It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

Last week was all about parties it seemed – planning and preparing for Wyatt’s fifth birthday party, and then all the Valentine’s things! Party with his cousins, party at school, our family Valentine celebration..it was just a week centered around celebrating I guess. Which made it fun! Billy and I event got a date night in there as well! I am super excited about Wyatt’s party, which is going to be lumberjack themed with a cake that looks like a stack of pancakes!

Read Last Week:

A Winter Wedding at Willow Tree Hall by Alison Sherlock: The third in this series, and probably my very favorite. I have really enjoyed them all, such just pleasant happy little reads, but I loved this one. I loved boho shy Skye and her crazy Airstream and fear of the outdoors and countryside! I think that there is another one in this series but I will come back to this series; I loved them but I am ready to move on from their cozy little world.

Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts by Kate Racculia: OMG I loved this book!!!! I picked it up on a whim and instantly fell in love with it once I started reading. I loved The Westing Game as a kid and this book reminded me of it. I have really kicked off my reading year with books about clever people solving puzzles (The Truly Devious series and now this book) and now I just want more like this. This book was so fantastic – it was funny, quirky, nods to pop culture from my own youth… absolutely awesome book. I’m hoping to get to some book reviews this week, and this will probably be in that roundup!

Reading This Week:

The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern: So, I was going to give this book a pass. I was among the minority I think, who did not like The Night Circus, so I was not going to read this one. But then my husband listened to it and loved it, so I have decided to try it out. Plus, it also sounds like it is about solving a puzzle/mystery/game! So perfect timing!

Around the World in 80 Trees: I am fascinated by this book although I probably only read a few trees a week. I feel like my nerd level of telling people facts about trees without them asking is about to go up..

Posted Last Week:

A Valentine’s Day for the Birds

What Wyatt’s Reading – Valentine Edition

Watching:

I am stilling watching Grace and Frankie (which just doesn’t sound as good as Frankie and Grace..) and Billy and I have started watching Doc Martin. He is a bit abrasive but I still like it. Wyatt’s still watching Scout and the Gumboot Kids, Daniel Tiger, and Molly of Denali, so I guess I am watching that as well, at times. Lol.

What about you all? What is going on in your world?

  1. Nothing wrong with celebrating. Happy early birthday to Wyatt and a date night too? Nice.

You’re just not getting to let it go with Grace and Frankie, are you? 😉 Speaking of, I binge-watched Season 2 last night. It’s a little wild, okay, a lot, but I guess I’ll stick with it. My wife has watched up until this last season and we’re going through all of the rest before finishing up with this final season.

  2. I remember those younger grades- yes it was parties for everything haha and they were fun. The lumberjack theme sounds great!

We watch Doc Martin too although it’s been a while. He is a little curmudgeonly haha but it’s a fun show.

    1. Yes, so fun! But yes, so many! LOL. I feel like I need to gear up for St. Patrick’s day already. I am super excited about his party! It’s not for a few weeks still but so much planning. We will actually be on your side of the state for a few days at the beginning of the month. We thought it would be fun to take a little tiny trip away for his fifth. 🙂

He is totally a curmudgeon! But with a good heart buried under all that which won me over.

  3. I don’t think I realized how few celebrations there are once you get out in the real world, out of school. We definitely need to spend more time celebrating. I’m glad you are enjoying all the celebrations of your young son.

Tuesday Mooney sounds like great fun. I love Westing Game, too. I hope kids find their way to Tuesday Mooney.

Take your time with the tree book. It’s the best way to read it, I think.

    Have a lovely week.

    1. Right? Before I had Wyatt I worked in an elementary school so I still had these celebrations but yeah, once you are an adult you don’t really have that opportunity. You have to make your own and do it up!

And Tuesday Mooney was so good! And yes, the tree book is one to take slow and enjoy. 🙂 I am really loving that one too.

Looks like you had a wonderful week! Wyatt’s party will be a blast. If you can, we would love to see some pics 😍
Downton Abbey is coming back for a 7th season, so I will probably be binge-watching that.

  5. Hallo, Hallo Erin,

I’ve definitely have decided to add a few of your selections to my TBR – which I noted on my #TheSundayPost (at the end). When it comes to “The Starless Sea” I’m going to wait til I have the chance to feel connected into “The Night Circus” – as I always wanted to read and/or listen to that one – thankfully my library has both in print and audiobook so I am thinking it won’t be too hard to get a copy.

    Thanks for sharing!

  6. I think Doc Martin — and all the characters in Port Wenn — will grow on you. We love the series! In some of the later episodes they sometimes round them out with behind the scene things. That might be when it’s on TV (not Acorn or Britbox). All delightful. He evolves so much from the first episodes to the current season. I hope you stick with it!
