Black Cats Gift Guide!

Hello everyone!! It’s the time of year we are surrounded by images of black cats for Halloween, and I wanted to pay homage to these cuties! I love black cats, and I know I mentioned this in another post, that they are the least likely cats to be adopted. They are overlooked in shelters and rescues, as their more colorful cat companions usually stand out. And there is also the whole black cat superstitious thing too. I know that the whole Halloween association doesn’t help either, which is why I want to celebrate these beautiful cats, for who they are, and that is not as bad luck, but cuddly cats just like all the rest of the cats out there. I have read that in Scotland, a strange black cat arriving at your doorstep is considered lucky, and in Japan, they are seen as good luck and attract wealth.

I am an animal person, and I often buy animal themed things for my house. I am just like that. And it seems like these artists on Etsy feel the same way!

This post contains Etsy Affiliate links. If you were to purchase an item through these links, I would receive a small commission that I use to help purchase items for Wyatt. If you were to purchase anything through this post, I will also donate a percentage to my local animal shelter where I used to volunteer.

Black Cat Energy Tee – This tee is from Ellie Threads Co., located in South Carolina and it 100% made me laugh. It is so cute and honestly I think I need it.

This little peeking black cat mug is adorable, isn’t it! It is from Penarth Ceramics, located in Penarth, UK. I have a huge love of handmade mugs (and just mugs, let’s be honest) and I think this one is just so fun.

Can you imagine any better bookends to hold up your cat themed books? I know I have a bunch of translated fiction books with cats on the cover. These 3D printed black cat bookends are purrfect. They are made by Diggity3D, located in Georgia.

This first print is a linocut, and I love linocut. I actually just purchased a tee that has a linocut rabbit on it, from Etsy actually. The colors in this one, and the expression on that little face is just priceless. Although this is $14.00 and available from ArtLuxBoulevard.

And this little cutie is a mini oil painting, the perfect size to slip onto a bookcase. I always think it would be so hard to paint such small little things, and this is lovely. This little bookish cat is made by OilAura.

I love folk art and pottery, and I am in love with almost everything in this shop, the MagicGardenCeramics shop. This plate is so pretty!!

Ok. So I know I said the black cat Halloween association doesn’t help their image but it is totally iconic. And this mug that is a of a bat black cat has been on my wish list for a long long time. I love BreadandBadger although they are out of my price range. The price is totally warranted, as this is hard work and takes a lot of talent and time, so I am not complaining about the price – just saying that it would definitely be a splurge piece for me!

These tiny little clay cats are called luck cats, and I loved that spin on the whole bad luck myth. They are so wee and sparkly!

And finally, this beautiful linocut piece. I am in love with it. It is from the shop Society of Cranes located in North Carolina. I may need to get this one and hang it…somewhere. I can find a spot!

Now, if you need something more Halloween or fall minded, check out these suggestions from Etsy!

Do you have any cats? I would love to hear about them!

We have several inside cats. Moses, who is our oldest cat, is a black cat. At this point in life, he is crotchety. Finn and Quinn are brothers we’ve had since they were about two weeks old. They are now 3 1/2. Finn is a big orange and white cat. He is sweet and affectionate. He has the zoomies most mornings. He zips through the house making weird cat noises. He is having fun. He loves to hide in an area of the house that has a wall cabinet. He goes in on the left side and walks over to the right side where the door is closed. I call it he is going into his office. Starla and Stella are Lynx Point Siamese. They are two years old. They don’t always get along. They are twins but have occasional arguments. Stella is especially emotional. She has facial expressions when she is petted. All of them have their own individual and unique personalities. We make it work. We are a family.

  2. Well, you know there is Gundel, my little black witch cat (named after Gundel Gaukeley, the German name for Disney’s Magica de Spell), and of course der Dekan (named after a Discworld wizard), my crazy little tiger.
She came from the streets over eight years ago and is between 11 and 12 now, according to my vet. Der Dekan came from a farm as a kitten, he’s a little over 4.

I love black cats so much, Gundel is not my first panther.
Funny that you have a cat gift guide just now. I published a cat post myself yesterday, but with cats in my own collection. There are a few black ones there, too 😀

    1. I am so behind on reading blogs and I feel so bad about it! I love your little babies. My cats were all from different circumstances too! Marlow was abandoned in an apartment (my poor baby) when his family moved, Maggie was a stray from the streets, and Miso is from a hoarder house.

I love black cats too. Maggie was a tuxedo, but she is the closest I have had. I haven’t been chosen by an all black cat yet. 🙂 I will have to pop over and see your collection!

    1. I love those linos!

Lol! Billy had a white cat growing up, and it’s name was … WC. For white cat. Lol.

Oh my goodness your cat was a toughie!! I love cats and dogs. I miss having a dog but I don’t miss all the extra that comes with them. I have to just give huggies to my friend’s dogs. Lol.

  3. These are all so cute! 😍😍😍

I’ve always had cats, until I got married and we moved into the home we are renting. With no good place for a litter box (and knowing the potential chaos a kitten can achieve), I knew I’d have to be cat-less for a bit … and then, after several visits to my parents/the cats I’d left behind … I discovered I am actually rather substantially allergic 😭😭😭 I still cuddle her cats – including the new kitten, Snoopy, and my sweet old man River {a flame point Siamese who is SO handsome!} – I just have to medicate first.

Happily, Mr says I can get barn cats one day, when we’ve got a permanent set-up, and they can hang out with the sheep and guard doggies 🙂

    1. Oh no!!!! I am allergic to them too! I have to always remember not to touch my eyes after I pet Miso or I am a mess. I seem to have adjusted to her but when I am around other people’s cats it is hard. And awww Snoopy and River! I love it.

And yay for barn cats!!! Shelters are always looking for people to take the cats that come in as feral, if you need a place to find them. Lol.

      1. I think there’s definitely something to getting used to them, because I don’t remember it being so bad when I lived with them, lol … Like, I knew I was stuffy/congested in general but chalked it up to chronic sinus issues and etc. Now it’s like … whoa. Histamine OVERreaction much? LOL But whatever. Kitties will always be cuddled! ❤ 😀
