Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl
Today’s Prompt: Books that Include/Feature [insert your favorite theme or plot device here]
I went with one of my favorite tropes, found family. There is just something so heartwarming about it. I am a family person; I have a large family that I love, and we are all so close. I also have a few friends that I consider family. They are my friends who are really like sisters, so for me, a book with found family is just one of my favorite things to read.

The Raven Boys || The Honey Witch || The Healing Season of Pottery
The Raven Boys: This group was just such a crazy hodgepodge to me, and I loved the way they all fit together. On the surface, they really shouldn’t have but they clicked and worked.
The Honey Witch: I just recently read this one, and it is still super fresh in my mind. I just loved the friendships and love between Marigold and her group that she finds after she becomes the Honey Witch; a rekindled old friendship, new friendships, love. (and this was a gift from a little book fairy from TTT!)
The Healing Season of Pottery: I could vividly picture this group, creating their pottery together in the studio.

The Teller of Small Fortunes || Other Birds || The Hollows Series
The Teller of Small Fortunes: I absolutely loved this little friend group that formed, town by town and bit by bit. I loved it so much that I hope there is another book in this series!
Other Birds: This is one of my all time favorite books. I love the residents of the Dellawsip, and I love just everything about this book. I also love that my dad said that the main character Zoey reminded him of me.
The Hollows series: This is throwing it back there. I LOVED this series and met the author a few times at author signings. She doesn’t live too far away. Anyway, this series was such a great series and the characters are all so different and make up a wonderful found family – especially Rachel and Ivy. Dead Witch Walking is the first in the series.

Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop || Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers| A Fellowship of Bakers and Magic
Welcome the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop: Found family and books! And coffee!!
Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers: I didn’t expect to find found family in this book, and so I was pleasantly surprised by it. I love Vera.
A Fellowship of Bakers and Magic: This book is such an easy little gentle read, and I love how the characters become a family. I love this cover too! It was illustrated by Katie Daisy, and I love all of her illustrations!

The Last Unicorn: This is one of my all time favorites. I will never not love this book (and the animated movie) Amidst all of the magic, a real family of sorts forms. I love it.
And that is it from me today! I will be popping by all week I am sure!
Found Family is a favorite of mine too. I need to get caught up on The Hollows series. 🙂

I love the idea of a found family. As people’s families have grown smaller over the years, I imagine that more and more of us will create found families.

Absolutely! And I think we all understand now that families can look different for every family!

Your family sounds lovely. I enjoy the found family trope, too. Some of my relatives were informally adopted by the family so long ago that the kids in the family are surprised they’re not blood relatives once they figure it out. 😂
(It’s not that we keep it a secret or anything like that…but we treat blood relatives and chosen relatives exactly the same just like we treat relatives who have a different skin tone than us just like we treat relatives who happen to share the same racial background. Family is family. 💜)

Thank you Lydia! I love that about your family. My husband has family members just like that as well. I think that is such a wonderful example of love. Family is family. My best friend and I consider each other aunts to our kids. Family is more than who you are blood related to. 🙂

Found family is also one of my favourite things – I especially love a band of random people who come together on a quest in a fantasy novel and become family.

Great topic and list!
There are so many great books on here, but the last one, The Last Unicorn, gave me so much great nostalgia. I haven’t read the book yet, mainly because I only realized it was a book well into my adulthood. But the movie brings back so many great memories of watching it with my nephews when we were all kids!

The movie is so close to the book, it is crazy. I didn’t realize it was a book either until I was older. I love the movie. I used to watch it all the time with my cousin.

My sister used to play it for my nephews all the time when we were young, and I always loved that movie. I love when a movie is so close to a book, and it happens so infrequently.

Oh, The Last Unicorn took me back in time. Haven’t read it in a while, but if happen to catch the movie somewhere, I always watch it.

Great theme and great recommendations as usual. You always have such a neat variety. I am using Storygraph now and have been adding some of your suggestions or mentions to my TBR there.

What a beautiful “genre” to choose, Erin! I don’t think I’ve read any of these though I do have the Vera Wong book on hold. I’m always impressed by how you and Lisa are able to recall books that fit into a specific topic! I can barely remember what I had for dinner (pizza, btw). Have a wonderful weekend!

Other books featuring found family that I enjoyed are Castle Waiting by Linda Medley, The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers, and the Circle of Magic series by Tamara Pierce. Thanks for the list and happy reading!
