Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl
This week’s prompt: Books that feature travel
This week, I decided to list all nonfiction books. Once upon a time, I used to read a lot more nonfiction, especially travel memoirs. I still enjoy them, I just haven’t read very many lately. Does anyone else go through different reading phases or binges?

Into the Wild || Wide-Open World || Dear Bob and Sue

The Lost City of Z || A Walk Across America || Notes from a Small Island

The Sharper Your Knife, the Less Your Cry || The Sweet Life in Paris || Sideways on a Scooter

The Oregon Trail by Rinker Buck: I think out of all of the books listed, this was my favorite. My husband and I read it together, and it was just a fun one to buddy read. I want us to read Life on the Mississippi together, but we just haven’t gotten around to it. There are just so many books out there to read!
And that is it from me today! I can’t wait to see what everyone else has listed!
I’ve read and enjoyed all of these except two. Wide Open World sounds expecially interesting to me.

I definitely go through periods when I read different genres. As a rule, I’d choose fiction over nonfiction. But, these are enticing!

I read more fiction now for sure. I am such a mood reader though!

Ooh! I’ll have to check out that India + scooter one. Closes as I got was Iran on a motorbike. Definitely adding Oregon Trail to my shortlist, too. Hopefully I don’t die crossing a river.

And you have gotten way closer than I have!

I actually have The Oregon Trail on my unread shelf! I just read a book on the Donner Party, which was fascinating and terrifying.

I love Bill Bryson. I had a hard time choosing which of his books to add to this post!

I don’t read nonfiction as fast as fiction, but *normally* I am in a fiction and nonfiction book.

I read it slower as well. I have a few nonfiction books I am working through on my nightstand right now actually!

I’ve read INTO THE WILD (depressing!) and THE OREGON TRAIL (interesting!), but that’s it from your list. I keep meaning to read Bryson. I’ve heard his books are really entertaining. One of these days…
Happy TTT!

Into the Wild was really depressing. I am so glad that they removed that bus. It felt icky to me that it was still there. Bryson’s books are so good! They make me laugh out loud for reals sometimes!

Oh I LOVE Dear Bob and Sue! It’s a fabulous series. Another favorite was Leave Only Footprints: My Acadia to Zion Journey. I’ve enjoyed all the Bill Bryson books I’ve read but my favorite was probably his A Walk in the Woods even though I have zero desire to ever try and hike the Appalachia trail.

Wasn’t Dear Bob and Sue just so cool!! I loved it too!! I will have to read Leave Only Footprints, I haven’t read that one. I really loved A Walk in the Woods too. That was my first Bryson book. I can’t imagine walking that whole trail. I would be freaked out for many reasons. Lol. I did walk part of it, like a very tiny small chunk when we stayed at Shenandoah National Park.

The Sharper Your Knife and Sweet Life in Paris are both on my shelf waiting for me to read them.
I also very much go through phases were I read a lot of nonfiction … or none. There is no middle ground, lol
When I do read it, I absolutely love foodie memoirs, especially those in France and Italy. A large chunk of my nonfiction bookcase is foodie books, or travel books, or memoirs in general. With a healthy dose of history as well, because #HistoryMajor, lol
I’m starting to feel the nonfic urge … maybe this summer the season is coming around again 🙂

These all look intriguing! I limited myself to adding just two to my TBR list though – Sideways on Scooter, and The Lost City of Z.

I’ve read a few of these and own a few more but really need to pick up The Oregon Trail! It’s been awhile since I’ve read a good travel memoir.

Great list! I’ve only read Into the Wild, but it was such an engrossing book. I like the focus on nonfiction this week, and I also go through phases where I’ll read more nonfiction and then times when I’ll read almost none.

I rarely read nonfiction, but I try to throw some in there occasionally because I do really enjoy it. I just don’t reach for it the way I do fiction.
