p
Lol! I like that reasoning, it sounds like me too. I enjoy reading about drinks as well. 🙂
What a fab pairing. I actually started a series called Fact or Fiction where I pair up a fiction and nonfiction book that relate to each other. I’ve only had two posts so far, but still, it’s a fun idea. I love it.

I’m not a beer drinker at all but I do love some hard cider! Both of these books look good.
I believe I read her Coconut Cake book; it was a good romance.
That was a good one!
