I finished up my Christmas shopping for all kids under 12 in my family last week! My family decided a few years ago to just buy for the kids and not really for the adults anymore so this means, I am almost done! I need just a few more things, including a few small things for my husband, as well as teachers and therapists, then I can say I am finished completely. I wanted to be done by December, but I am ok with where I ended up. This morning (Saturday as I write this) we are heading to a pottery market; my mother-in-law sells her pottery at this art show so we go to support and I usually also pick up little things for Wyatt’s team while I am there. So, hopefully I will be finished with them today! It is also my husband’s work Christmas party tonight and I am looking forward to going. It is always a good time.
Read Last Week:

I finished Wrapped Up for Christmas! It was a fun little Christmas read, chockful of Christmas spirit and happiness, perfect for this time of year. Thanks to NetGalley for the advance copy! Review coming up soon!
Reading This Week:
The Glittering Hour by Iona Grey. I received this book as part of a blog tour and I am about halfway through. I plan on finishing and reviewing at the beginning of the week! I don’t usually post photos like this of covers from my Instagram but I had such fun with this one. My friend and I spent a morning styling this one together at her house with her collection of antiques. We had a great time and I feel like we will collaborate again!
Posted Last Week:
Book Review: 21st Century Yokel
Watching:
The Great British Bake Off (previous seasons again), Shetland, and then we watched Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas last night. Wyatt is also watching Scout and Daisy and the Gumboot Kids – these are such fast and quick little shows, like five minutes, and he loves the music and nature mysteries. I get ideas for projects for us to do together as well!

I love your book presentation with the typewriter, etc.
I generally give my grandchildren gift cards (their requests!), so shopping is easy.
Enjoy your week…and I love pottery!
It was such a cool event! I think I am going to do a post this week on our weekend exploits, and include some of the pottery.
Gift cards are great! That is what my dad gives us too. 🙂
And thanks!
I love the British Bake-Off. I’m watching very, very slowly, as I don’t want it to end.
We have to mail our gifts for my son and his wife, so we really need to get busy shopping. You are doing great.
Your book styling is wonderful. I’ve never done that, but it looks like great fun.
Have a lovely week!
It was a lot of fun lol! I think it helped I was working on it with my friend – we had a great time together doing this. Lol.
We raced through it and now I am sad we have to wait so long for more! We even watched the Canadian bake off. Lol.
I’m always buying Christmas presents up until about a week before. I love the cover of Wrapped Up For Christmas, and I liked what you said about it so I’ll be looking for a copy. I haven’t watched British Bake-Off but it’s on my watch list.
I usually am too! This is a new phenomenon for me. Lol. And I hope you enjoy Wrapped Up For Christmas as much as I did. It was so sweet. 🙂 And we love GBBO – even my 4 year old asks for it. Lol.
Sounds like your off to a good start with your Christmas shopping. I don’t have anyone to buy for except participating in a secret santa on a facebook group called COYER. At least I have no stress during the holiday season. 🙂
Have a great week and happy reading!

Week in Review
I feel like I have heard of COYER before! I must have seen it around. 🙂 Our to buy for list has shrunk over the years. 🙂 Even my husband and I really just buy socks and books for each other and call it our Little House Christmas. 🙂
We kinda do the same- just buy for the kids mostly now. Amazing how much money THAT saves lolol! Haha I might actually be done well before Christmas this year shopping- wise, which would certainly be an improvement over most years. 🙂 We’ll see if that really happens though!
Ooh I keep forgetting about Shetland- I don’t think I ever saw that last season.
It really does! It saves so much on money and time! Good luck!
We are on Season 3 – I really like the guy who plays Perez! I think he does such a great job of being a cop and also being human. 🙂
Do you know there are also an Australian and Irish versions of Bake Off? You might be able to find them online somewhere:)
I still have almost no shopping done for Christmas
Wishing you a great reading week
Ooo I didn’t!!! I will have to look around the internet to see if I can find them!
I wish my family would agree to stop buying gifts for the adults, it would make my life so much easier!
It really has – that was seriously one of the best decisions my family has made. It makes all of our lives easier. 🙂
I love the book/typewriter photo. I hope you had lots of fun at the Christmas party. Have a great week!
Thank you! We had a really good time!
Good for you on the shopping and thanks for the book info! I spent way too much time this weekend watching a marathon of the Christmas baking show masterclasses with Paul and Mary. I am inspired!
Haha those are the best television binges, the ones that inspire you to do try new things!
I have sooo much Christmas shopping left to do. And cards. And crafting.
Ugh yeah, I have cards to do. And wrapping! And cleaning, since I seem to be on strike.
I haven’t started shopping yet and the tree is not up. It is hard to believe that Christmas is so close. Once the weather improves I’ll have to get some shopping done. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
I can’t believe how close it is honestly! Where is December going?? Fingers crossed for better weather for you!
The cover of The Glittering Hour is so lovely!
I know right? I was just drawn to it!
I think Christmas is for the young too, in terms of actual gifts. We can give the gift of presence to those we love and honestly do we need things – no. We don’t gift adults a lot but some do. Just nearest and dearest but not extended family.
I agree. I feel honestly like I don’t need much, just my people. 🙂 I understand giving them to some people though – I always buy for my mom. 🙂
Absolutely Mom’s are really special people.
I just have a few presents to purchase too. I’ve been into Christmas reads this year and Wrapped Up For Christmas sounds good.
It was! It was just a cute and easy little book.
What kinds of things do you get your hubbie? I love, love The Great British Baking Show. I marathoned the latest season some time ago quickly.
Yes! We love that show and have gone back again to rewatch old ones – Wyatt asks to watch it every night. Lol.
We aren’t super exciting on the gifts front. Lol. Billy and I don’t do a lot of gifts for each other anymore. We try to do the something to you want, something you need, something to wear, and something to read thing. I usually get him beard oil, and wool socks since we do a lot of winter hiking, and he loves to make things, so there is always some sort of tool he needs, or knife or other outdoor gear he wants. 🙂
I’m working on a gift idea post – maybe something will get you thinking. 🙂
My sister and my mother, and I changed to the “only kids” gifting when my son and nephews were little and I always wished that my in-laws had done that too because it is so much less stressful. Enjoy the coming holiday weeks! 🎄
Thanks Lala! I was just thinking about you this morning and how I wanted to visit your blog!
